Anti-Obama Vandalism: City Vehicles Spray Painted With Racial Attacks

MyFoxOrlando reports:

The Orlando Police Department found dozens of city owned vehicles vandalized Saturday.

The vandal or vandals appear to have political intentions; most of the vehicles were spray painted with anti Obama sayings, with 'Obama' misspelled several times. Some of their vehicles had their gas caps removed.

Officials said that gas caps were removed from several of the vehicles and they aren't sure if gas was stolen or if something could have been added to the tanks that will damage the engines.

More details from WFTV Orlando:

Phrases including "Obmama smokes crack" and others phrases with racial slurs were written in blue spray paint on the white city cars and trucks.

Other vehicles appeared to have had their gas tanks tampered with.

Along with the paint, hundreds of business cards were left on windshields.

The cards contain criticism of Obama on one side, and support for Hillary Clinton and her family on the other side.

The same cards were left on channel nine vehicles in Daytona Beach several weeks ago.

The vandalism happened the same night the Obama campaign kicked off its Florida organization with parties across the state.

I hope that all of the canidates that ran, and are currently running, will come out against violent attacks like this. This has nothing to do with someone expressing their right to free speech, but more like a display of bigotry and intolerance.

As an Obama supporter, I do not believe these rogues with miserable lives who defiled the citizens' property just to display their ignorance and hate are Hillary clinton supporters. They just want to damage the Clintons by pretending to speak for her. They cloud even be GOP hacks trying to put a wedge in the unity effort started by Barack and Hillary. I'm an Obama supporter and I think that you should chill out on the 'delusional' accusation. Scarlatti isn't trying to say that whoever did it was aiming to discredit Clinton---just that it wouldn't be far-fetched that repubs try to re-drive a wedge between the Obama & Clinton effort to unite the two camps. I happen to agree, and I don't find such a theory unrealistic. McCain and his surrogates are out there trying to do the very same thing right before our eyes...they are none too happy that they might not get legions of former Hillary folks switching to mcsame. Polls show them losing on this by a long shot.

While it may very well have been Clinton diehards who were deranged enough to do the deed, I also think it's plausible to imagine crooked GOP folks behind it, too.

Such acts of hatred far exceed any party loyalty. Unfortunately, the media feeds into the sickness of bigotry with its fixation on reporting voting blocks by race, gender, education, and religion. This polarization unfortunately will continue to give rise to acts of bigotry, not racism. BTW, this incident IMHO would be right at home in "Tricky Dick" Nixon's playbook, back in the day when (among other things) GOP loyalists would drive cars with "McGovern for President" bumper stickers and deliberately cut people off on the freeway in the hopes of generating as much bad will as possible towards Nixon's rival for the office of the Presidency. Looks more like history repeating itself than an act of political vandalism by Clinton loyalists.

P.S. Anyone tempted to accuse me of wearing a tinfoil hat best remember the street cop's definition of the word conspiracy: two or more people get together and agree to commit a crime. People are convicted daily in US criminal courts on the charge of "Conspiracy to Commit a Crime," which IIRC is a felony in all 50 states. So if two hooligans can agree to knock over the corner liquor store for the cash in the till, it stands to good reason and with plenty of historical evidence to back it up, that when the stakes get higher, the conspiracies can be just as prevalent, if not more so.

Minor point, maybe, but if you were paying attention, you'd understand. Vandalism against private property is an offense against a person, vandalism of the type described is an offense against EVERYONE!
