A Georgia 16-year old, the star of a hard-to-watch YouTube video in which he catapults an 8-month-old baby off of a pillow, has been arrested for cruelty to children. The boy was apprehended after one of his school teachers saw the video and informed police. The child, who was in the care of the boy's family at the time, was taken to the doctor by its parents and there is no word yet if there were serious injuries.

Whoever posted this, you're not helping when you refer to this teenage idiot as the "star"of the video! Shame on you! That's the status they think they get by posting criminal behaviors on YouTube, and you just confirmed it for them.

lol. settle down, ethel. the kid's going to jail.

Only because his teacher happened to see it. I also think it is not a good idea to call this guy the "star" of anything.

This is what kids think is funny. I play the game World Of Warcraft and I heard a guy say "I drop kicked a baby into a cactus". The imagery was kinda funny because it's so ridiculous but then I see this video and see how this kind of humor could be carried out by some impressionable idiot. This is so sad and I hope that guy who did that to this infant get severely punished to the maximum extent. This video is so shocking what the hell did that boys parents teach him that he would do something like this. Rage against that boy.

I'd bet my paycheck that the kid in the video is abused...he's not warped for no reason.

Agreed. It looks quite sociopathic to me. When you have no conscience, cruelty comes naturally. How do you end up without a conscience? Severe childhood trauma usually.

No, the kid is probably spoiled which one could consider abuse, but I doubt that's what you mean.

Abuse of children is different from "survival of the fittest". A population that kills its babies will not survive.

Agreed, but lets keep giving back children to drug addicted parents with histories of abuse because that's a much less offensive matter.

two words: mandatory sterilization.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:26 AM on 07/03/2008

Aside from the constitutionality of it, maybe we should temporarily sterilize everyone at puberty and make then apply for a license to have a child. Hairdressers, manicurists, business owners, and contractors have to be licensed and they aren't raising someone else to end up like this kid.

Wow, what sadism.
Not only did toturing a helpless baby pleasure them, they were proud of it.
They really thought it funny, until they got caught.
They will get theirs. let them laugh about that.

Author Dr. George Bartzokis, a professor of neurology at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine, concludes that the high incidence of impulsive behaviors that characterize the teen years as well as many psychiatric disorders that occur in the teens and 20s are related to incomplete myelination of inhibitory "stop" brain circuits, while the "go" circuits become fully functional earlier in development. These inhibitory circuits are not on line to quickly interrupt high-risk behaviors that are so prevalent in teens and young adults.

how about darn right bad behavior, cruel behavior, horrible behavior.
How about human behavior in reference to helpless babies, animals, evat.

Yeah, I mean, if he's doing this to a helpless baby human, what do you think he's probably been doing to the animals in the neighborhood? There's definitely something wrong with him. Total lack of regard for the life of a human being. Not only was there a fireplace nearby, there was a 12-pack of soda just a foot or so from where the baby landed. The simple fact is that the baby could be dead right now and he's very lucky that didn't happen.

To write this off as just normal, impulsive teenage behavior is to do that kid a disservice. He needs to be made to understand how fragile and precious life is --- especially the life of a tiny infant. The judge needs to order some therapy and perhaps he needs some education about babies too. The consequences MUST be grave. Jail won't correct whatever's wrong in this kid's head, but punishment is definitely in order.

As for calling people who are outraged by this self-righteous? Please. Yes, we all did dumb stuff when we were kids, but I can honestly say I never hurled an 8-month-old baby across a room. Probably the worst thing I ever did (when I was about 11) was stab another kid in the leg with a knitting needle for harassing me until I couldn't take it anymore. And yes, I was punished severely for it. And I never did anything like that again.

It's an explanation, not an excuse. There's a huge difference. As a father of a teenage boy, and a former teenage boy myself, it actually explains a lot.

so pathetic how every evil act has an excuse with those idiot doctors..cant the doctor just say,the boy is simply evil, and nothing to do with chemicals, but all due to the way he was raised.

No excuse for you being ignorant though. Its hard to let go of old ideas, but try. Do a bit of reading. Educate yourself. I know you want to blame someone for this thoughtless act by a stranger on a stranger. I'm sure it makes you feel good to think yourself morally superior and indignant. I'm sure you never did anything stupid or dangerous when you were a teenager. Doctors are to blame for stealing away your opportunity to self righteous anger, and damed if you're gonna let them.

Do you know actually know the boy is evil? What do you know about him other than the short clip you saw posted above?

It's not chemicals, it's myelin.

The production of myelin is a key component of brain development through childhood and well into middle age, when development peaks and deterioration begins.

Do you get pissed off at the old folks for developing Alzheimer's too? That's also because of a lack of myelin.

I'd be a little worried about a doctor whose diagnosis was evil spirits, personally. I actually prefer it when they fall back on those old saws like chemical imbalances and other physiological explanations.

And how come nobody can tell the difference between an explanation and an excuse anymore?

Bull. This is not just the fault of Republicans. This is what happens when we have movies, jokes, and TV shows and the like that give validate this behavior in jest. People say things like, "It's just a joke, don't be so serious!" Well, the slope is slippery and this is the end result: Teens that think it's funny to bounce a baby off a pillow.
