Joe

This week, Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films launched LiebermanMustGo.com, a website petitioning Senate Democrats to strip Sen. Joseph Lieberman of his powerful committee positions in 2009.

Greenwald writes:

Lieberman still holds a top rank within the Senate Democratic Caucus as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senate Democratic Steering Committee needs to know just how much of a conflict of interest this is. That's why we created Lieberman Must Go.

Here's what you can do: Sign our petition today and tell the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Lieberman of his leadership role in Congress. Then, e-mail this video to everyone you know and spread it on sites like Digg and elsewhere.

Recently in Talking Points Memo, Josh Marshall suggested that the best way to limit Lieberman is by encouraging the Steering Committee to render him powerless in 2009. Lieberman must go, and you can make that happen by donating to Brave New Films today.

Yesterday, Lieberman himself responded to the campaign. The Hartford Courant reports:

When asked about the new www.LiebermanMustGo.com Web site, Sen. Joe Lieberman said this afternoon that it certainly had the right to collect signatures demanding he be shoved out of his Democratic Party positions next year. But he said, "I think most people in this country are really tired of this kind of partisan politicking."

So, what's his plan to counter the petition?

Lieberman joked, "I'm not going to sign."

For all the Connecticut citizens who voted for this dangerous virus infecting and subverting the American people, I hope you can live with yourself with your misguided vote in 06. Ignorance is no excuse in a democracy; this snake is not working for the American people. We expect a lot better from you in November 08.

All we need to do is win two more seats and we'll have 51, and that's pretty much our worst case scenario. We're looking at gaining 5+, so this guy will be a nobody this time next year.

After Libermans actions how could anyone possibly have
any faith in "his word'?
To think that this back stabing snake could have be
the Vice President of this country, is truly scary!

When the democrats establish a true majority, I'm
sure they will show Liberman--the gate!

Joe Lieberman is not all that much different than other politicians with divided loyalties.
His concern that we must do what is (in his opinion) in Israel's best interest, in my opinion has skewed his judgement. Yet Lieberman is not unique in this regard.

Consider our overal policy and relationship with the Cuban community in Florida. For example, If a Cuban citizen tries to make it to America and drowns in the process, too bad. If he makes it to shore we’ll be happy to fish him out of the water and send him back. But if he makes it to shore alive, great! This is obviously an insane policy, yet everyone endorses it, and I hate to say this, but it has as much to do with the swing vote in a key electoral state it does anything else. Similarly, the arguments put forth over how to deal with millions of Mexicans coming here illegally have politicians dancing all around the issue. Build a fence, don’t build a fence. Maybe a partial fence. I’m not for sanctuary city, but I’m not for enforcement. I want comprehensive reform but not amnesty. Bottom line. We need to come together with some tangible policies that do more than temporarily appease one group of people at the expense of another.Otherwise we’re going to disintegrate into a very weak and divided society, and that’s not going to benefit anyone.

My internal radar always goes to LEVEL ELEVEN ORANGE FULL BS ALERT... whenever any dope uses the phrase "...the American people want...", or "...MOST Americans..." or other variations of this.
It's basically a lie the speaker desperately hopes ALL the listeners to accept without question, while blithely and hypocritically ignoring the fact that about HALF the people listening hope the speaker immediately gets severe lockjaw and continuous diarrhea for the rest of his/her life. That goes double for this guy.

Since Lieberman seems to be campaigning for VP under McCain, he'll have to become a Republican in name as well as in spirit.

Crazy old Joe didn't get into office all by himself. The "clearly" crazy old people of Connecticut are the ones who put him there. . . . What a bunch of idiots. However, our Democratic leaders should now clean up the mess that Connecticut made and get him out of leadership positions.

Joe Lieberman undermines Israeli national security in the same manner Bush undermines American national security.

Such spiteful and unprincipled men can't help but betray whichever group they are a part of.

The bottom line is this - Joe Lieberman is a self-serving, unprincipled, hypocrite and a liar.

Actually, it was mostly the Indies and Repubs that elected Joe in '06. The Dems in the Senate are bending over backwards to keep Joe in the fold since they would lose the Senate without his vote with Cheney having the deciding vote. From the looks of it, they will pick up that one vote and more in November and then Joe will be ignored by his former comrades.

We would not be in the situation we are in today had the voters had some discipline of who they are voting into office. Most voters don't have a clue and they go for name recognition, because a friend said something nice about him, someone got a contract, etc. but not for the real reason
that we should put someone in office. Maybe not in my lifetime, but I do hope people will tire of
their behavior, only looking out for themselves and giving peanuts to the folks they represent,
and vote with their conscience after they informed themselves wholly and that, I realize, is hard to
do.

You seem to be missing that Ned Lamont was not a great candidate. This bashing of Connecticut here is really quite pathetic. Want to blame anybody blame Lamont for not running a better campaign.

We will need Lieberman as chair of Homeland Security once he helps start a war with Iran, using Israel as a proxy. We can expect this war before the election. With oil at $250 a barrel and food being converted to fuel, there will be a lot of disgruntled Americans needing incarceration in the Southwest in all those detention camps that we are paying KBR hundreds of millions a year to build to imprison us. And we can expect Joementum to draw on Israel's 40 years of occupational oppression to guide this project.

My father came to the USA from Austria, and I am beginning to see it as a family way station.

Hillary Clinton once said after a meeting with Lieberman to discuss their differences on the Iraq War he just shook his head and acted as if she was a child. Lieberman takes arrogance to a new level. I hope there is enough buyer's remorse up in Connecticut to jettison this fool from public life when he runs for re-election.

Charlie Rose should do an in depth interview with the Senator. Maybe then I could get a better understanding of where Joe is coming from. Right now, I can't figure out if he is dumb (unlikely) or just plain crazy.

Can anyone lend me a blade so that I can expand Joementum's mouth at the sides. He has a slurred in-comprehensive phonetics. Maybe that is affecting his brains too. Stiff!!!!
