Bill Clinton Speaking

The Telegraph:

Bill Clinton is so bitter about Barack Obama's victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg for his wholehearted support.

Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president's future campaign role is a "sticking point" in peace talks with Mrs Clinton's aides.

The Telegraph has learned that the former president's rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.

A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.

nice McCain talking point on the Carter presidency, the Bush presidency is any better, most of Carters was the bill coming in for the Vietnam war that is what we get for borrowing to pay for wars!!!!!!!!
President Clinton is not use to losing so he has some time to cool off.
Hillary was running not Bill so he really shouldn't matter but what away to leave your legacy.

If you read between the lines it really boils down to money, specifically O-bama getting Hillarys campaign debt payed off completely including and especially the money she loaned herself.
We have to realize that Bill's earning capacity, while still better than most, will be drastically less. People were willing to pay him exorbitant amounts for speeches, when in fact he was being payed for future favors because everyone was sure Hillary would be the next Prez.
That gravy train has been derailed and the 12 million or so they threw at her campaign means much more now than it would have had she won.
My guess is this might be the number one reason he is mad but could never say it publicly.

99 out of 100 questions, the answer is money.

His inflated ego has also taken a beating, but we really don't know if this story is factual.

Ole Slick Willie ain't as slick as he used to be and isn't on top of the media game anymore. He could be the "deer in the headlights" and just not know how to deal with this situation, as his actions (or inactions) would imply.

3 points:

1. The more Bill behaves this way, the smaller his stature (as some point he ceases to have "stature") and the less his endorsement matters.

2. It is possible that Bill will not keep his word even if Obama were to prostrate himself, and just keep demanding more from BO. BO should treat him like the head of a rogue state--be willing to negotiate, but demand conditions.

3. I don't think Bill intends this, but in fact his antics are making Hillary look better and better. She really has shown character throughout the whole process--could it be some of her not so nice tactics originated with BIll? He really makes it hard to select her as Veep--something which actually could be terrific.

Bill Clinton is now playing the racist label because he wants to harm Obama's chances of winning votes of white working class! No brainer!

Don't know about you but I didn't get the memo from Barack telling me Bill was a racist. I reached that conclusion on my own by listening to Bill's own words. I voted for Clinton twice and ignored his distructive selfish behavior, but I'm done with him. Obama should keep him at a cool distance. If there's any ass kissing to do it should be Bill doing it.

Exactly! He did all the race card, condescending comments about Obama and now wants Obama to apologize for Bill's own actions? It should be no surprise from the man of "it depends on what "is" is".

TOTALLY AGREE ~~~ and frankly, think in some repscts goes in regards to Hillary as well !!! The utter arrogance by the Clintons and the damage they HAVE WROUGHT and yet continueing is outrageous !!! (Frankly, still see Hillary "dangling" that she CONROLS 18million voters and attempts to have the ante UPPED by encouraging the MEDIA to endorse HER as THE PREMIER LEADER OF WOMEN VOTERS....requires a double HUH in the chutpah dept !! She played the "fem card " and her campers played the race card and CLAIM THEY were the victims !! The nonsense of claiming that UNLESS she IS appeased, women will NOT vote Obama and head to McCain or stay home should be realized to be another ployed manipulative to cling to party empowerment by the Clinton group !!

Yes, but The Telegraph is a very respected newspaper. I don't think they would print something so inflammatory without having their sources in line. And the story broke yesterday, I think - if there were a rebuttal, I think we would have had it already.

LOL, NO, actually NOt for the Clintons are KNOWN to carry grudges and much like Bushie, seek retribution no matter how long it takes !!!
Think it points up a MAJOR reasoning just WHY Hillary NOT a serious considered person to fill the VP spot as the Clintons have a personal agenda THEY wish persued no matter the consequences to others and are yet persuing it . Hillary is making "public" "nice", but visually too, able to see LACK of whole hearted enthusiasm and comes off as a charade to be able to claim SHE performed but if he loses, which the CLinton campers HOPE for , even rather YET standing by just incase something happens between now and the convention where he OFFICIALLY is the nominee, well SHOULD something or other occur, She and Bill are ready to step UP and take over !!!

Bill acted in radist ways when he questioned Barack's patrioitism; remember Bill's comment how Hillary and McCain 'cared' about this counry and much worse. Bill Clinton has always been a little man; he was never a statesman.

I agree valawstudent, but it's not that this is disappointing, I'ts that Bill Clinton is disappointing. Moreover, if that is truely his attitude Obama should just let it go. All of the good will we had for Bill Clinton was marginalized during the campaign. His support isn't worth it. I can't recall anyone who Bill has capaigned for that actually won there contest; Obama would do well to stear clear of him.

As always, they try to put the Clinton in the worst light. I never by the crap in read or hear on tv unless I watch the person say it with my own eyes and ears.

if you "love" your country so much the choice should be really clear, more of the same failed policies executed by a tired old crab, or a fresh new approach and a chance to get the country back on the right track, this isn't rocket science.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:06 AM on 06/30/2008

"or a fresh new approach"

Did not know that "fresh new approach" meant turning to the right and triangulating.

Do enjoy the many new right turns a'comin.

Carter's presidency was marred by two factors - First, his staff did not know how to work with Congress. Secondly, even though the Democrats had the majority, there was a tremendous split from the '68 and '72 elections. The anti-war faction and the more pragmatic center were never united. So, how will this coming administration be different? Give 'em Hell, Bill, even though you had your head screwed on backwards on NAFTA.

Even Tony Blair cannot go this low! Bill Clinton is a horribly sad figure. Obama needs to watch how he uses Hillary avoid Bill at all cost. He does not need the Clintons to win and with this latest comment coming out Bill Clinton vry dirty mouth, other undecided demos will come on to the Obama side.

Bill Clintons presidency will hold up to test of time as long as we don't have Republicans hijack the system forever and rewrite history. His present demeanor will soften and he'll get over the fact Hillary lost.If there were any problems with the elections he would already have detailed them to the public. This was a tough election for the Clintons to lose and they saw a lot of their "political allies"jump ship and he's a little despondent right now.His presidency was a total success and even the Republican assault on an extra marital affair proved a dismal failure. It showed America the true stripes of the Republican party and how the same people that were trying to crucify him were lower than pond scum in their own private lives. We have seen the glory of a Republican led government and America and the world on the whole is fed up with them.

His presidency was a total success for the hard right republicans. Under Clinton, they:
1. Gained control of both houses of congress
2. Passed NAFTA, gutting the manufacturing base and sending jobs overseas for massive profit
3. Passed welfare 'reform', which costs more than welfare did but shreds the safety net for the very poorest, least educated AND THEIR CHILDREN
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

Bills attacks are not on the Republican Party, they are on the Democratic party. The very democrats who defended him, not the despicable acts that he engaged in as POTUS in our White House.

This isn't about the success or failures of his presidency, this is about his behavior today and what's best for the country.

it is early in the morning here, so my thoughts are little rusty but I think Americans d need to make sure that Obama is protected from the Clintons. This comment is not a little gaffe. Nah, President Clinton didn't really say that, did he? Because IMO, with the way it seems his attitude has been lately, if I were Senator O, I'd be telling someone to "Kiss My Azz". Enough is enough and some people need to grow up and stop being a nuisance. Everyday it seems that the President is being a distraction in some way or another. President Clinton needs to get on the O train or be quiet and I hate to be disrespectful to him, but Geesh, his tirade is starting to be a little old.

Certainly helps to clarify just WHY Hillary will NOT be the VP selection, NONE CAN AFFORD THE CLINTONS, and they are proving MORE of a distraction even NOW !! AMazing for supposedly are savvy "politico's", they are damaging themselves even more and even Hillary , with her tepid sort of public embracement to endorse Obama but with those strings of assistance to retire HER campaign debt and what roles at the convention and future positons...Nonsense too dangling that SHE could become Senate LEAD...SHE IS YET A JUNIOR SENATOR HERSELF !!! The Clintons OVER RATE THEMSELVES and in the process, DEMINSHIH THEMSELVES as well !!!
Obama should NOT let the Clinton jerking continue to yank further chains...WE THE PEOPLE WANT CHANGE and the Clintons need to realize , once the PEOPLE started voting and caucussing, OBAMA WAS SELECTED and THEY WERE REJECTED and THEY DID NOT MAKE THE SALE !!!

I love the last hold out Hillary supporters. Nothing is enough for you. Obama has sucked up to Hillary on a daily bases and has treated her with nothing but respect. But still you ask for more even though the most hard core of you probably won't vote for Obama anyway. Then you try to blame Obama for the racial slurs some of your fellow supporters probably spray painted on government cars in FL. I'm done caring who you people vote for in the end. If you vote for four years of Bush under McBush you get exactly what your spite deserves, four more years of policies that hurt YOUR self interests. If you think this country can wait another four years for your mighty savior Hillary you are dead wrong. We WILL already be at war with Iran and Roe v. Wade WILL already be overturned.

Funny, I live right outside Orlando and the news here has NOT reported that in fact this was done by her supporters. So, please we've all had enough of the O supporters lies and smears.

All she has to do is endorse him and that she has done.. What do people like you want? I am quite sure that Obama would not be doing the same for her if she won the nonimation.. Actually, you know what, we don't blame Obama at all. We blame people with your attitude and your take on things. Your particular terminology in your post says it all. Divisive. I wanted HRC, but have an Obama sticker on my car. I found Obama followers have had little to say about their candidate and volumes to say about how awful HRC is/was. If you continue to keep up the whining, its will not help the cause
