Joe Lieberman Responds To 'Lieberman Must Go' Campaign

This week, Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films launched LiebermanMustGo.com, a website petitioning Senate Democrats to strip Sen. Joseph Lieberman of his powerful committee positions in 2009.

Greenwald writes:

Lieberman still holds a top rank within the Senate Democratic Caucus as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senate Democratic Steering Committee needs to know just how much of a conflict of interest this is. That's why we created Lieberman Must Go.

Here's what you can do: Sign our petition today and tell the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Lieberman of his leadership role in Congress. Then, e-mail this video to everyone you know and spread it on sites like Digg and elsewhere.

Recently in Talking Points Memo, Josh Marshall suggested that the best way to limit Lieberman is by encouraging the Steering Committee to render him powerless in 2009. Lieberman must go, and you can make that happen by donating to Brave New Films today.

Yesterday, Lieberman himself responded to the campaign. The Hartford Courant reports:

When asked about the new www.LiebermanMustGo.com Web site, Sen. Joe Lieberman said this afternoon that it certainly had the right to collect signatures demanding he be shoved out of his Democratic Party positions next year. But he said, "I think most people in this country are really tired of this kind of partisan politicking."

So, what's his plan to counter the petition?

Lieberman joked, "I'm not going to sign."

Joe Lieberman sucks big time. He's probably and Israelie intelligence operative. At least what he says and does indicates he has more support for that troublesome country than for us ----- and is right out front in the ill advised quest to get us into a war with Iran on behalf of Tel Aviv.

Robert Greenwald's campaign to ditch Lieberman, as well as the creation of J Street, are wonderful signs of how liberal Jews in America are getting mad as hell and are unwilling to take the rule of American politics by AIPAC anymore. All of us, gentiles and Jews of good will alike, should work hard to get rid of ALL the Joe Liebermans in Congress, ie. ALL the Congresspersons who are working for the most hawkish and conservative elements in Israel because they are tools of AIPAC and the wealthy Jewish donors who give AIPAC its muscle. If Lieberman, AIPAC, and the neocons who've made Bush/Cheney their puppets actually succeed in bombing Iran before Obama's innauguration, thereby driving gas prices to $10 or $15 a gallon, tanking the stock market and bringing depression to the world, the rage at AIPAC and Israel in Middle America will be truly terrifying to behond. No true friend of Israel should want to see this political disaster for Israel with the American electorate. So let's all do all we can to stop AIPAC and Bush/Cheney's bombing campaign now, befoe it's too late.

The most effective way to deal with this guy is to deal McCain a huge, embarrassing defeat. Hasn't the world been a better place since the 2006 elections defanged Bush? If you liked that, you'll just LOVE what will happen after the 2008 elections further curtail the GOP - and Lieberman.

Calling himself a democrat and independent at that , he is poking in the eyes of the democratic party. He is in the position as he is right now, because the democratic party wanted to call itself the majority party. Come November, Lieberman will be thrown into the whirlwind, as the democratic senate could be the majority party even without him.

I've felt for some time that Lieberman is more interested in representing the State of Israel than the State of Connecticut and now I've looked into his background I am sure I am right and it is very worrying.
He is on record as stating that one of the problems in his first marriage was that his wife's level of religious observance, she is a Reform Jew, was not as strong as his. Lieberman is an Orthodox Jew. His second wife, on the other hand, is the child of a Holocaust survivor and also an Orthodox Jew. As Lieberman ages I think he is becoming more subjective and less objective in his thinking. He gives the appearance of being positively anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian and could pose a problem to the safety of the USA and world peace.

There should be a law against politicians holding dual citizenship in (and dual loyalties to) other nations holding high government office. Make a choice. Either you're an American or another nationality. Imagine, foreign national Lieberman was very nearly vIce president, which put him a heartbeat away from the presidency.
