In a new Rasmussen poll, McCain only leads by nine points in his home state. He trails Obama by six points with women.

A Cronkite/Eight poll last week found McCain was only ahead ten points in Arizona, with 34% of the electorate still undecided.

A few weeks ago McCain himself suggested that he could lose Arizona, calling his home a "swing state" even though it voted Republican in every presidential election but one since 1952.

I live in AZ and McBush just might lose this state if it's upto me and the hundreds of us that have been meeting and registering people. Janet Napolitano is loved and she's a great Obama surrogate...
Don't be shocked if this state turns blue come Novemeber. Obama really should start running ads here.

McCain could NEVER hope to win Illinois. This is music to my ears. He might win it in the end but just seeing him put money into the state is a win.

Just know, ANYONE WHO WANTS AND VOTES FOR McCain, as President it will be his job to start WORLD WAR 3, you mark my words. If your young, male/female, have kids or grandkids, THEY WILL BE DRAFTED.
He has said what was good enough for him is good enough for the American people. Much luck to anyone who supports him, you will be sorry, he is the ultimate war monger. If you liked Bush, you're gonna love McCain!

Az folks have known John McCain before he was a virgin! We remember McCain 1.0 when he and Charlie Keating were thick as thieves. Then McCain 2.0 became the maverick and campaign financing reformer, with little exceptions like using your wife's private jet. Now comes John McCain 3.0 and his new buddies, Don Diamond and Rick Renzi. Diamond, a developer and campaign big fish gets several very lucrative federal land swaps (see AZ Republic website) and campaign Captain and Congressman Renzi gets indicted for similar dealings. Schemer extrordinaire.

McCain is starting to go down in AZ because the people there know him better than anyone!

My father is a retired colonel in the USAF (25 years of service and a Vietnam vet), and his sentiment is "be afraid...be VERY afraid" of a President McCain.

What a shock! I had thought that the people of Arizona were all backward dummies, that they
would keep putting into office - - - a guy who was the 4th from the bottom of his class of 899. I mean
this guy must be terribly, terribly DUMB. I would not want him to represent me at a bake sale.

Heelarious! When I heard about McCain's class ranking - I cracked up something terrible. He oozes dumbness. Every time the man speaks, I cannot take him seriously. I know, I KNOW! He was a POW. But come on! Either POWs escape or they die (trying to escape). Not sit up there in a club fed type setting, years just slipping by. Every thing he says is an ignorant flip or flop. The fact that people actually took him seriously enough to vote him into office is the biggest joke of all. If this is how he campaigned in the past, I question the judgement of those Arizonians voting for him. I know he is definitely my elder by a more than a few decades (LOL), but I just cannot feel confident in the man's ability to run this country. I am not surprised that he is steadfastly losing where he should be winning. It is about damn time.

McCain loosing his home state, I think not. And a 9 point lead is a significant lead . However, I can see the retirees in Arizona throwing McCain under a bus, considering what he's be saying about privatizing medicare.

I agree with you that a nine point lead is nothing to squawk about but when it is a falling nine point lead, four months into the General Election, YES THIS IS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT. McCAIN IS LOSING GROUND IN HIS H0ME STATE! ......HELLO.....WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

Everyone that I know from Arizona, to a person, says that they can't stand McSame and will not vote for him for Senate, let alone President. And half of these friends are Republican.

I live in the Phoenix area, home of John McCain. Some interesting things are going on here. First, Arizonan republicans revered Barry Goldwater (still do). Goldwater's family members support Obama, saying that although McCain likes to compare himself to Goldwater, in reality he bears no resemblance to Goldwater at all and that Barry Goldwater himself would not like Bush and his yes-man sycophant, John McCain. Secondly, there have been two different recall positions circulating here to attempt to recall McCain from the senate. Thirdly, recently it has been widely reported in Phoenix's newspaper The Arizona Republic that McCain for many years has done nothing at all for Arizona because he's too busy promoting himself rather than the state. We see him as a guy so consumed with winning the presidency that all else be danged. The Arizona Republic is a conservative-leaning newspaper and that makes their stance interesting. Like elsewhere, Republicans here are dissatisfied with the current status of the Republican party, its immoral war and McCain's seemingly blind obsession. Lastly, Arizona's vast hispanic population is becoming more politically savvy and active in recent years. Like many of the other western states, Arizona's political dynamics are shifting and that doesn't bode well for McCain, even in his home state. Many people here, like people elsewhere in the country, see McCain as a relic from a past we'd rather forget.

Romney is not popular with Hispanics. He wants to ship them all back. Secondly, Romney isn't that popular with the conservatives. His pro choice. But he does have strong qualifications like the economy.

His okay. But him or anyone in the republican party won't be able to unseat Obama come november.

how sad that the crazy old man is only up a few points in his home state... what does that say about him if he can't even hold his own state? aren't there a lot of veterans in Arizona, since the old man didn't feel the need to support the newly passed GI bill, maybe those chickens are coming home to roost and why wouldn't they given the old man's position on veterans...
