Rove Refuses To Testify On U.S. Attorney Scandal

Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee received a letter from Karl Rove's attorney Robert Luskin, stating that his client refuses to testify before a House subcommittee, despite a congressional subpoena. He reiterated his offer to have Rove appear for an off-the-record interview, not under oath, about the prosecution of formerly Alabama governor Don Siegelman only. In a response to Luskin, Reps. John Conyers (D-MI) and Linda Sanchez (D-CA) reject the offer:

We want to make clear that the Subcommittee will convene as scheduled and expects Mr. Rove to appear, and that a refusal to appear in violation of the subpoena could subject Mr. Rove to contempt proceedings, including statutory contempt under federal law and proceedings under the inherent contempt authority of the House of Representatives.

Rove refuses and the House isn't going to do a damn thing. It's embarrassing and sicking how weak they actually are.

Part of me wish they'd just do away with that whole aspect of the government and set something else up. Perhaps just keep the state governments at least the same and just have the governors meet with the senate and the president.

Because it isn't July 10th yet. That's the date on the subpoena. If he doesn't show, they better pick his arse up and jail him.

The Republicans seem intent on proving that the Constitution is a useless piece of paper. The Democrats seem intent on supporting that contention. We can get upset all we want at the criminality of the Bush administration, but if the Congress refuses to make them suffer the consequences, then they are proving the GOP right. Beyond sickening. It's completely depressing.

I, for one, am keeping track of the way my Senators and my Representative vote on all these issues, FISA, this subpoena, etc. and I will do whatever I can to make sure they aren't or are elected, depending on their vote and I have let them all know this as well.

Rove and this administration has been giving Congress the finger for years now. When are they going to grow some cajones? I am beginning to wonder why we even have a Congress.

My Representative in the House is on the Judiciary Committee, and I just emailed and called him and told him that this cr*p has to cease. Bring the criminals to account for their crimes.

Linda Sanchez was on Dan Abrams show, no more than a week or two ago, and basically said that the Dems will not act on contempt charges untill they here from "the people" that they are fired up and want action. Please was not your victory in 06 enough? The calls and letters to your offices not enoug?

Stop posturing and do something.
