Madonna Gets McCartney's Divorce Attorney And Guy Quits Kabbalah: Reports

Friday's UK Sun reports that Guy Ritchie told wife Madonna he is quitting Kabbalah:

"Guy threw himself into it at first and even filled his movie Revolver with obscure references to the faith.

"He was genuinely into it and it helped the bond between them. But then he backtracked a little with his gestures of public backing, like wearing the bracelet, because he didn't like being such a high-profile follower.

"He also became suspicious of all the Kabbalah crowd living off her money.

"But he always told Madonna he had kept his faith -- until now.

"A few weeks ago he told her he doesn't want anything else to do with it. It didn't go down well."

Friday's Mirror claims that Madonna asked for a divorce, and Guy easily agreed.:

Madonna told Guy Ritchie she wants a divorce after the couple agreed they had fallen out of love.

They admitted to each other that their seven-year marriage was doomed because they had simply drifted apart.

A friend said last night: "They were both very calm. Madonna told Guy: 'I'm sorry, I want a divorce'. And he agreed. It was quite painless but very sad."

Guy, 39, reluctantly agreed to 49-year-old Madge's request for a divorce to end their turbulent relationship.

But friends said he still nurtures the dream that the final break can be avoided.

Ms Shackleton also acted for the Prince of Wales in his divorce. Yesterday Madonna's spokesman refused to comment on the claims.

The Sun reports they sleep in separate rooms.

Shackleton is the same attorney on whom Heather Mills dumped a glass a water.

In May Madonna and Guy walked the red carpet together at Cannes, having rarely been spotted as a couple, and stories flew that the pair was living a civilized separation.

Madonna was a lot cooler before she started piling on the layers or pretension. At least back in the 90s when she was acting slutty 24/7 she was keepin it real. I'm Jewish and I think Kabbalah kind of BS - especially if you've got to go around talking about it fashionably. I'm pretty sure it was originally intended to be kept secret and talked about in whispers - in a broader context it comes of as laughable nonsense. Like so many spiritual paths the outward trappings are meaningless. My advice to celebrities following weird religions: best to keep it to yourself. Whatever perceived meaning you're getting from it will be best preserved by not exploiting it as a fashion accessory or alienating those around you with your delusions of superior knowledge. I don't think she's gotten wiser in her old age - just more self absorbed, and hopefully one of these days she'll realize she isn't 30 years old any more when filming her next music video. Guy Ritchie's film career has sucked ever since marrying her, maybe he can make a competent film again after this. ....... and yeah this was all kind of a dick thing to say, but I wouldn't have said it if I didn't admire her somewhat.... truly - I'll always have a crush on 80s Madonna, which makes me feel old as hell too. They become so isolated in trying to carve out some privacy that they end up in a classic "group think" cult mentality where there's no corrective input to their wacky ideas. Don't count Sean out when it comes to the generosity of his heart. I get my Kabbalah for free. Google it with a Q and a C spelling and you will get millions of hits. It's actually a complex set of symbols and ideas but balance is at the heart like it is on most spiritual paths.
I don't really know anything about Madonna's Kaballah but I think you may be right about it being dumbed down. I never heard of that red string thing.. seems pretty superstitious and silly compared to how sublime the Qaballah is. I think her teacher is in the business of making money. There are better teachers.
