Logan Ware

CBS' Lara Logan was involved in a Baghdad love triangle with a married US State Department contractor and CNN international correspondent Michael Ware, the New York Post reports.

This week's National Enquirer reported the news of Logan's Baghdad sex life, and implicated her as the cause of the State Department contractor's divorce. And while it named the contractor — Joe Burkett — it only described Ware as a "star CNN correspondent." The Post reports his name in Thursday's paper:

Passions got so hot in the combat zone that one of her lovers, Joe Burkett, brawled in a Baghdad "safe house" with her other paramour, CNN war reporter Michael Ware, a source said.

A close pal of Logan, who confirmed the allegations to The Post, said Burkett's marriage to Kimberly was already finished six months before they sparked up a relationship.

"She is not the cause of their divorce," the friend told The Post yesterday.

"It was going to happen."

The pal also said Logan was particularly hurt by the comments because she had met Kimberly Burkett and thought the two were "friendly."

As for the other claims, pals admitted that Logan had a one-time fling with CNN reporter Ware - but denied that there was any sort of fight between him and Burkett in Baghdad.

"There was no screaming match," the pal said.

In the heat and turmoil over there. Anything can happen anytime. One cannot control how his/her heart feels under the extreme stress. I wouldn't impose moral judgments in war circumstances. If so, why are we there killing people in the first place.

What is right? What is wrong?

Your helping the Right Wing smear a good journalist by even posting this tripe. Congratulations. Keep this up and you'll lose a loyal reader of your website.

I am really disappointed that you thought this newsworthy. Such a big turnoff and loss of credibility for you!

Good point, they risked their lives in that hell hole...it seems that in WWII more and more people got together because they knew that tomorrow may be their last day on earth and intimacy with someone you cared about had a healing significance and made you feel alive and not alone in a world gone mad.

Again Huffpost are you going to be fair and push back on this story???

Arianna do you know about this and what is your feeling???

Not to take away from the melodrama but both are there voluntarily and handsomely rewarded...

Lara Logan is the sex goddess of the MSM. It's time she put her assets to their best use.

Lara could be a female action hero if she put on some leotards or a bikini. She'd be perfect for the role of Batgirl, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, or Emma Peel

Wow, what a surprise. Media people with the moral character of politicians and prostitutes.

Someone explain why this is news, again? I think this article says as much about the editorial standards of HuffPo as it does about those involved. When can we expect a report on K-Fed's latest trip to Vegas?

I disagree. I think it's more about the war than about anything else. I grew up in Europe n it was just crazy to hear from grandparents of what went on during the war n how reluctant they were to pass any judgment as opposed to the events in peacetime. it's not about the morals, it's the proximity of death that radically transforms the value of values.

National Enquirer..?
But I've gotta give Ware some credit, damn good taste. Somebody's going to write a book about this with Fabio on the cover with a crooked nose.

I can see this on FOX - why the HELL is it on HuffPo? Who cares? It's their lives, and it's private stuff.

I'm with you Choicelady. This is not "news". This is a distraction that BushCo needs and wants to keep on the front pages so no one notices what's really happening in the world that real people can make decisions on. Pretty sad.

seriously, does this matter or is it just another corporate story, used to distract us all from the facts that Ms. Logan herself said we're missing. My only interest in this is to say "she's really beautiful and now I wish I had gotten a degree in journalism instead finance".

I agree. This belongs on the pages of the National Enquirer, not The Huffington Post. Nobody cares. It's private business, and really none of ours, or anyone elses.

Here comes the smear campaign. Lara, you shouldn't have said what you did about CBS the other day on The Daily Show. You had to know they were going to retaliate even though you spoke the truth, or may BECAUSE you spoke the truth.

Check out the Lara Logan youtube video which conveys what she said about the 'American' media in the 'related video' section at the right of the following youtube of Scott McClellan being questioned about the neocon agenda at Barnes & Noble in Santa Monica (California) the week before last:

While Lara did bring up an important point that U.S. soldiers deaths in Iraq are barely mentioned on the MSM she completely failed and missed a supreme opportunity to bring up the over one million Iraqi people who have lost their lives and the 4 million Iraqi refugees.

Pepe Escobar brings this up over at Professor Juan Coles Informed Comment website. Juan's is the place to go if you want to find out what is going on in Iraq, Afghanistan and sometimes even the Israeli Palestinian conflict. You will not find this out from Lara or Jon Stewart

This story about "morality" reminds me of one of my favorite hypocrisies:

We have a President who, assisted by the entire Republican body in Congress, has lied to start a war for money (oil, people usually say - but it is the money...if you're honest).

And while that Republican President is the "Commander in Chief", we have had people like Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga floating amendments to ban magazines like Playboy and Penthouse from military stores (PX, BX, etc.).

This is no more immoral act than killing for money - yet the Republicans still have the presumptuousness to foist themselves upon us as being qualified to play the role of protector of our service people's morality?

(Speaking of:

That Broun is a piece of work...take a gander at his legislative activities at http://www.govtrack.us/congress/person.xpd?id=412252&tab=bills.

In my best southern accent: "Ya'll need to get rid of him, Georgia - bless his heart.".)

lolll....big friggin' deal.

In a sentence, while everybody has heard the cliche that there aren't any athiests in foxholes, the equally valid corollary is there aren't any virgins, either.

At least not by the second time a person comes under fire.

(Ummm...well, except maybe with our military forces in Iraq.

With the Islamic laws and cultural differences, I don't suppose there are as many chances for that "I lived!! I lived!!" reaffirmation of life in the arms of a lady of the day, afternoon, or evening as there were in s/e Asia.

No wonder there is so much PTSD coming out of Iraq.)

True. But some times you have to change your underpants from coming under fire in a fox hole FIRST before engaging in any and delicate intimacy. Soap and water does help.
