Think Progress:

Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee received a letter from Karl Rove's attorney Robert Luskin, stating that his client refuses to testify before a House subcommittee, despite a congressional subpoena. He reiterated his offer to have Rove appear for an off-the-record interview, not under oath, about the prosecution of formerly Alabama governor Don Siegelman only. In a response to Luskin, Reps. John Conyers (D-MI) and Linda Sanchez (D-CA) reject the offer:

We want to make clear that the Subcommittee will convene as scheduled and expects Mr. Rove to appear, and that a refusal to appear in violation of the subpoena could subject Mr. Rove to contempt proceedings, including statutory contempt under federal law and proceedings under the inherent contempt authority of the House of Representatives.

I will believe there is a God if and when Rove testifies under oath.

And this is something new?

We ALL know that Bush will issue pardons to everyone in the White House (except maybe himself), so Rove doesn't feel the 'need' to waste his time Testifying.

I really wish they would make an example of him and issue a contempt proceeding and throw him in the jail in the Capitol's basement.

Other than doing this, no one in Congress will say much--they'll just go on to the next issue at hand.

NickNas:

Trust me, Nick I AM MAD about this, but I don't have any power to make this Congress do something about it. I wish I did. I've signed Hundreds of petitions over the years for environmental, animal and especially human interests. Some of these petitions did good--some did not.

The problem is, is that those dorks that voted Bush into office have given him the power to do whatever he wants. We all saw where this administration was heading in 2004, but we could not push him out of office. It's the fault of they that voted for Bush; and they will have to answer for this, either here or in another kind of court on Judgment Day, but until then we ALL have to live with these 'monsters' in power in the White House...

The only way the WH can issue a pardon is the person being pardoned has to reveal what it is they are being pardoned for and GW can't pardon himself, so I would say pardons are off the table unless GW is willing to take the fall for all the crimes he has committed.

Chillinout:

I bet Bush will change the rules and say that he can now issue pardons for all in his administration because when they were subpoenaed, Bush was president, so since he was president, they were all under 'executive priviledge' and so they won't have to testify to anything, since they 'can't reveal anything while under 'executive priviledge'. So, in Bush's twisted logic, they can get a Pardon without revealing anything. His Pardon would state that future presidents can't come back and subpoena any of his administration. They'll take the 'Pardon' out of their pocket and say "See, I've already been pardoned, but I don't have to say why. It's 'executive priviledge' under Bush." Leave it to Bush to try this, and Congress and the Supremes to go along with it.

I love how "some" criminals have an option to turn in information and cooperate w/police or not.

Guess being BFF's with the President does pay off for "some" people.

Must be nice!
