John Yoo, David Addington Testify On Torture, Detention Policies (VIDEO)

David Addington, a longtime aide to Dick Cheney, and John Yoo, who helped write the infamous "torture memos," testified before the House Judiciary Committee today on the Bush administration's detention and interrogation policies. Both men offered evasive answers to seemingly simple questions. Yoo, at one point, was asked several times by Cmte. Chairman John Conyers whether or not the President had the authority to bury a detainee alive. Yoo was unable to offer an answer.

There are no words to convey the way I feel about this.

Simply put - these men are clearly war criminals and I pray for the day when they will answer to an international court.

The hubris of these abjectly amoral thugs - who have taken us to this point - is positively criminal. They need to pay the full price for their egregious and outrageous crimes against humanity.

Both of these men are sickening examples of the self righteous and soulless neo con.

Addington seems so happy with himself as he explains that he is not before the committee to answer any legal questions, as if somehow the debate over the word "torture" is best handled before the American public as a trick game show question.

John Yoo is no more than the esquire version of Andrea Yates, the Texan woman who was able to calmly and determinedly drown her own children in a bathtub, one at a time, even as one cried for help and said he was sorry.

Yoo was able to draft a torture memo that could be potentially applied to any interrogation situation yet in testimony suggested that he couldn't make a blanket statement about a president's authority without the details. That's like giving someone a license to drive a car and then being asked if the person with the license would be allowed to drive a Honda and responding that you would need to know the circumstances of the Honda.

I hope I live long enough to see war crime trials. They will come.

I hope I live long enough to see war crimes trials too. I am not as certain as you that they will come, but I certainly hope they do. And I particularly want Yoo and Addington held accountable because they provided legal cover for the torturers.

John McCain is a "campaign finance criminal." The Washington Post even reported on the potential for criminal behavior by McCain:

The whole country needs to read Vincent Bugliosi's new book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder. Bugliosi, of Manson family fame, is, as everyone knows, one of the most highly respected and successful prosecutors in American history. He's totally serious in laying out the case for murder in Iraq against Bush, and serious about how prosecutors can nail Bush, literally put him on trial for murder, after he leaves office. Bush is a war criminal who knowingly, shamelessly lied the country into a proxy war for Israel run by the neocons whom he put in charge of his Pentagon. Tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis died as a result, incomparably more than Hussein could have murdered if he'd stayed in power for a hundred years. Not to mention the poor American servicemen blown apart by the thousands for this senseless, stupid war, which didn't even protect Israel but strengthened its bitterest and most dangerous enemy Iran, Hussein's worst enemy. The idea that Bush was simply doing his best to "protect" America by attacking Iraq is, as everyone now knows, is absurd. All he did was divert attention and desperately needed manpower and weaponry from Afghanistan and the hunt for Bin Laden.
