Nbra

The National Black Republican Association has launched the most personalized attacks of the presidential campaign to date, accusing Barack Obama of being an "arrogant elitist," and raising his connections to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko.

In three radio spots that the organization modestly claims are "eye-opening," the NBRA goes where its GOP counterparts have not: throwing the kitchen sink at Obama -- including racial references -- in hopes that something sticks. "Racist Democrats declared they would vote for a 'yellow dog' before a Republican because the Republican Party was the party for blacks," one ad states. "Racist Democrats will not vote for Obama, a black man."

In another 60-second spot entitled "Arrogant Obama," the narrator states:

"Bitter is what Obama called blacks and whites who love God. Racist is what Obama called his white grandmother who raised him and made sacrifices so Obama could get a good education and become a millionaire. Obama's friends are terrorist Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright who said innocent Americans deserved to die on September 11th. Obama is an arrogant elitist who turned his back on poor blacks and his own country."

From another spot, entitled "Radical Obama":

"Look beyond Barack Obama's skin color and soaring rhetoric and you will see an arrogant, elitist millionaire whose voting record is the most liberal in Congress. Look at the people around Obama, and you will understand that Obama lacks the judgment to be our next president. Obama's mentor for 20-years was Rev. Jeremiah Wright who said innocent Americans deserved to die on September 11th. Obama's 20-year friend and bagman was Tony Rezko who was recently convicted of fraud."

The ads, according to an NBRA press release, will air on radio stations in battleground states. But what kind of affect they'll have (or seriousness with which they'll be regarded) is in serious doubt.

For starters, the NBRA is targeting African Americans -- a constituency deeply committed to Obama -- with hopes of getting 25 percent of the black vote. That, objectively, would be a minor miracle for the GOP, which is staring at massive losses among the constituency. Secondly, there is no word yet as to the extent of the group's ad buy, and calls to find out went unreturned.

Are you f***ing kidding me!!! And they've got the nerve to use MLK in their ad ! If MLK could see what these fellow AAs are doing he would be very ashamed. No, I'm not saying that all AAs must support Obama, but if you don't agree with him or support him, fine. You're opinion. But using an attack ad...no a race-baiting attack ad...wow, I think I'm going to be sick!

Thank you for that. Black people are not going to blindly support Obama because he's Black.
But for these, in the oh-so-elegant terms of another poster, hankie-head, oreo, uncle tom's to attempt a racial smear is mind-boggling.
Until one remember they are republican.....Pathetic.

"Black Democratic leaders in Maryland say that racially tinged attacks against Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in his bid for the U.S. Senate are fair because he is a conservative Republican."

"Such attacks against the first black man to win a statewide election in Maryland include pelting him with Oreo cookies during a campaign appearance, calling him an "Uncle Tom" and depicting him as a black-faced minstrel on a liberal Web log."

"Operatives for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) also obtained a copy of his credit report -- the only Republican candidate so targeted."

"State Sen. Lisa A. Gladden, a black Baltimore Democrat, said she does not expect her party to pull any punches, including racial jabs at Mr. Steele, in the race to replace retiring Democratic U.S. Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes."

"Delegate Salima Siler Marriott, a black Baltimore Democrat, said Mr. Steele invites comparisons to a slave who loves his cruel master or a cookie that is black on the outside and white inside because his conservative political philosophy is, in her view, anti-black."

"During the 2002 campaign, Democratic supporters pelted Mr. Steele with Oreo cookies during a gubernatorial debate at Morgan State University in Baltimore."

From the Washington Times? The Rev. Moon house organ for the GOP? I wouldn't believe anything they put in print. How about some other sources?

I never heard any of that. But i can see how angry progressives, would think of these black republiseers, who support klan like behavior. They would have stayed in the closet like the log cabin republicaned gays, if that were possible, i am sure they tried. I have a brother who's a black republican. He hates the rest of our family, Hates all black people. These black republiseers remind me so much of him.

The only people who are better off today than when Bush was elected are the top 5% income earners and asset holders. The bottom 95% are not happy campers. The fiscally responsible party showed us a new deifinition of fiscal responsibility. This definition includes being responsible only to the already over-privileged.

Bush was inaugurated with a $5 trillion surplus staring him in the face. He leaves with a $10 Trillion staring him in the ass. Since we know that the war has cost less than $1 trillion to date, the rest has gone to someone else and not to those poor and middle class entitlement recepients, either.

That $10 trillion deficit (or what ever number it turns in to) is not pointed at GWB's ass- its getting ready to wedge itself up ours, our kids and our grandkids backsides.

Lets all give a proper and respectful kowtow to our new and generous superpower overlords:
"The Republic of China".

Here's to hoping they are kind, gracious and merciful in their world dominance- because they won't have to be!

Public self loathing is not a pretty thing to watch. I wonder if they put on a minstrel show for Massa afterwards.

I personally use the moniker "Uncle Ruckus."

Props to Aaron McGruder for setting the record straight on "Uncle Tom" and giving us a more appropriate character to describe Justice Thomas, Armstrong Williams, Thomas Sowell and other self-loathing members of "our community."

I think one could detect more racism in the readers' comments below than in the ad this article is about. In fact, I didn't see any racism (that being "Prejudice or discrimination based on an individual's race") in the ad.

I saw a lame ad which attempts to stir up yesterweek's news and incite anger. The joking in the comments below about slavery, plantations and masters is just as pathetic. If there are black people with beliefs that lie further to the right, then so be it. That's their choice. Crucifying them for exercising their right to choose and suggesting they're some kind of traitor is ridiculous. I know most of us are pro-Obama, but come on!

I'm with you, Chad. However, know that the NBRA likes to use race-related metaphors as much as they possibly can. I got an advance alert about the ads and I was confused about what they were trying to accomplish. Here is their boolean logic:

IF all Dems are godless Socialists AND all godless Socialists are evil AND Barack Obama is a Dem THEN Barack Obama is a godless Socialist.

Guess that about sums it up. Predictable as the day is long.

These links will provide a little background about the group. (short - two pages each)

This one is particularly interesting as it predicts this years candidates for Dems and Reps.

Is this organization run by Charlie Black? (I am not aware of any african americans that are GOP members. JC Watts was the last one. He had a great future, but was with the wrong party).

These must be the guys the Republicans put on the back of the podium so that their conventions look "diverse." I've often wondered what they do when they're not being used as stage props.

It is quite unfortunate. This is the lowest any sane American will descend to. Reminds me of the betrayals in Weep Not Child by Ngugi Wa'thiong.I just held back my tears. How much were they really paid for selling their consciences.

Have a look at the photos of their 2008 annual meeting. There are at least as many white faces as black. And the "overflow" crowd looks like it exceeded all of 75, and I'm being generous.

Fascinating. Now why would so many white people be in the audience at a black republican meeting?

I love how the room they are holding the meeting in is TINY to begin with and then they have a picture to emphasize they have three people in the "overflow crowd." LOL

The part i find interesting, they show pictures of past black republicans, in their republican history page. But failed to mention most of the famous black people on that page were Lincoln Republicans and the Democratic party from the 40s to the 60s were filled with DIXIECRATS. Much of their claims are false and misleading. Which lead me to the fact, these black republicans are purposely taking orders from their massas, to muddy the waters. This ad is intended to cause an uproar between black people. By soliciting very hateful and negative responses (my earlier one that was rightfully taken down for bad words) They'd like to portray Obama as a Malcolm x. They'd put glasses on him with a quote above his head "by any means necessary. Racist have always used their house blacks to do their dirty work.

My, my, my ---- these fools have been actually coersed into using the color of THEIR skin to degrade Obama. I would love to see the reactions of THEIR grandparents.

They don't have the sense God gave them to question issues. Instead, they're STILL being TOLD what to do.

I don't blame the Republican-like to USE them.

ahhh...and the democratic party DOESN'T?

i think the democrats need to stop acting as if the AA community belongs to them...a republican named lioncoln had something to say about that notion

There is a lot of difference between the time Lincoln was president. Time change, nothing remains the same. Lincoln being a republican has nothing to do with todays REPUBLIKLAN party. In fact, the republican party of today would have been the confederates and their present day counterparts, the BLACK REPUBLISEERS, would be the red pants black who fought (carried the human waste buckets) alongside them.
