Daily Kos:

So many of you are upset that I pulled back my credit card last night, making a last minute decision to hold back on a $2,300 contribution to Obama. Let me explain further:

First of all, obviously Obama is a great candidate who is running a great 50-state race. That much cannot be denied. But he's had a rough couple of weeks.

. . .

Obama will be fine without my contribution, and he may even still get it before this thing is said and done, but it would be at a time when he has done something positive. That's called rewarding good behavior. And if that opportunity fails to arise because Obama goes on a Sister Souljah'ing rampage, then no worries. Chances are good that the DNC would get the money instead. But at this time, I simply have no desire to reward bad behavior.

I'm not giving the guy a dime or a minute of my time if he doesn't come out against this FISA bill and stop this Faith Based Iniative nonsense.

The FISA bill has more negatives than just T-Com immunity, it allows for the wiretapping/surveillance of overseas communications by American citizens without a warrant or probable cause. The only oversight is by the Inspector General who is an administration appointee and employee, hardly independent.

Why should churches get a huge fund set aside for them exclusively when thousands of secular non-profits who perform many philantrhopic services have to beg from a dwindling pot? That's completely unconstitutional! You're giving preference to religious organizations over secular! Just make the pot for ALL non-profits larger and let them compete based on the merit of their cause! That way you don't have to watchdog churches for discrimination. You don't get the money if you discriminate in hiring and that's that.

Obama is skating on thin ice, he's going to lose a good chunk of his base while trying to squeeze a few votes from the right wing stone. I'll still vote for him over McCain but I won't do anything else.

You speak like someone who is seriously misinformed and only reads headlines. Stay home- don't vote - don't give - you will not be counted - AGAIN

That is it for me, I refuse to go to the Daily Kos anymore or to any other site that plays out this childish game. This is ridiculous. They are unhappy about an issue or two because Obama did not do everything they thought he should? Now some fool wants to withhold his campaign donation on the basis that, "bad behavior should not be rewarded"? What are they, 12 or suffering from some kind of narcistic delusion?
Did we need further proof that it is all about them; their ego and their beliefs with no room for anyone else or an alternative? No room for common sense nor appreciation for the facts on the ground? How about the reality, that in a National campaign Obama must reach out & must make rational compromises because Democrats & these self styled progressives cannot put a Democrat into the White House without independents & republican cross-overs? Sadly, this self obsessed disconnect from reality conveniently dismisses the last 7 years while they try to make Obama a slave to their egos.
Get over it. You know where you can put that money! I will find 3 to replace you!

wow like anyone is going to care about the daily kos little contribution over FISA. If they were going to be one issue voters and that issue being FISA then they should have been voting for ralph nader because Obamas record has been consistent on FISA and they need to get over. This is the reason why i remain an independent because the democrats always mess it up.

"That's called rewarding good behavior."

Maybe Obama is not a toddler or a puppy, but he must obey the mighty kos. Mr. Zuniga runs the risk of making himself into a joke.

Obama was not my first choice in the primaries, so I did not vote for him. The same goes for HRC. I did become an Obama supporter after John Edwards dropped out and I started to send him small donations. Yesterday, against my better judgement I sent him more money to beat the June 30 deadline and to get a teeshirt. I don't regret that decision, however, that's the last money I'm going to send him plus I can always rip up the shirt for cleaning rags. Yes, I'll vote for him, however, I'll now start financially supporting individual congressional candidates who need it so that it doesn't really matter who is POTUS. The more progressives we can elect to office the faster and the better we can effect real change.

Kos, meet the NRA, the Moral Majority and the Right to Life.

You are a great bunch of folks who spend their time thinking that what you believe is more important than the greater good of your fellow Americans.

Have a nice time!

Kos, why does the picture accompanying this post look as if Sen. O is saying, "And...?" I mean, where's the love, man, after all you and your site did for him in the primary? Life's a bitch and then you're thrown under the bus, huh?

I will be weaning myself off of DKos. I used to enjoy it but they are starting to sound like Hillary Clinton supporters- the rabid ones- who threaten to pull votes and money. They had me paranoid for a time because I was convinced that many of his supporters are like DKos and would cause his numbers to drop. But then I logged off the computer, went into the world and realize that no one gives a darn or know who these people are. To be fair though, there are some people on Dkos who are a breath of fresh air.

I LOVE A GOOD DEM FIGHT!

How refreshing to not have everyone bow, like the Republicans do and have to Bushie,

and cough up their bucks and votes when they question or disagree with a candidate.

Yes, Obama will win!

Sometimes we will be happy with his policies and sometime not so happy.

And he will hear from us!

Sound like Kos thinks of Obama as a dog that has been disobediant.

Seems to me that question such people ought to be asking themselves is, "Do I want a President McCain, or a President Obama, and how important is one over the other to me?"...not, "Did the candidate behave exactly as I want them to, and if not, should I punish him, thereby rewarding the other candidate".

Money is the only language any politician knows these days.
I understand kos. It is our only power to make a politician listen.
Withhold your check if a politician caves on telecom immunity, or any issue that is dear to you, and TELL them why your doing it.

Agree. And Obama is just that...just another politician. That being said, no matter who wins, they will most likely have to deal with a dem majority in both the senate and the house. If the dems are unified in their positions well then, it just won't matter who is sitting in the big chair.

Exactly, $ is the only language politicians care about and will listen to. I applaud Kos withholding a donation - I did the same this month.

For the antidote to Kos, you owe it to yourself to read the following post by Al Giordano at The Field. Read it and think hard before you post another petulant whine about how O has betrayed you and you're taking your toys and leaving:

Thanks very much for posting that link. A very articulate stating of why Obama is indeed different and with a decided practical point of view:

"My duty to the causes I care about is not to cry that we've been victimized, or that "the sky is falling," or to play armchair quarterback shouting from the bleachers at the captain on the field that he must make his next play a run or a pass. Nor is it to yell, "I'm taking my money and support and game board and going home." It is, rather, to inform and organize greater public opinion to grow to see the issue as I see it, so that whenever he may take office, he will have to deal with the reality that we have created with or without him."

This is not the time to pull support from the best candidate dems have had in decades. Kos should know better. Obama isn't always going to do things to make the dems happy. He has to win this race as he and his campaign sees fit. If Kos wants McCain to be the next president and continue 4 more years of Bush's disastrous policy then he should keep his money and support. Because in politics money means support. It means keeping faith with your candidate. Many dems are not seeing the bigger picture here. Which is that we must make sure that the next president who takes the oath of office in Jan 2009 is a democrat. We as dems need to stand with Obama. He will not always make the decision we would like him to make. But if we want to restore the Constitution and protect it we must stand with him. Otherwise if more influential people like Kos pull their support from Obama, he will ensure a McCain presidency.

Good. Kos runs a trashy outfit that offers nothing positive for Obama anyway - so good riddance -- go vote for McCain, Markos -- who cares?
