Joe Lieberman On Face

Lacking any cogent plan to solve America's problems or a platform of coherent policy proposals, the McCain campaign has got only a few stale acts in its repertoire. One is empty headed fear-mongering. That's the role that the GOP's aide-de-camp Joe Lieberman found himself playing on this week's Face The Nation, where he warned that al Qaeda would "test the new President early." What does that mean for Joe Lieberman? That means America needs John McCain, who will be "ready on day one" to continue the Bush administration's policies of appeasement that have allowed al Qaeda to regroup, flourish, and uhm . . . presumably plan this welcome-wagon act that Lieberman is predicting. Anyway, the joke will be on everybody else when George W. Bush crowns himself President-for-Life, thus foiling al-Qaeda's plans forever.

[WATCH.]

LIEBERMAN: We need a president who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief on day one. Senator McCain is - incidentally, Senator Clinton said that over and over again and she was right. She was ready to be president on day one. Why? Because our enemies will test the new president early. Remember that the truck bombing at the World Trade Center happened in the first year of the Clinton administration. 9/11 happened in the first year of the Bush administration. John McCain is ready to take the reins on January 20, 2009. He doesn't need any training.

How many times have these repugs (and yes joe fits in there too) had this "death wish" for America? They keep hoping for another attack just so they can keep their jobs. These people are truly as unpatriotic as can be. They are truly sick!

Back in 2000, i went through a torturous phase of self examination that centered on the reasons i found Lieberman so nauseating and distasteful and was i an anti semite because of this. Thanks Joe, for liberating me from this. It has been a huge load off my mind to find out that i am in no way shape or form anti semitic, but only seeing through your carefully played ruse. Joe i am in your debt. L'Chayim and go away.

Omen!

It's not because he's Jewish, it's because he's a loathsome little under-bridge-dweller.

After all, LIEberman's son-in-law, the rabbi, is an O supporter.

Shalom.

I never understood why the majority of Americans believe the Republicans are the party of choice when it comes to fighting terrorism. Is it because they talk a good game?

The outgoing Clinton administration warned the incoming Bush administration that al-Qaeda posed the greatest threat to the United States, yet they did very little their first eight months in office, even after the intelligence agencies started piecing together more facts.

When 9/11 happened, any other president would have stood up and taken responsibility, but not George W. Bush. He reverted back to his cheerleading days, fired up the masses by saying we'd get bin Laden, dead or alive, and we wouldn't distinguish between terrorist groups and the countries that harbor them.

We invade Afghanistan, but early on, that was limited to dropping bombs while the Afghans did the ground work. And it was the Afghans that allowed bin Laden to escape Tora Bora and head to Pakistan. I guess sealing off the border wasn't a priority.

With that epic failure, Bush decides to invade Iraq due to the threat Saddam Hussein posed. No WMDs, over 4,000 U.S. troops dead, possibly over 1,000,000 dead Iraqis, and over $500 billion later, what do we have to show for it?

As for bin Laden, still alive and kicking. Lucky for him, he's no longer a "concern" for Bush. In fact, he's little more than a "figurehead" now.

Am I missing something?

Nope. Spot on actually.

It's just a classic Republican response. When they do something wrong they often pretend it didn't happen. When someone tries to point it out, they call the accuser unpatriotic or even a traitor. When the facts are so clear they can't be denied, they refuse to admit it was a failure - in fact, they suddenly claim that their failures were actually successes!

When the opposition makes the exact same mistake they rant and rave and scream their heads off about it until they turn blue in the face. And then they have the gall to claim that the previous Administrations successes were actually failures. Or they will point at the new opposition who has a plan for fixing the problem and call them "soft" or "naive" - all despite the fact that THEY themselves don't have ANY plan to fix the problem.

It's called "spin." Which is politic-speak for "hypocrisy."

Sad isn't it?

Sad, yes, but the good news is John Q Public is becoming aware of their shinanigans. Soon their tactics will be so obvious that even the most devoted haters and closet racists will have a 'retch' reaction when the GOP spews their BS.

Have faith, because even Obama is feeling the power (pinch) of the revolution he started. By the end of this years campaigning, all the politicians will be vetted like never before. I love it.

Actually, it's rather widely believed that bin Laden is dead. Which is why Boosh pivoted away from making killing him the centerpiece of his War on Terr.

Bhutto said as much shortly before she was assassinated, for one example.

Ironically, because the Rethugs can't admit it, it gives the Dems a free pass to excoriate Boosh because he hasn't been able to bring bin Laden to justice.

Yeah I heard about that too.

What if he really is dead? That would be totally crazy that we wouldn't know about that (in America anyway). Talk about a betrayal by the MSM and/or the Federal Gov't.

It really makes me wonder why? Do the Republicans really need him that badly to play the boogeyman? Weird.

I really wish there was more proof one way or the other.

Unfortunately we will get more and more of this fear invoking rhetoric. Hopefully there are enough intelligent people who will see it for what it is and realize that Obama will be very capable in handling whatever threats come our way.....real or imagined. Leiberman is desperate for attention and a Party.

..hmm.... that's tempting.. Howabout this: he is an irrelevant worthless politician, who has done NOTHING of value for our country or planet, whose "tired of partisan bickering" act is really sad, old, and tiresome, just like him, and whom history will judge another empty-suit apparatchik who help enable massive civilian incinerations similar to those that exterminated six million Jews, only this time the burning came from nuclear-tipped missiles, and the 'Jews' were instead Iraqis, Afghanis (and soon to be Iranians) and he was as complicit as Goering, Goebbels and all the rest. And if he were any kind of real man, he would take the Hitler way out; mouth on his own revolver. But of course, he won't because he is not a man, but a worm. Sorry Joe, I hope that wasn't too 'partisan' of me. Jerk.

Just how do we get rid of this idiot- once and for all. He is no independent- he is a tried and true NeoCon.
How did we ever go insane enough to nearly get this one in the door of Blair House?

Vern, his selection as Gore's running mate meant that we were screwed even before we voted in 2000.

If the Republicans hadn't been able to steal the election, then at least one of the planes on 9/11 would have targeted the White House or wherever Gore was that day, so that LIEberman could ascend to the Presidency and launch the War on Terror.

Well Al Qeada followed that strategy with BUSH, especially when he did nothing about the USS Cole when he learned it was Al Qeada and the Taliban.

And it worked given Vacation Boys work habits, his Attorney General dismantling the FBI Anit terrorist group and Condi not ready for prime time, ignoring every warning and doing nothing!

Hell BUSH could not protect the Pentagon 45 minutes after the World trade towers were attacked... thats right he was still at an elementry school working on a lunch time speech for the kids.

It seems to be a given that since their greatest success was under a new repug President, they would be more likely to attack if McCain was elected.

Of course we are coming up on that 10 year window between attacks... and they now again have a safe harbor in Pakastan and Afganistan... thank you BUSH! Heckuva Job

This is coming from the lead senator on the Homeland Security committee. I think it is time to get someone more competent to head the committee. Lieberman here is basically telling the nation he is not competent enough to handled the job.

Lie-berman is AIPAC through and through. When will the Congress rise up and eject Israel from defining US foreign policy?

The Israelis via Lieberman, et.al. will endorse whichever candidate they believe will abuse US military power to fight their wars for them, give them tens of billions of dollars in military "aid", and protect them from any consequences of any action they ever commit in the UNSC.

Israel is a warmongerer that won't stop until it annhilates all its neighbors and should absolutely not dictate to us who should be deemed as a threat and who shouldn't!

We should slap sanctions on them stop their ongoing genocide in its illegal occupation! Liebermans and Israel's failed aggressive, warmongering policies will only bring further isolation to the US.

Israel and the US want Iranain nuclear tranparency ? Then Israel better be just as tranparent.

Israel refuses to sign the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty ,which Iran has done.

Israel refuses to allow IAEA inspections of their nuke facilities, which Iran has done.

It is worth remembering, Joe, that Iran, under the Shah, was an ally of Israel against their mutual enemy, Iraq. And, prior to the brutal dictatorship of the Shah, Iran had a democratically elected leader named Mossadegh. Go back to Israel Joe, you ilk are not wanted here anymore.

Thanks for alienating many Jewish voters with your little rant, including myself -- and I am one of those who is highly critical of Israel's actions. I will still vote for Obama, but absolutely, keep it up, you are doing the republicans a big, big favor. Just remember, a majority of Jews will vote for Obama, despite latent and blatant anti-semitism. Its just that the Christian Right is much worse. Sad, very sad for me.

Good Lord.

And what exactly are Still President Bush and Current Senator Leiberman doing to prevent this "known" oncoming attack?

Oh, we can't know that because it's "a matter of national security?"

Well, then how do we know there actually IS a threat?

Oh, that's "a matter of national security" too? Well isn't that convenient.

So, we are entirely reliant on Bush "informing" us of the threats facing us? And he (and McCain) are the only ones who can secretly save use from these unknown threats, but we can't know how or when or who were involved? So if nothing happens, then that means they did their job right?

Yeah, well I save the world from brain eating aliens all the time too, but you don't hear me harping on and on about it. What? You want me to prove it? Well, have you had your brain sucked out through your nose by a super scary alien lately? I didn't think so. BooYA!
