Times of London:

A baby boy had both legs broken by supporters of President Robert Mugabe to punish his father for being an opposition councillor in Zimbabwe.

Blessing Mabhena, aged 11 months, was seized from a bed and flung down with force as his mother, Agnes, hid from the thugs, convinced that they were about to murder her.

She heard one of them say, "Let's kill the baby", before Blessing was hurled on to a bare concrete floor.

Blessing, who may never be able to walk properly, was one of the youngest victims of atrocities against the opposition party Movement for Democratic Change in the run-up to last Friday's sham presidential election.

ANOTHER BIG WOW! This article and the 'Testicles" article had very short life on Huffpost. Yet Amy Whinehouse has been running for days.

What does it take to be news? Is this not an important deal, here?????

I will ask on this blog for the 3rd time, where is the outcrys and protests from the Civil-Rights leaders, Congressional Black Caucas, Black Journalists, Hollywood celebrities, and limo liberals? They yelled themselves 'horse' over South Africa, but aren't saying a word here. Why?....And for the 2nd time, I ask, "Where are all the African-Americans on THIS blog who are always pointing-fingers on everything else?

Frankly, steamboat, I don't think anyone can derive any satisfaction from this.

The South Africans are very lucky to have a leader like Mandela who opted for reconciliation to heal his country. And despite all the problems S Africa has, they can work together to solve them.

The people of Zimbabwe are stuck with this egotistical murderer, and will have to liberate themselves. Which I believe they eventually will.

I don't know how many civil rights leaders are or aren't commenting. But I'd say the ones that are hypocritically silent because of some warped sense of racial solidarity belong in the same circle of the Inferno as Jews who ignore and defend the crimes of Israel.

Sadly, there's more than enough hypocrisy to go around. We can remember the white Christians who belonged to segregated churches, Anglo-Saxons who hated and persecuted the Irish etc. The list is VERY long, and each of us is probably descended from someone who, along the historical trail, raped, murdered or forcefully absorbed some losing tribe.

A little humility would serve us all, less finger-pointing and more good will and recognition of our common humanity, the good and the bad.

Oh no, the finger-pointers are no better than anybody else. Nobody is exempt. So where are they?

well, to answer your question, here is 'one of the above' who sees thru the racist propaganda big-lie campaign against zimbabwe. who won the last election in ghana? who's ahead in the polls in cameroon? don't know? neither do i. do you really believe the "western"(codeword for white) media would be covering an election in zimbabwe if mugabe hadnt taken the land from the white colonialists and given it back to his people?

Actually its the Blacks (especially Nkono's tribe) who are being beaten, harrassed, killed. Whites had money, they can leave if they want. And personally, the reason those nasty white folks whom you hate (CODEWORD: Europeans and US) haven't intervined is because 1) because Mugabe is black and they don't to be accused of being racist, and 2) the Euro's are soft. Remember how they left as peacekeepers in Rwanda and we all know what happened afterwards.

Sounds almost as bad as Bush v Gore in 2000, one of the candidates got a majority of the votes yet the election was stolen by government officials.

Where are the rest of the African Nations? They watch and do nothing. As they watch they are a guilty as those who carry out these crimes. It's up to Africa to take care of Africa.

They sure took care of Darfur, Rwanda, Congo, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Uganda haven't they?....Oh yeah, them and those European UN peacekeepers before the Rwanda genocide.

what are you talking about? Obama??? "one of them"??? Are you really that racist and ignorant or are you just pretending to be?

By your logic, all whites are mass murderers because Hitler was white. Or are you condemning Obama because his father was Kenyan? Newsflash: Zimbabwe != Kenya. Yes, they are both in the CONTINENT of Africa. But just because Oregon is on the same continent as Greenland that does not mean the people or the politics from both places are the same. I can point out other fallacies in your stupid statement but I've spent too much time on your ignorance as it is.

You got the "junkie" part right, but independent? I think you need an entirely different modifier/moniker, like, say "racistjunkie."

And by the way, white people seem to have really nailed things down well on the planet, eh?

Ugh, please, whatever you do, *don't procreate* and make little copies of fearful, brainless, hate-mongrels.

Wow that is awful......it is hard to believe that any intelligent people would do such a thing.....(major sarcasm here)

from John Seery's Huffpost article 'Testicles':

"Yesterday, John Yoo and David Addington, the nation's architects for torture, were given several chances, testifying in front of the House Judiciary Committee, to condemn the very idea of torturing the children of detainees as a way of extracting information.

In several public fora heretofore, Yoo has insisted that no law -- neither domestic nor international -- prevents the president from authorizing the crushing of a child's testicles or the raping of an infant as a way of exerting pressure upon a terrorist suspect."

THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE. THIS IS THE UNITED STATES HERE!!! You are blogging about those monsters.......look at our own government.

Perhaps Yoo would appreciate a taste of his own medicine, just to verify its effectiveness of course.

The best thing for the United States to do in Zimbabwae is to stay out. There is no genocide going on in Zimbabwae. We all have our Opinions of Mugabe, but 20 years ago many people had a differnt Opinion of Mugabe, and 20 years from now we may have a different Opinion

No genocide? Just elimintating the oppostion by whatever means neccessary fails to rise to the definition of genocide, I suppose.

the danger of allowing the "genocide" loophole into international law as a "legitimate" excuse to intervene against sovereign states is that it has become a plaything in the hands of imperialists who interpret it to advance their own self-serving interests. thus 85 people killed in zimbabwe is genocide, but 200,000 dead iraquis is "collateral damage".

Let us pray that when Mugabe's regime begins to crumble, there is no nation desparate enough to give him sanctuary.
