JUNE 26--The fiancée of "Opie & Anthony" co-host Gregg Hughes has filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against the New York Post over an erroneous gossip item claiming she made a sex tape with one of the stars of MTV's "Jackass." Lynsi Smigo's New York State Supreme Court complaint alleges that the newspaper smeared her in an April 23 "Page Six" column claiming that Hughes, known as "Opie" on the popular radio show, was "said to be livid over an X-rated romp" starring Smigo, 25, and performer Bam Margera. The item, citing a longtime column source named Chaunce Hayden, claimed that a disgruntled former "Opie & Anthony" employee "recently acquired rights to the video from Margera and it's soon to be released on a pay-for-play Web site." Hughes, 45, was also said to be "taking legal action to prevent its distribution." In addition to suing the Post, Smigo has named Hayden and "Page Six" editor Richard Johnson as defendants in her June 25 lawsuit, an excerpt of which can be found below.

Shouldn't we know who these people are before their fifteen minutes starts counting down?

This doesn't sound like Page Six. They are always accurate and full of integrity.

The New York Post isn't worth the paper it's printed on. This worthless tabloid loses tens of millions of dollars yearly.

I have never heard of Page Six and I have such a strong feeling that knowing what Page Six is, is not worth knowing, that I am not going to research it. As George Harrison said, this is "The Devil's Radio."

How surprising. A Murdoch owned rag prints lies. I'm astonished.

Confusion here...

Just how does one claim 'smear' if there's actually a tape and you're trying to stop distribution?

"Hughes, 45, was also said to be "taking legal action to prevent its distribution." "

This statement in "Read the whole story here" implies 'stopping distribution' is part of the suit. However, when the entire complaint is read, no such request or point is made. One still wonders why it made it to the State's Supreme Court though, except that slander/libel lawsuits normally have to prove the lie has affected income or future income in some way, and Rupert can afford good lawyers.

Thus the previous confusion, 'stopping distribution' implies something actually exists to be stopped.

I never read or watch Mudrock's fabricated crapola, anyway. I believe him an info terrorist from another country that hates and is trying to destroy America.
