Bloomberg :

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she's ``proud'' of the U.S. decision to wage the Iraq war and insisted that the world is not more dangerous than it was when George W. Bush took office.

``We're now beginning to see that perhaps it's not so popular to be a suicide bomber. We're beginning to see that perhaps people are questioning whether Osama Bin Laden ought to really be the face of Islam,'' Rice, 53, said in an interview to be broadcast this weekend on Bloomberg Television's ``Conversations with Judy Woodruff.''

Between Yoo & Rice I wonder if this is the competition that Stanford & Cal had hoped would lead their respective institutions into the 21st century.

The fact that Cal harbors Yoo is a disgrace. I find it hard to believe that my college; that protested Vietnam in the 60's, women's lib in the 70's and Apartheid in the 80's sees fit to hire such a bum. Shame on the Regents!!!! As for Stanford hiring Condi...I expect as much. Go Cal!

It's not looking so good for Yale and Harvard, either, or for that matter--the US Naval Academy. The resultsof taking "legacies"....the presidential candidates who graduated near the bottom of their classes, but with the arrogance of having graduated at all, and the waste of the well-qualified and decent people who weren't admitted because the legacies were given preference.

Why waste the gas sending her around the world. With all the hot air she has they could send her to Pluto.

She's trying to salvage her precious legacy and wondering what kind of job she'll be doing after January 20th.

She'll write a book, go on the Neo-con lecture circuit, get a seat on the board of some big oil corporation, settle down at the American Enterprise Institute, and do a part time gig on Fox News or write a column for the New York Times.
In short, she will make big $$$ and never have to answer for the havoc she has caused.
Ain't America grand!

Rice's comment sounds like something an individual says just before they're indicted.

"``We're now beginning to see that perhaps it's not so popular to be a suicide bomber. We're beginning to see that perhaps people are questioning whether Osama Bin Laden ought to really be the face of Islam,'' - Condi Rice

So just how many suicide bombers were there in Iraq before we invaded? And WTF does Bin Laden have to do with Iraq?

This is beyond absurd.

Oh Condi, soon you will be gone and many people will rejoice. They will not have to cower and hide everytime you are on TV. Maybe the new Secretary of state will make people proud.......and people can point at the screen and say proudly........that is my secretary of state.

I wonder if she is "proud" about Bush's redirecting our troops, resources, and efforts from Afghanistan to Iraq, thereby allowing the Taliban to become resurgent in Afghanistan like MRSA in a penicillin-only hospital?

Who said Osama Bin Landen was chosen to be "the face of Islam"?

WTF Condi? Ugh.

The ultimate fruit of self-deception and denial is to make "truth" out of a lie and "virtue" out of vice, and "enhanced techniques" out of torture. All of these horrors have been made in the name of a country that we all love and treasure as the last and best hope of humanity.

"Invade"? I thought that we "liberated" Iraq.

Oh well...

In the State Department, is going to war a measure of the success of diplomacy, or a mark of failure?
Makes sense Condy Rice would be relieved that the Defense Dep[t bailed her out, but if uinqualified to wage peace as SoS, why not just quit, Condi?? And no, don't expect a new assignment with the next Prez, unless it's an assignment to a cell.

This is why an impeachment inquiry must begin. If it doesn't, even if it is after 1/20/09 and Bush, Cheney, et al, are out of office, what they did becomes the default foreign policy for the US. Even if the next President changes the direction. What Bush and Cheney did remains acceptable for future administrations.

They'll never be indicted in the USA. President Obama is probably already planning the Jesse Helms memorial on the green to unit the country. The best we can hope for is that they will be too frightened to venture into the Free World for fear of winding up in the Hague, like Pinochet in his final years. But I wouldn't hold my breath. Of course after our economy collapses and OPEC buys us for ten cents on the dollar, anything is possible.
