Brave New Films:

Demand the Steering Committee remove Joe Lieberman's position within the Democratic Caucus.
1,296 signers

We CANNOT tolerate a leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus who supports George Bush and McCain's War in Iraq. We CANNOT tolerate a Democratic chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee who endorses and stumps for McCain. We call on the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Joe Lieberman of his chairmanship and his leadership role.

The worse thing for opportunists like Joe is to be made irrelevant. No one should say or use his name.
His picture should never again appear on this blog. He is enjoying what he believes is his "importance"The dems should continue use him and discard him as soon as he is not needed.

smart people choose their battles wisely.
if enough dems are elected "downticket" then Liebernman will cease to matter and can yammer in the wilderness like the buffoon he is
this is adolescent tribal crap.
the fact that he caucused (sp?) with the Dems was to their advantage.
Lieberman is a hack and a toady to AIPAC - that's obvious.
any and all money and effort should be going to this november and getting solid majorities in both houses
grow up

It's brilliant politics actually - it's a flank attack on Lieberman. Get him tied up in this so he is distracted from supporting McCain and shooting his mouth off all the time.

I like it! Even if it's unsuccessful, it's brilliant.

I think Greenwald is wasting his talent on this one. Dems won't bother Joe as long as he caucuses with them. Maybe if we get more Democratic Senators in November, something can be done about Lieberman.

Why don't the voters of Connecticut just begin recall procedures? It's obvious that he finds that the real capital of his state is Tel Aviv and not Hartford.

That's the real remedy. But I'm not sure there is a process for recalling a senator.

I couldn't agree more. This guy supports the Iraq war because he thinks it helps Tel Aviv. He supports MaCain because he wants us to attack Iran on behalf of Israel. He doesn't want Israel to go it alone because they will likely get their butt kicked. Lieberman is part of the conspiracy in this country whereby a minority seeks to dominate American policy --- and which becomes viscious and vocal if any of us complain. We don't need this guy as a senator of any persuasion. I agree he must go before we're involved in another disastrous war.

Smarter people should talk to this group. Lieberman is annoying, but he is also fifty first essential vote for democrats and votes with them on everything but the war.

Joe Lieberman, the "Candidate Whisperer!!" wimpy Joe has to stay around and whisper into foggy McCains ear, everytime McCain makes another gaffe. He's the "Candidate Whisperer!"

Perhaps he wishes to play Cheney to McCain's Bush.

They can't strip Joe of his committee chairs because he would caucus with the Republicans which would mean that control of the Senate would go to Republicans. Joe's day is coming, as soon as the Senate has a super Democratic majority, Joe will be stripped of everything and left out into the cold.

Yes, we'd lose control for a few months, maybe just weeks. But Repubs won't be able to help themselves from grabbing goodies with the sudden switch in chairs and it would be the best campaign tool Dem Senate candidates could ask for.

And hey, its not like Dems are tripping over themselves to use their CURRENT majority status to demand a strong new FISA or prepare for an Impeachement Trial reccomended by the House. If we don't feel the slim majority allows us to do any good, we should give it up to concentrate on getting a stronger majority in Nov.

It's true that the Democrats aren't accomplishing anything WITH lieberman, so why not kick him out?

Joe Lieberman is a great man who represents Israel... He is more devoted to Israel than he is to the United States... I say let Joe move to Israel where YOU can defend your wonderful obsession for the rest of your life.. MOVE JOE!!

And yet...Connecticut voters had a clear choice between him and a mega-lefty, and they chose Joe. Now why do you think that is? You think maybe the far left, radical agenda might turn a majority of Americans off?

And if it won't work in Connecticut, how's it gonna work nationwide?

Dear Monica L,
Wealthy businessman Lamont is hardly a mega-lefty. as a mega-lefty I can tell you he is merely left-leaning. connecticut is not bush country and what might turn people off in, let's say Wyoming is not going to have the same effect in connecticut. they chose joe because the republican party decided not to support their own candidate so that lieberman would win. the people got snookered because he promised to remain a democrat, but he has behaved far more like a republican than many of the actual republicans. as for the far left radical agenda and the American majority, all polling indicates that Americans are sick of the waste of lives and money thrown into the sink hole of Iraq which was pretty much Lamont's single issue.

WRONG. Lieberman won because of the GOP, he got 80% of the republican vote otherwise he would have lost to Lamont AGAIN.

The mass media keeps coming up with terms, like Reagan Democrats, to create this image of disaffected-with-the-democrats working class people. they are using the divide and conquer technique to dupe people into thinking that somehow republicans have something in common with working people. This has always been a big lie. Reagan, who broke the backs of the unions, was the most anti-labor president until we got the current jackass. Blue Dog Democrat is the latest jargon catch word. Mainstream media is the true enemy of working people. They are the tool that keeps the creeps in power.

From Wikipedia;
"Blue Dog Democrat" is playfully derived from the original term Yellow Dog Democrat. It was former Texas Democrat Rep. Pete Geren who said that the members had been "choked blue" by those "extreme" Democrats, from the left.[citation needed] Thus, he is credited for coining the term Blue Dog Democrat.

In the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century, Yellow Dog Democrats were voters in the U.S. Southern states who consistently voted for Democratic candidates. The term arose from the notion that loyal Southern Democrats would vote for a yellow dog before voting for a Republican.

And to think how close he came to being our VP, he would have been finishing up his second term in a few months under a Gore administration and now would be running for the Dem nomination.

What happened to you Joe, is your allegiance to imperialistic Israel more powerful than you loyalty to the USA?

Just goes to prove that some things happen for the ULIMATE BEST.

We are in very bad shape now, and most concede that McC would be worst. Now Joe thinks McC is better. So, if Joe was running this year and had a chance to win, lets say, after successful Gore terms, we would be facing a McC-worse or Joe L-worser!

What you are asking for takes character, principles and intestinal fortitude - and you are talking about the Democrats. The party of "Off the Table" Pelosi. Should happen - but won't. So forget about it.

What is wrong is that a large number of those who voted for him are Republicans.
