Amy Winehouse Spits Gum At, Fights With Fan

LONDON (AP) _ Amy Winehouse was packing a punch at the Glastonbury music festival. After taking the stage Saturday, the troubled singer climbed down into the pit and scuffled briefly with a reveler.

It was unclear what sparked the altercation but witnesses say a fan tried to grab Winehouse.

Winehouse sang for about an hour in front of an estimated crowd of 80,000.

She shocked fans last week by performing at a special birthday concert for Nelson Mandela.

The performance came just after she was hospitalized. Her father says she developed emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine, although her spokeswoman has said Winehouse only has pre-emphysema symptoms.

Why is this person so important to the media? She has no real talent that remotely weighs in against the controversy and illegal behavior she continues to act out. She is a unique talent and a messed up person , which makes her interesting. I'm not a huge fan but I was impressed when I saw some concert footage, very soulful and retro. Say what you will about how she is portrayed in the media , but I think it unfair to say her talent doesnt warrant the attention she ended up getting. Her stage presence and instantly recognizable voice are what got her noticed...not her offstage antics .
