On his radio show Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh commented on the news of his astronomical new contract estimated at $400 million. Limbaugh told his audience, "I'm not retiring until every American agrees with me." The deal pays Limbaugh to keep dishing his views through 2016.

The New York Times
has more on how Limbaugh's windfall stacks up against other conservative hosts.

Mr. Limbaugh is not the only radio star who is busy pumping his franchise. Sean Hannity, the country's No. 2 host according to Talkers Magazine, is in contract talks with his current syndication company, ABC Radio, as well as Premiere, for a potential three-way deal, according to two sources close to the negotiations. They requested anonymity because the deal had not been signed.

Glenn Beck, another popular host, signed a new contract with Premiere last year that will pay him $10 million a year through 2012.

Mr. Hannity and Mr. Beck each appear on radio while hosting television shows, writing books and staging nationwide tours. Other media personalities, including Oprah Winfrey and Mr. Seacrest, also have radio engagements that feed into their cross-platform brands. But Mr. Limbaugh sticks to his self-proclaimed "golden E.I.B. microphone" -- E.I.B., for excellence in broadcasting -- and his associated Web site.

Yeah right Mr. Coward. Like all the neocons, you talk a BIG game, but never had the guts to play or FIGHT in it. It's too bad oxycontin couldn't cure the cyst you had on your behind that got you out of fighting in Nam.

rush,

the computer doppler is showing
that you have no soul,
and that no matter how much money
you have, you will always be
in the wrong place,
at the wrong time,
doing the wrong thing.

in essence, you are a damned soul.
enjoy your millions!

for the busboy, that picks up after you, has more of a life than you.

The reason that Rush has such a huge following is because he speaks common sense. Is that why the left hates him so much?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:47 PM on 07/03/2008

I must have missed that day. Please let me know whenever you hear Rush speaking common sense in the future. Now that would be something to see!

The man couldn't speak the "truth" if it came up to him and slapped him upside the head, the fool. I've never heard such a bunch of bullony in my life. Common sense? Since when has spewing his brand of anti-Americanism "sense"? To call for subverting the due process of elections as noted in his "operation chaos" is, to me, nothing less that anti-American terrorism.

Are you serious? I honestly don't believe that Limbaugh himself believes that nonsense he talks. Then again he was drug addicted to pain pills maybe he does believe it. He should have paid attention to the public service announcements showing what happens to your brain on drugs.

Common is a good word for him. Not one original thought or evidence of critical thinking.
Yes, common is a good word for him and his sheep followers.

apparently you are a proponent of the "majority is right" philosophy. That of course means in a global world that the Chinese are right. No one denies that Rush is popular, that hardly makes him right or good. You must admit that, since you continue to support the least popular president in history.

Here is the right-wing spokesperson: Obese, smoker, drug addict, multiple marriages and divorces, spewing hate speech from his well-guarded mansion from which he rarely exits, probably because of the extreme paranoia resulting from the years of drug use. Match him with Bill Bennett, another man with an obvious food addiction and what most would call a gambling addiction (if you lose over $1.0 million, can't we agree that's an addiction). Both leaders of the right-wing. Hateful, addicted, terrified, anti-social, bullying, belligerant, ultimately cowardly and hiding in their homes stuffing their faces wondering when they will be caught.

Yet I know educated, intelligent, well-off people who think both men are very bright, deserve to be leaders.

So once again we have this question: why is it that so many people blindly follow men who promote hate and war, promote cruelty and laugh at suffering? Is it that these men remind too many people of their own fathers? Do we have that many fathers in this country who were so cruel and violent in their family that the children's brains are permanently twisted to think cruel and violent men should be the leaders? Can we only respect men who could be a stand-in for Ted Bundy? Eager to kill?

It's because America has become a cruel and violent country in the last 40 years, so these kinds of men are highly regarded by those who want to export death and destruction on the rest of the world.

America has truly degraded itself by the likes of Rush Limpdick and Sean Hannity

We have always been a cruel and violent country.

Read "The People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn, if you'd like 1200 pages of evidence supporting this premise.

And we were better off before? You know, when we were arresting poets for obscenity and dissention, spraying black kids with hoses for trying to attend school, keeing our women pregnant, homebound, and silent; when the only good Indian was a dead Indian?

Not that I'm saying our military industrial complex hasn't created a crueler America in SOME aspects, but its ridiculous to think that prior to 40 years ago life here was some magical cruelty free utopia.

Rush gathers people like you gather a mob. Stir up enough hate and fear and people will follow anyone. The problem is the advertisers. I will never eat at Ruths Chris simply because they support his show. If they show that lack of common sense, how can I trust them to prepair my food? I have noticed that all the get rich quick, latest miracle diet pill, investment scam artists flock to these shows for thier perfect target market. Slow, Stupid and gullable enough to buy anything. My favorite has to be Rush selling hybrid cars though. How on earth do his fans not see through that one? it goes against everything he preaches, yet they don't think enough to question him.

I think a lot of people in America are still stuck in an antiquated mind set. In their heads its still the Wild West, where only the strong survive and you can't count on anyone but yourself. Helping others or needing help is considered a weakness, and violence is the main way you get ahead, whether it's by pushing the Spanish out of Florida or Native Americans onto reservations. They are also stuck in the time when we had vast ammount of space and few people, so resources were ours for the taking.

The red scare also cannot be underestimated in its effect on American psychology. Have you talked to conservatives over 50? They still think communism is a huge domestic threat, that it's 1952 and anyone left of center is a Stalinist bent on toppling capitalism and revoking private ownership. They think that anyone who wants social programs to assist those vulnerable in society, or wants to hold corporate leaders accountable for misdeeds REALLY just wants a complete redistribution of wealth- to steal money from hard working business owners and hand it over to crack addicts. They see it as an all or nothing game. ANY compassion, business oversight, or government assistance is just the first step to concrete bloc housing and waiting in line for rotten potatoes.

"When I give the poor food they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist"

He tells people they are not doing as well, life is not like their idyllic childhood memories, as they should because of someone else. We all like to blame others for the fact we are not in Eden. His McNab comment is an example. Was it racist? Maybe not-- it just tried to exploit resentments about race. Like so many other broadcasts he is saying to his audience--- you are being cheated by liberals giving preferences to others. You would be doing better, America would be just like Leave to Beaver land, except for that.
Any time you move society significantly you upset people and one can use the resentment. Same thing the fascist did with the Jews and gypsies and intellectuals. Similar argument in many cases. Giving him so much unchallenged air time gives him power.

liberals should be po'd at this guy, i mean, no matter where in this country that you may be, when you turn on the radio you hear him making fun of obama, harry reid, clintons..etc.. that has to be enraging and you libs SHOULD be wishing him dead for all the damage that he does to the demacrat party. what is it, 14,000,000 listeners? don't worry though, liberals have keith olberman and his 100,000 nightly veiwers to counteract this great man

The radio stations on which Rush has programs are owned by Rupert Murdoch...ClearChannel...and the Australian will never retire Rush. This guy, Rupert, is from Australia, and he has more influence over American politics than any other news mogul. It's really disgusting. What does he know about the spirit of America? Nothing! And he doesn't care. He only wants power! And the uneducated ditto-heads give it all away to this evil..very evil man.
