The National Black Republican Association has launched the most personalized attacks of the presidential campaign to date, accusing Barack Obama of being an "arrogant elitist," and raising his connections to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko.

In three radio spots that the organization modestly claims are "eye-opening," the NBRA goes where its GOP counterparts have not: throwing the kitchen sink at Obama -- including racial references -- in hopes that something sticks. "Racist Democrats declared they would vote for a 'yellow dog' before a Republican because the Republican Party was the party for blacks," one ad states. "Racist Democrats will not vote for Obama, a black man."

In another 60-second spot entitled "Arrogant Obama," the narrator states:

"Bitter is what Obama called blacks and whites who love God. Racist is what Obama called his white grandmother who raised him and made sacrifices so Obama could get a good education and become a millionaire. Obama's friends are terrorist Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright who said innocent Americans deserved to die on September 11th. Obama is an arrogant elitist who turned his back on poor blacks and his own country."

From another spot, entitled "Radical Obama":

"Look beyond Barack Obama's skin color and soaring rhetoric and you will see an arrogant, elitist millionaire whose voting record is the most liberal in Congress. Look at the people around Obama, and you will understand that Obama lacks the judgment to be our next president. Obama's mentor for 20-years was Rev. Jeremiah Wright who said innocent Americans deserved to die on September 11th. Obama's 20-year friend and bagman was Tony Rezko who was recently convicted of fraud."

The ads, according to an NBRA press release, will air on radio stations in battleground states. But what kind of affect they'll have (or seriousness with which they'll be regarded) is in serious doubt.

For starters, the NBRA is targeting African Americans -- a constituency deeply committed to Obama -- with hopes of getting 25 percent of the black vote. That, objectively, would be a minor miracle for the GOP, which is staring at massive losses among the constituency. Secondly, there is no word yet as to the extent of the group's ad buy, and calls to find out went unreturned.

There have always been Black republicans and initially most freedmen identified with that party. Time and history has of course changed all that for the majority of Black people. With that said it is ironic that in all these years there has never been a need for a special core of black republicans to group themselves together and speak out for or against anything - before a Black man starting winning his bid for POTUS. Black republicans or house negroes have always played this role throughout American history whenever it was thought that one among them was somehow stepping out of place. It was the house negroes job to inform the master of the house about this behavior, and to keep the rest of the negroes from following his/her example or supporting their efforts in rising up to do better or be better. Someone should tell these negroes that Black folks have been free for a long time now and house negroes are no longer needed in this role. The only purpose they serve today is to provide comfort and fond memories to those who still wish for the good old days when Sam wanted nothing more than to be a good boy for his master.

This argument would have more weight if the Republican Party actually elected a black man or black woman to Congress in this decade.

Why couldn't Repubs get'er done in Pennsylvania with Swan? No black Republican governors

Why couldn't Repubs get'er done with Steele? No black Republican Senators

There is only one black person in the Senate and he is from the Democratic Party.

Sorry black a$$ clowns supporting the Republican Party, but I am sticking with the Democrats.

You're an idiot. The Republican party doesn't elect anyone. The people do. And if I recall correctly, Pennsylvania will be an important swing state and if you think Obama will fair better than Lynn Swann then you are crazy.

Why do we have to do anything to get their vote? They are Americans just like any other and I don't think that we need to pander to anyone to get their vote. Unlike Obama who pandered to everyone to get the nomination and is now showing his true colors by reversing his position on many issues. This is the beginning of the end for Obama.

TORREP - it is clear that you are struggling hard with this wave of support for Barack Obama. It (Obama's success) is actually a good thing for you to have to come to terms with.

How many black republicans do you know personally? Can you name one? If so, ask them why they are Republicans?

Barack's evolution is good for you. You will learn something about the diverse people and world around you.

The organization, national black republicans, is run by a bunch of crack pots who distort and recreate history with lies ... no wonder they are republicans ... that's exactly what republicans do.

Republicans, included but not limited to national black republicans, lie about, well, just about everything and they want to keep the poor folks (black & white) poor and they want the rich to get richer. Let's not forget they want to keep the uneducated ... uneducated.

The uneducated population will believe all the lies republicans spew.

Could you explain "exactly" what lies your are referring to?
What have the dems done for the blacks.......can you point out a few items for me? As far as education goes - it is the Reps who have tried for years to get a school voucher program implemented, and the dems have always stopped it. This program would give parents a choice, they could take their children out of the poorly performing schools, and place them where they could get a better education. Remember the dems are the ones who have the Education Unions in their back pockets........why haven't they done more for the black schools? They have been working together for years, but nothing ever seems to improve. You also might want to look at those we call "the poverty pimps"....Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc.......they love to stir up trouble, and shake down companies.....they always seem to come out on top money wise, but not the working class blacks they are suppose to be helping. With all of their so called clout........have they made life better for you, or for themselves?

NOTPC: the lie they are telling here is that Sen. Obama is not going to be good for America! Truthfully that is the only lie of importance in those ads. And as to what have the Democrats done for AA I would answer alot and still not enough, but far more than many republicans. Your point seems to be -which is better the guy who watches you starve and tosses you a crumb or the guy who doesn't bother to watch you starve but likes the fights that occur while watching you fight for crumbs that the other guy gave you! OBAMA IS THE ANSWER TO ALL THAT FOR ALL OF US WHO HAVE STARVED OVER THE PAST DECADE AND MORE. As for you saying "we" call Jackson and Sharpton "poverty pimps" that must be the elite "royal we" because you do not speak for me or millions of other Black people who have benefitted simply by having our issues heard.. even if not addressed. Many have died doing less.

Really? Maybe you could provide us with some of examples of the lies these people have told. Maybe you could provide some examples of the rewriting of history. Show me some examples of them trying to keep the uneducated uneducated. Please back up one thing you have stated.

These are the same AA that front for corporations to get minority contracts and are the same AA's that fought with their slave masters during the civil war against the north.Their motto is "I'm alright Jack scr**w you!"
These oppertunists without conscience should BO win, will be falling over themselves to prove they were always with him as long as there is something in it for them.

If republicans want more african americans to join their party, they need to stop things like this. I am probably a little more conservative then many, but I could never associate with people like this. I would never USE my race, as cover, to say racist or offensive things. Its sad, because black republicans always talk about transending race, and not wanting to be seen as a group (rather as individuals), and yet their only function in the repub party seems to be as self hating, tools of offense for their party. When they are on TV they are put there, it seems to attack whatever black politician is in the news. On Radio they write books like "STUPID BLACK MEN", by Larry Elders.

Being black, conservative, and republican is totally valid. But its things like this, that make it seem like being black and republican either means not liking other blacks, or being a safe voice to express racist ideas for the republicans. You can be balck, republican, proud of Obama's accomplishment, and still vote against him. His acheivement, is our achievement. We should all be proud. But these blacks attacking blacks, because supposedly their party thinks they won't be called racist is silly. Racist, is in what you say, not in who says it

You're not very bright are you? I have read several of Larry Elders books and I think he is right on about most of hat he says. He advocates personal responsibility, regardless of circumstances, to reach your goals in life. Democrats advocate playing the race card and blaming the white man for all of the problems blacks face today. They never want to accept any personal responsibility for any of the decisions they make in life. It's always someone else's fault. Racist is how you view life. If you make poor choices and blame another race for those choices then you are a racist.

Do you really consider this cut-and-paste of talking points to be an original thought. No one has said anything about personal resposibility. The point was about republicans USING blacks, to attack other blacks. It was about books with titles like, "STUPID BLACK MEN", forcing black people to disregard ideas and political affiliations, that could benefit them. When a book has a tilte like that, its contents become secondary. It becomes a book that is more about giving non-blacks a cover for expressing and thinking, blatently racist things (because Larry said it first). And please don't give me the whole don't judge a book by its cover nonsense.

Commercials like these, and the statements (and books) of so many black republicans are so offensive and off-putting that one has to wonder if they really want other blacks to join their party. It seems more like, they are enjoying being the only black person in the room!

And here we thought this would be a different campaign season.

How silly of me. I receive anti Obama emails daily that are more about scare tactics and race than issues. The is the GOP game plan since they have nothing to offer the voters.

If the voters fall for the nasty GOP tricks this time, I truly will give up.

They are wackadoodles, as Mo Dowd would say. A little googling shows they are located in a downscale mall in Sarasota, florida. They are only a couple of years old. They are not a national organization. Just some folks in a mall in Florida. The Chairman Frances Rice apparently uses the organization as a self promotion vehicle. Her entire board resigned a while back for reasons related to her egomaniacal management style. They operate essentially as a 527 through their affiliate the National Black Republican Federation. While they have no official connection to the Republican Party, Ms Rice is on an RNC committee. I would just bet they have back door funding from the RNC.

THANK-YOU! I CONCUR ! I couldn't have said it better!!!!

The Republicans are running around like little wackos' trying to throw everything at Senator Obama to distract him from his message and vision for our country
.
The fact that African Americans ALLOWED themselves to be used as political pawns is beyond belief to me.
The web address for this sham of an organization is www.NBRA.info. They don't have a .com or .org address.
Their email address is NBRA.info@NBRA.info
