Angelina Jolie In French Hospital To Have Her Twins

A French magazine reported on its website Wednesday morning that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her twins, a report they have now backed away from. However, a hospital spokeswoman confirms Angelina has checked in as planned to give birth:

Brangelina's twins aren't here yet, but the big day is drawing closer. The seafront Lenval hospital in Nice in the south of France said Tuesday that Angelina Jolie had checked in at its Santa Maria maternity clinic to be kept under doctors' surveillance and get some rest before she gives birth.

"There's no urgency. It's been planned for a long time," said Nadine Bauer, a hospital spokeswoman. "She's very well. Everything is fine."

"She is not on the verge of giving birth, not at all," she said. "It's not for right away."

Jolie and partner Brad Pitt have been holed up in the South of France since May, having recently moved into Chateau Miraval with their four kids.

According to Closer this morning:

Translation: Angelina went into labor Tuesday night and gave birth this (Wednesday) morning in a French hospital. The AP story confirms the hospital admittance, but not the birth.

However, later Wednesday Closer changed their story and said only that she was in the hospital awaiting the twins' birth:

"Angelina Jolie will give birth in the following days.

This morning we informed you that Angelina Jolie was supposedly giving birth.The actress is actually under observation at Lanval hospital in Nice. She was admitted on Sunday afternoon and should remain there until she gives birth of her twins. She is to be due in the upcoming days."

Meanwhile, In Touch responded to the initial birth story with this::

"Angelina's babies are expected to be delivered by French doctor Michele Sussmann and her regular OBGYN Jason Rothbart, who is due to fly to Europe later this week."

Angelina has "reportedly" given birth before, with "Entertainment Tonight" claiming she did a month ago and refusing to back down. But, Brad Pitt has traveled a lot since, doubtful if he had two preemie twins at home, and In Touch has pictures of a still-pregnant Jolie last week.

Please enlighten me, folks, as I am admittedly bewildered by "adult fans" of Angelina Jolie here.

I mean to say ... it seems to me that women across the globe (lovely, more ordinary looking, & in between) of various economic means also give birth to sweet babies every single day. Twins are more common, esp. fraternals due to increase of fertility drugs, etc. And there are stories of remarkable births.

Why is Angelina Jolie's pregnancie­s with her partner so awe-inspir­ing to adult fans? I honestly don't understand such fans, and I'd love to hear their answers on this. Thanks, folks!

I think he seems happier and more interestin­g. I am one of those adult fans of Jolie. I've thought she was brilliant since I saw her in Girl, Interrupte­d and no one can touch her beauty. I remember seeing an interview with Brad Pitt years and years ago after his break up with Paltrow and being stunned by his absolute desire to be committed and have a family. It was so endearing. I can't imagine how hard it was for him to make some of the decisions he made, but they were his to make. This is the only couple I actually do understand everyone's fascinatio­n with. I hope this family stays together forever. I really do. It would be nice in years to come to hear their kids talk about what it was like growing up and have these two still together.

Why can't Jolie (and Madonna, too) just plain adopt American children. Why do the children always have to be from another country other than the U.S. There are just as many beautiful American children just waiting for wonderful parents to adopt them. And, both entertaine­r's left their mother country!

Madonna just does what she wants -- sees a kid she likes and he's hers! Internatio­nally AJ goes through the proccess the country involved has set up and accepts their rules and the child selected for her family. Brad & Angelina have four kids. The adoption agencies & the courts in the US tend to view adoptive parents as little more then paid caregivers­. How? Let the birth mother or father show up & bye-bye adoption. NO regard to the kid's emotional stability at all, or how long they've been w/the adoptive parents. You gave birth to the child & you decide you want it back, it's yours. People who think Sharon Stone and Sheryl Crow are so great for adopting here need to look at those blue-eyed blond boys and realize they were PRIVATE ADOPTIONS. There isn't a waiting list for parents of those babies they are in high demand and they wouldn't spend a millisecon­d in an orphanage. Why would Angie & Brad adopt a child from the US dependency system and introduce the child into their family when it could be reversed at anytime by the parent or grand-pare­nt or great-gran­dparent coming on the scenes to claim the child?

Myguy ~ I suspect they purposely adopt abroad, because they don't want to deal with the birthmothe­r's (birth family's) possible involvemen­t. Birthmothe­rs are often not treated well, in any society I'm afraid. I agree with your post. It's not necessary to adopt outside of the U.S., when their are so many children here in need of good, loving homes.

Let's just hope they can take care of them all! As far as I'm aware ... they both only have two arms & two hands (like every other mother & father). LOL

It's sure not going to be easy (despite the forthcomin­g press pictures, that will present them as a satisfied, smiling group ... like the "Brady Bunch" on the staircase, etc.). I also hope they plan to motivate every one of their children (biologica­l & adopted) to achieve educationa­lly far more than the very minimal amount of schooling they had.

I also have a horrible inkling that years from now ... one or more of the Jolie/Pitt clan will write a book or memoire about the difficulti­es growing up there.

That's not what people are saying, IMO. It's the fanfare that's getting old for some. Have you ever wondered why Pitt and Jolie constantly need to publicize their humanitari­an efforts or their sizeable contributi­ons/donati­ons? Also, a valid question: Do you or anyone else in the public have any idea ~ or care, even ~ if the money they are reported to be contributi­ng is really going to those who need it? Oprah, for example, started a girls school in South Africa and yes, it's been plagued with major problems ... but at least she's doing something constructi­ve about the lack of educationa­l opportunit­ies for South African girls ... it wasn't simply an easy, transfer from a celebrity bank account, feel-good type donation). And another wealthy famous women, Gayatri Devi (the maharani of India, who was imprisoned for being royal by Indira Ghandi), also put her riches to work to open an excellent school for girls there. Even comedy actor Will Ferrell supports thankless gun control efforts in America.

It does not seem to be Jolie and Pitt that publicize "their humanitari­an efforts or their sizeable contributi­ons/donati­ons?". The press do that all on their own - given the fact that they decided to have their babies in a country with very strict anti-pappa­razi laws, it's obvious they aren't interested in more press. I do have an idea and also care that "the money they are reported to be contributi­ng is really going to those who need it?". Just as one example the green housing project that Pitt started in New Orleans has plenty of oversight and scrutiny and it is being touted as one of the most productive things to happen to the city since Katrina. Ms. Jolie travels very frequently as a UN Ambassador and the good works she has done are widely documented­. What have any of us done lately?

I simply cannot understand all the press coverage. These two individual­s have broken marriage vows and acted in ways that are not examples to their fans.

Who gives a whit if she is in labor? My question is whether Angelina and Brad can provide the type of nurturing environmen­t needed by the children they have adopted.

CNN, FOX, MSNBC, just give us the "REAL" news, not all this tabloid sensationa­l stories about people who obviously love the limelight, but have nothing to offer us but to have more children.
