Bill Clinton Says Obama Must 'Kiss My Ass' For His Support

Bill Clinton is so bitter about Barack Obama's victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg for his wholehearted support.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president's future campaign role is a "sticking point" in peace talks with Mrs Clinton's aides.

The Telegraph has learned that the former president's rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.

A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.

I really want to understand why Bill is upset. Yea, you want to be strong for your wife but it's not BHOs fault that she lost. Bill was complaining that BHO was trying to undermine what he did as POTUS against his wife - but that's fair game because she was running on Bill's presidency and legacy. You can't have both ways. Bill's anger is unwarranted, ridiculous, misplaced, childish and he won't see how it will negatively impact his legacy. I had him as the 2nd best POTUS in American History, only to FDR, but the smearing of BHO is gonna hurt his legacy more than anything else. Additionally, the Clintons probably believed that people - namely black people and women - owed the presidency to them, and the fact of the matter is that neither group did and what all politicians should learn from this is that no vote should be taken for granted and that it takes more than a particular group of people to become POTUS.

Yes, it is "shocking" that a former president would say something so juvenile. Shocking, but considering Clinton's past performance with Monica and other ladies, not completely surprising.

I'm hoping he will stay out of the limelight. He has embarrassed himself and the American people too many times by his undiplomatic words. Certainly he has the right to feel "bitter" about the outcome of the primaries, but to imply that Obama won because of some underhanded plot against Hillary is ridiculous when just the opposite is true.

The ego's of Clinton who wants Obama to beg for his support and McCain who calls former president Carter stupid makes me cringe. It is time for a leader who will make us proud.

Whether it is true that he is withholding and bitter or it is just made up gossip (which it may very well be), the fact remains that Bill Clinton has not expressed enthusiasm for the democratic nominee. This former president is so intelligent, so charming and has much to be grateful for. It would be excellent if he could summon the best within himself and help unite the democrats. He could lead the way in letting go of the anger. I hope he sees that it is better for his legacy as a politician (and a human being) that he sincerely helps to get Obama elected as President, and that that will take nothing away from him because to give is to receive.
