I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Sebelius

Yesterday, Obama gave the Kansas governor high praise on a Missouri Fox affiliate, going so far as to hint that she could be his vice presidential nominee:

I love Kathleen Sebelius. I think she is as talented a public official as there is right now. Integrity. Competence. She can work with all people of all walks of life, but I promised that I am not going to say anything about my vice president until I actually introduce my vice president.

The Huffington Post's Sam Stein profiled Sebelius in June and concluded that she "presents a heap of electoral promise but with small but significant question marks."

Read The Huffington Post's rundown of potential Obama VP candidates here.

He didn't hint for her as VP, and she's not gonna be picked. It's really obvious.

I like Sebelius a lot, but I don't think Obama will pick her either. My reasons: She would probably not even deliver KS, Obama has a tremendous hill to climb trying to be the first black Pres without trying to make more history by having a woman on the ticket, and she does not help him on the Foreign Affairs/Terrorism issue.

Sorry, I don't play to "crystal ball" parlor tricks. I use my mind's Eye.

U.S. Rep. JANE HARMAN (D-Venice) covers all the bases for Sen. Obama: woman, national security expert, Jewish, extremely articulate, decent state-wide (and national) name ID and a beautiful (and very rich) family. The $10Million line/ad that destroyed her ’98 gubernatorial (“Best Republican in the Democratic Party”) would only help Sen. Obama….GO WITH JANE!

Unfortunately, O must pick a man for a running mate. His pick cannot be a woman or an African American. Shameful, but true. If we think for one minute O doesn't know this we're crazy. I'll take Clark or Webb. Thank goodness we have a nice bunch to choose from.

Someone with as strong a record, as say Ulysses S. Grant?

Clark: OK. Webb: No thanks.

Richardson, on the other hand, yes please. =)

Or the real dream ticket Obama/Gore.

No. If its a woman it has to be Clinton (but we all know her finances can't be vetted).

Clark is still my #1. But if not Clark, then a man from a state we need--and someone who can attract MALE voters, especially blue collar and cross-over Dems.

America is still a pretty conservative place. We will LOSE with Sibelius, nice and competent though she is.

The way I see it Obama will choose either a military man or Hillary Clinton, and I don't think he'll pick the latter. Wait a minute, what about a military woman? Wasn't the first woman 4-star general just named?

I would call it a trial baloon more than a hint. Or possibly even a red herring.

But if the Hillary supporters are going to be 'If it is going to be a woman it has to be Hillary' all they are doing is making it certain that it won't be a woman.

so I heard "someone" send a message to 0bama yesterday
something about a move to the right or center is a loser move

well, IMO, a progressive website's move to sensationalized MSM style is a loser move

just a thought

Yeah, I don't know why that "someone" would have written such a memo, but I heard that "someone" defend that same middle move on 7 days. I highly respect "someone" but honestly disagree with "someone's" analysis.

I really don't know enough about her to form an opinion, but it would take Obama picking Dick Cheney as his VP right now to get me to vote against him at this point. I think people are going to vote for the top of the ticket when it comes to Obama, and that McCain's pick for his VP will matter more to his voters because of his age.

Sebellius would be great and a shoe-in if Hillary and her supporters do not attempt to undermine a Sebellius VP pick. Those supporters need to understand that Hillary crossed a few lines in the primary, and u can't go back and un-do that stuff. If Hillary was on the ticket it would be too easy for McCain to use her own words against the Dem ticket. Hillary also hurts Obama in some of the new states Obama is targetting, places like Virginia, Iowa and Colorado. Sebellius makes more sense to Obama's core message of change, and fresh new faces in Washington DC. Sebellius is the best pick for Obama as of right now, although I'd like to see her more on the national stage to see how tough of a campaigner she is. I'm speaking purely as someone who has only read stories about her, and seen news clips - but it would be good to see what kind of campaigner she is. If she's great I think it would be hard for HRC supporters to deny her and Obama the VP possibilities.
