Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has always resented the fact that peers made more money than him with what he deemed to be inferior films. These days, he's obviously overcome this problem by milking reality shows for millions to prop up his more artsy products; but he couldn't always be so sanguine. Here we have a priceless and EXCLUSIVE classic from the archives: a recording of a phone call between Weinstein and Disney exec Joe Roth, taped shortly after Michael Ovitz--a spectacular failure as head of Disney--was paid more than $100 million to leave the company in 1996. Weinstein is galled beyond belief (and perhaps a bit envious). "Let's quit today!" he jokes. Why, he works his ass off and what does he get? A fucking lecture. "Joe, you're a success, so therefore you're a failure in this business," Weinstein complains. Then he insults his fellow moguls: "Between Peter Guber and Mike Ovitz and everybody who fucked up...Everybody got wealthy on failure."

I didn't know Harvey had a good sense of humor, but he was great on this call.

I have truly disliked Harvey ever since he pimped his "Shakespear in Love" so unethically and stole the deserved Oscar from "Saving Private Ryan"! "Ryan" is a true classic and cinamatic achievment, when was the last time anyone ran "Shakespear" on TV or anyone even talk about it or reference it...except in the context of it win over "Ryan"?

I don't know or care who Harvey is but your priorities are completely messed up if you are stressing over whether Ryan or Shakespeare deserved an Oscar. Both were fairly mediocre movies. Ryan had great special effects and it was nice to see a movie with tanks and armored vehicles that actually looked like what the Germans and Americans used in the war but the plot was nonsense and the acting made me barf. Tom Hanks? Ugh! Anyway who cares which picture wins the Oscar. Its very rare when a good movie wins for best picture let alone the best movie.

Got that right. Case in point, Titanic. Technically good, but basically an overblown three hour soaper of rich girl likes poor boy, and her family disapproves. Never heard that one before. I think Tom Hanks is decent, but he is definitely not a "great" actor.

So what did he say that wasn't true?
