LA Times:

John McCain has been trying hard of late to link Barack Obama with Jimmy Carter in the public consciousness, hoping that the "ineffectual" label that many voters affix to the former president will prove transferable.

Anti-tax activist Grover Norquist touts Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota as prime vice presidential prospects for presumptive Republican presdiential nominee John McCainBut Grover Norquist -- the conservative activist who specializes in promoting an anti-tax agenda and, more generally, revels in the role of agent provocateur -- is offering a different comparison.

Norquist dropped by The Times' Washington bureau today and, as part of his negative critique of Obama's liberal stances on economic issues and other matters, he termed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee "John Kerry with a tan."

This is the second time in less than 24 hours that I have heard or read something so striking concerning Senator Obama that It made me stop in my tracks. We are seeing the slow emergence of a new line of attack.
Last night I attended a service at Cornerstone Church in Madison, Tn. This was a very Patriotic service ending in an impressive "indoor" fireworks show. The kicker to all of this is that the Pastor, who pridefully speaks from a conservative position, stated the following during his sermon:

"The Media is presenting Senator Obama to us with the lie that he is representing the African American population. He is half white. He is not a black man. I want to know where I am respresented in this deal. He is also, according to (Republican radio talk show host) Steve Gill, part Arab and is more white than anything else."

Some segments of our population are so upset by the possibilities of this election that they are about to suffer mental breakdowns. Is this what is left from the Conservatives? Water cooler chats? "Pssssss, did you hear the latest? Obama isn't really a black man. It's a lieeee, it's a lieeeeee!!"

I don't think we're going to be truly floored until after the conventions. That's when we will be disgusted by the GOP. I really hope they bring all their hateful, dirty poiltics this year. It will help BHO win in a landslide. America isn't having it this year. The GOP will LOSE if they try to use fear, racism, or terrorism to win.

Is this supposed to be hurtful? Puhleaze. Blacks are used to racism like this. Just mark the racists who call Obama Darky and let it go. No use giving this any form of reflection.

Under George W. Bush, Republicans have been war-mongers, murderers, destroyers, fiscally irresponsible, racists, religious extremists, torturers, elitists, liars, sexual predators, cheaters, hypocrites, law breakers, conspirators, cover-up artists and wholly ineffectualy in running our government. And a racist named Grover wants us to believe that we should want people like him to continue destroying the ethical and moral values that our freedoms are based on. Grover Norquist represents the worst of Republican values. He is what's wrong with America. He and his kind must never be trusted again.

Quick question;
Are we all still pretending conservative/republicans aren't racists?

That's a pretty sensible way to look at it.

"I see no candidates here."

I see two-maybe-three indistinguishable Senators (their public voting records are right there to see, so I'm not exactly making this stuff up) who are happily spending multiple-billions of dollars ostensibly "so get votes," but really just to get back into the halls of power for another eight years ...

... unless the Supreme Court or "El Presidente" himself simply attaches a Post-It note to the end of the next document they sign, saying, oh, let's say, " 'in times of war,' the President can remain in office indefinitely and can appoint his successor,' " and "the Congress said, 'duh, okay.' " (It could happen.)

In a world where absolutely no one is actually speaking (presumably, that's what $1 billion in cash can buy you these days...) when anyone actually DOES say something original, it rings-out like a cough at a funeral.

The Best Weapon Against Positive ness Is To Ignore Negative ness. When someone refers to a tendency of someone else in order to assign more weight to negative affirmations in his description of others, then it may be time to consider the urge for switching off from the essence of its intention because some pessimism will never bring progress towards the stakes you got to face. As any doctor knows while just looking at a face of a patient, a diagnosis can most of the times be as clear as a syndrome of psychic or motorist-disturbances, reason why some attitude can also be identified as a form of schizophrenia. Many of them are hiding their ideological scope, describing their authoritarian political messages and even though under the shape of an unsuspected figure like Gov. Jindal. To their achievement, there is a rhetoric driven into monarchial vision where peoples are exorcized and enslaved under their supreme governance. They’re simply negatives because of the fear to loose ground on the 21st century.

The 21st century is Power back to Peoples or Power back to the dictators of the last centuries.

But, How can the REP claim to maintain Power refusing to admit their government failure and still willing to go on and on again, following the same failed policy. Isn’t it time to be positive for CHANGE?

If anyone is confused as to why more of us with some conservative views are registering as Independents then with either major political party I give you idiots like Grover Norquist. Racism in any form is unacceptable. Period.

And what would the RepublicRats say if Democrats were to begin calling McCain "Hoover, ... but with 12 more years on his face"? Norquist is "out of bullets" at this point, as McCain is not his cup of tea, ... but the only drink in town for the GE to come. Must suck to be Grover these days, ... a perfectly good career as a political hitman down the drain at such an early age. Oh well, there is always Pakistan, Zimbabwe, or a hundred other little fiefdoms where he can peddle his stuff.

The analogies and the similes will not stick very well, particularly because they are trite, off the mark, and we've heard things like them for nine years already. Even Alka-Seltzer came up with a catchy jingle every so often, ... but this ain't it, Grover!

One benefit of the Obama campaign is that it is brings viewpoints like this to the surface. The sunlight can only help racial understanding in the long run. Thanks Grover..

It seems that Republican race baiting has started already. This is not surprising from the party of Jesse Helms. I am surprised that Norquist managed to stay out of jail. His role as a cash conduit for Jack Abramoff is well-known. Even John McCain said so. See the article in the Washington Post below:

It's very sad to see how the once proud "Party of Lincoln" has been decimated. On second thought - it's for the best.

Republiklans are dead.

As I have stated on many occasions the new Republican Party, the party formed in the ‘60s to oppose civil rights, is fueled by bigots and racist. This party is not the party of Lincoln and to some extent its a party that Reagan reject.
