Campaign Manager: McCain "Loves To Tool Around On The Internet"

This morning, Obama communications director Robert Gibbs took a shot at John McCain for not knowing what an "Internet" was or how to set up the tube in his own home or office, leaving it up to McCain campaign manager Rick Davis to defend the candidate's computer literacy. Davis insisted that McCain is a big fan of "tooling around" on the web, and is well-known for grabbing the Blackberries of reporters so that he can watch all the pretty flashing lights. Why reporters willingly give up their Blackberries to McCain is a complete mystery, my guess it is a result of McCain "feigning an interest in their lives."

BRZEZINSKI: Did you hear Robert Gibbs? I think he might have just subtly tried to undermine your candidate's lack of internet capabilities. Did you hear that, Rick?

DAVIS: I have no idea what he's talking about. We are cool and groovy...I tell you, we are down with it also. So, I can't imagine what he is talking about.

BRZEZINSKI: Does John McCain, does he use the internet? Does he use email?

GEIST: Come on.

BRZEZINSKI: I just want to know.

DAVIS: He actually is, he always is grabbing people's Blackberrys on the bus. In fact, no reporter's Blackberry is safe from his prying eyes. He loves to tool around on the internet, he especially loves the videos that get produced that usually poke fun at him. I think that's his most entertaining part of the internet.

BRZEZINSKI: I've been known to call his Blackberry, begging for interviews. So I think any reports out there that says that he is not completely Internet connected are not accurate. But I have read them.

Yeh yeh yeh. John McCain loves to tool around on the internet. And Karl Rove & Bush Jr. had a contest to see who could read more classical literature. And the Brooklyn bridge is up for sale. I don't think we should believe anything said by a campaign manager that's followed by the phrase "...yeh, that's the ticket!"

The McCain team can spin this until they are dizzy, but to quote McCain himself, he is "computer illiterate and needs Cindy to work it for him''. I don't believe much of what McCain says, but on this one I will take him at his word.

Was it me, or did Brzenzinski rather ooze support for McCain throught her segment today?

I know she surely was huffy about Clark's statement - one that I don't think you can logically argue with - that McCain's experience in the military is being unrealistically used to portray him as the ideal "Commander in Chief".

I'm a vet, and I think my service was worth something. But that very experience makes me aware that military service - even during wartime - alone does not automatically elevate the individual to Godhood.

Although there is absolutely no comparison between the two individuals and I mean to infer none, I wonder how deep you would have to scratch history to find that Adolf Hitler's military and wartime experience also was used to sway some into believing that he too would automatically be a good leader?

If he loves the internet that much, or know how to use it or send emails, why not get McCain a blackberry?

A blackberry is not that expensive, his campaign can pay for it; I even believe that RIMM will be willing to give him one for free and maybe one of these Phone companies will be more than willing sign him up for FREE.
