Orlando Sentinel:

Walt Disney World employees won't be packing any heat in the company parking lots anytime soon.

The giant resort has declared that much of its sprawling property is exempt from a new state law that allows Floridians with concealed-weapons permits to keep firearms locked in their cars at work.

Disney, which has 60,000 employees and a long-standing policy against allowing guns on its land, cites an arcane -- and late-added -- loophole in the new law, which took effect Tuesday.

We are so lucky to have lobbying groups for the arms industry protecting our Constitutional freedoms.
We need guns everywhere. It's the only way to be safe.

And what's with the ban on guns in our public schools?
Just think how much safer our children would be if they were all armed and could defend themselves every time one of their classmates decided to come to school wearing a black duster.

And while we're at it, seniors need to have guns in those dangerous retirement communities.

This even has green environmental benefits because when we all kill each other we can reduce America's carbon footprint.

The NRA - protecting America's freedom!

Ya know. I love the NRA as much as the next guy, but the NRA is nothing but a group for dickless lunatics, to paraphrase the late, great George Carlin.

I wonder will they try to sue Northrup, Boeing or GE? any employer that deals in government contracts has a ban on guns on the premises. Not by their choosing it is government regulations that bans them. Of course the companies could always say no we do not agree, but then the governent can say fine we wil go elsewhere for our business.

Yeah, it would be great business for our government to base who gets their contracts on if the employs can have a gun in their cars. That's much better than basing it on the quality of their work or whoever bids the least money.....

My goodness, the NRA had better get a grip or they will manage in getting guns banned, they are sounding more and more like lunatics everyday, first wanting guns to be carried in airports, now at Disneyland? I'm sorry I do not begrudge anyone owning guns and using them for huntng and target practice, although target practie in my mind is a major waste of money putting little holes in paper is a pretty expensive thing to do. But with the wacky demands that the NRA has done of lately in my opinion it does not help their cause at all.

They are "feeling their oats" after the recent Supreme Court decision. Scalia's opinion was political red meat for the yahoos.

I agree ... they don't help their polt. agenda whatsoever with such nonsense! Some of these NRA conceal & carry people are truly scary ... especially, because they seem to place next-to-no value on public safety when it comes to lives being lost in shootings.

And you support your political agenda by ranting about how the Supreme Court was WRONG in Heller?

And the Brady Campaign claiming that the Second Amendment is compatible with the banning of functional firearms in the home is in touch with reality and well informed? If you notice, the Brady Campaign supported the DC gun ban that the Supreme Court just declared unconstitutianal. Since the "people" and the "militia" are the same people--the meaning of the phrase "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" is obvious. If you value the Bill of Rights, support "ALL" of the rights there--not just the ones you like, because any arguments you use to dismantle the second amendment can be used against the rest of them/

I hope that the NRA wastes many many many millions of their political dollars on this silly fight.

Too funny! Disney punked the NRA!:) How could that Republican legislator not see that one coming? He meets with a "small group of lawyers representing several businesses and business groups -- including Disney," envisions $$$ in his campaign war chest, and inserts the desired exemption in the bill. What? Didn't Mr. Mayfield ask his staff to review it before inserting the exception?

What ever will this do to Mr. Mayfield's NRA approval rating?

Mr. Mayfield, you made my 4th! I'll watch the fireworks tonight and think of you, my friend, and how you got screwed by the might Disney lobby.

Since Disney is private property, can't they decide what they will and will not allow?

Yes, that's why the NRA will get no where with this suit. Disney is not bound by the constitution as they are a private company. Contrary to popular belief the constitution is not an individual right, but rather restrictions on the states that ratify its amendments.

It restricts the Federal Government.

And the states per the 14th Amendment.

Ok mods..it seems your moderators are patrolling the main thread like hawks. Isn't it a bank holiday there? shouldn't you take a break and let people like me who have no life, and nothing to do on a nice summer bank holiday submit our posts in peace?

Please?

Who moderates the m*derat0rs? What they are asking for is another website where people can complain openly about their biases and ineptitudes- maybe even the m0derat*rs could post there, too.

The NRA ought to be totally ashamed of itself--what the h--- would you need guns at Disney for anyway except to kill and butcher people.

Same reason high profile individuals have personal security that's armed. Or are they there to kill and butcher people, too?

Maybe some people should invade the next NRA meeting with some automatics and show them what guns can really do...
