David Letterman Posts Worst Ratings Since 1993

NEW YORK -- CBS' "The Late Show With David Letterman" tied its lowest-ever adults 18-49 rating last week.

"Late Show" averaged a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49, Nielsen Media Research said. That is its lowest ever for an original since the program premiered in 1993, though not the lowest for the show: It has hit 0.9 several times, most recently in late December when it was in reruns because of the WGA strike.

Craig Ferguson is the finest evening talk show host ever. Once you watch him, you can't go back to the canned s**t you get with Leno and Letterman.

I think Craig Ferguson is better than Johnny Carson. Carson always made his guests look good, but he wasn't honest with the audience like Ferguson. Ferguson is the future. Replace Letterman with Ferguson, and watch those ratings soar.

Didn't he earn something like $30 million last year? And he's been at it a long time. He often seems unhappy and complains constantly. Why would he stick with it if he hates it so much? Instead quit and take the family to Bali or the south of France or to the island of Capri for a year while you still can. Learn how to paint. Go to Peru. Volunteer. Give your loot away. What a bore.

IMHO, Letterman personally is funnier than Leno but Leno has FAR better writers. So, even though Leno can be painful to watch (especially when he repeats punchlines as if we were too stupid to get it the first time), I generally prefer him to Letterman where everything seems like an 'inside joke' and if you don't watch him all the time half of what he says doesn't make any sense.

Dave is great when he ad libs, and Paul Shafer is not only a fantastic musician, Paul is really funny, but let's face it, the writing is really weak.

Dave needs some better writers or the show is doomed.

Letterman is anti-bush and as such , is fair game for what I strongly suspect , is bogus polling. Letterman is "the man" , and will survive. His nightly segment of "great moments in presidential history" is the "only" place on the MSM where you can see just exactly what kind of incoherant jibberish comes out of bush's mouth.
