Mcain Heckled
McCain gave a speech at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials' 25th annual conference today, in an effort to court a key, swing-voting constituency. McCain's speech, however, was interrupted at least three times by protesters. One protester was particularly vocal, holding up a large pink sign that says 'McCain equals' war in Spanish, and shouting "your silence is consent to war crimes" as they escorted her out of the hall. Another protester interrupted the end of McCain's remarks, and the Senator can be seen holding up his hands in exasperation.

Good for the protesters!!!!

Apparently McCain does care how many young lives are sacrificed
for a useless cause.

Insensitive.

He is wrong on too many issues.

Yup Demicrat montra if you don't agree with a person shout them down or otherwise try to silence them. Dems can't compete in the realm of ideas so this is the result. Don't believe it I give you the fairness doctrin; Dems can't compete so silence the competition.

Welcome the the real world that your party has created and the Democrats have helped foster! Both parties are equally guilty of fu===== the tax paying citizen. And to think that impeachment is off the table. Could it be because enough issues would come out to sink about 3/4 of the Dems running for reelection? Oh by the way, please remember the war in Iraq was about freedom!! Right freedom spelled OIL.

Impeachment is off the table because Cheney would be president and he's a hundred times worse.

As I watched this earlier on MSNBC, initially I couldn't uderstand what the protesters were saying,. However, I cheered them because I knew they were protesting McBush and their continued policies. It was like a kindred spirit; we didn't need to speak the same language to understand we were on the same team. Gosh, I love this country!

Obama all the way to the White House, my friend....he is going to win by a landslide, mark my words. And the Democrats are going to have such a massive majority in congress that there will truly be New Deal for all of us and the Bush criminals will finally be brought to justice!

and all the little democrats who voted for the war before they voted against it, will enjoy support from the entire Country? Wake up, wake up you are dreaming. On yea, McBama Bush just voted to FUND the war. I am sure he will pull all the troops out as soon as he wins the White House. NOT. Keep up your happy thoughts.

I think that we all need to be in the streets of Washington protesting this war and the way that bushco have destroyed our country. We should have done it a long time ago.

I agree, They've gotten away with their crimes because we've been way too complacent. What happens when the next one comes along and says "Hey, look what that Bush Administration got away with. Nobody said or did anything to stop them. We can take it even further."

We needed to march in the streets and demand impeachment years ago.

And it isn't just Iraq.

I watched both candidates speech..

McCain is mechanical and predictable... I also learned 166 illegal immigrants in one particular troop zone are fighting in Iraq to speed their pathway to citizenship .. first, I didn't know you could join the military without being a citizen (?) and second, I don't believe they should be given a pathway to citizenship over the people who applied legally.. just doesn't seem right..

Just seems more war is McCain's agenda.

Barack is trustworthy and polite....and I really appreciated his clear communication. I am a Barack supporter and I pray he will lead this country to unity and strong integrity around the world.

Lets unite and become a better country..

Yes We Can

It is strange but true. You can be in the military without being a citizen. My son-in-law was in the Navy and I recall one of those in his squadron was putting in the time so that he could become a citizen.

Doesn't make sense to me! You should be a citizen to be in the military.

The only people who can join the military are US Citizens (who are the only ones that can become Officers or get security clearances) and legal immigrants who ave Green Cards. So if illegal immigrants have joined, either that is a typo or someone in the Govt isn't doing their jobs.

For immigrants with Green Cards, joining the military does speed up the process to citizenship, which I think is a fair trade off. If you're willing to die for the country, then the country should speed up the process to citizenship.

You say he was predictable, and yet you learned something new from his speech, didn't you. You don't have to be a citizen to join the military, and why shouldn't these people get the fast track to citizenship? Everything they're doing is legal. Why do you say they are not legal?

What do you have against the military?

Oh, I see you misunderstood about the 166 immigrants. Those folks are not illegal--they have green cards or work visas or something. They are not illegal immigrants.

You say he's predictable, but you learned something new, right? And why shouldn't folks who are legally serving in the military get a pathway to citizenship?

If somebody is willing to give his/her life for this country, the least thing that can be done for this person is to give him citizenship. How many sons or daughters of Congressman are serving in Iraq?

When will TV journalist learn the difference between a "heckler" and a "protester"? Those women didn't heckler him, they were protesting his stance on war.

Yelling "your silence is consent to war crimes" is protesting. If she were yelling something like "Get of the stage Grampa!" or "You suck old man!", well then she would be heckling.

Not hard...you can even look it up in a dictionary.

Heckle: to harass (a public speaker, performer, etc.) with impertinent questions, gibes, or the like

Protest: an expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in opposition to something a person is powerless to prevent or avoid
