CHARLESTON, S.C. — Bill Murray and his wife of nearly 11 years are divorced. A judge in Charleston County signed off on the divorce agreement June 13, barely a month after Jennifer Butler Murray asked for the separation. The couple were married in July 1997.

The couple's four children will live with their mother, while the 57-year-old actor-comedian will have visitation rights and pay child support, according to court papers. Jennifer Murray also will get their home on Sullivans Island, S.C., and a second house in Hemet, Calif.

Other documents detailing the divorce were sealed at the couple's request.

The court papers were first obtained by the Web site TMZ.com.

Messages left Thursday for attorneys for the Murrays, who had a prenuptial agreement, weren't immediately returned.

In her original complaint, filed May 12, Jennifer Murray alleged that her husband abused her and was addicted to marijuana and alcohol.

The Post and Courier of Charleston obtained the complaint and attached prenuptial agreement before they were sealed. The prenuptial agreement requires Murray to pay his ex-wife $7 million within 60 days of the divorce.

Murray was a cast member on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." His screen credits include the "Ghostbusters" movies, "Caddyshack" and "Groundhog Day." He received an Oscar nomination for his role in "Lost in Translation."

He is a co-owner of the Charleston RiverDogs minor league baseball team.

OUCH! The old Ten-year plus rule...most prenups kinda fizzle with ten years of marriage. Me thinks she hung on a little longer to make it not so obvious. Remember how Tom Cruise put the screws to Nicole Kidman JUST before the ten-year mark? Whatta creep...BUT he might have met his match with Katie Holmes' father being a divorce attorney. Hmmm?

I have always loved him on TV and on Film. (Still do) But before you heap abuse I her you have to realize he is well known for being difficult.

Harold Ramis (a man that helped make him a star) said he made everyone's life a living hell on GROUNDHOG DAY and he was really hurt by it.

So maybe she had enough.

she is taking the money and runs. Good thinking. What can he offer her anymore. His drunken stupor why should she put up with them, when she can live in comfort from his money and have a sober , lover who wispers nice in her ear. I can't blame her.

I hear that Jennifer has her own little drinking problem. Don't always assume that is the guy's fault.

He is a very unusual person. I think he would be difficult to live with.

When I heard Bill Murray was a real person who actually still cared about films, I wrote to him and made him a protogee of mine to study. Little did I know I'd have a son born the same day, and I wanted to know how someone so successful could influence my son's life in an innocent sweet way, the way I always thought of Bill when he was acting with Gilda Radner, and we all just loved his
sense of normalcy. I am attaced to him like a suction cup of a giant octopi in the sea.
Call me crazy. I don't care, because I know Bill is special , and he is our real Perter Pan of the movies.

He has a lot more than 3 movie credits. To begin with there are more than 3 mentioned in the post.

The only thing this story does for me is make me want some low-country shrimp and grits.
