Bush Home

Even with the GOP convention nearly two months away, some in the Republican party are already worrying about how to handle the presence of President Bush, who is scheduled to speak on the opening night of the event, the New York Times reports:

This year, of course, Mr. McCain is trying to escape from Mr. Bush's shadow. Most Republicans say Mr. Bush should play whatever role Mr. McCain wants him to. Some, like Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California, simply wish Mr. Bush would keep out of it, though few would say so openly.

"I don't think there are a lot of people who want to see him at the convention," said Mr. Rohrabacher, who is especially irked with Mr. Bush for his stance on immigration. He said the president "should stay home from the Republican convention, and everybody would be better off."

How could Bush stay away when his clone is still attached? http://www.light-to-dark.com/McBush.html

If Bush stays home, the dems could come out with some t-shirts, bumper stickers etc.... that asks: "Where's Bush?". Kind of like the "Where's Waldo" theme. Fun for the whole family.

The whole world (except for the plant life) would be better off if bush just stayed home for the rest of his miserable reign. Let him go to Texas and chop down trees and shrubs. Or maybe he could take an extended hunting trip with Cheney.

Dana Rohrbacher has supported every one of Bushes policies.
He is against global warming but is trying to push a bill to address the dangers of.....pause......... Asteroids. I know , he's a total embrarrassment.
He is the result of Republican gerrymandered districts. My city is split in two to keep the democrats in a minority. Help us get rid of this guy .

You broke it you bought it.
It's time for the republicans to truly own the rewards that their terrible policies have created for this nation.
I saw alot of Bush Cheney stickers well after the start of the Iraq war and beyond. Where are they now? There's not a one. I wonder what they were thinking when they finally scraped those pathetic things off thier cars.
That's the tricky thing about democracy, you have to constantly have these annoying things called elections.
Next time you shouldn't have a vice president who isn't running for office write all of the presidents policies.
You republicans are just hosed for the next decade or so.

Personally, I hope Bush does address the Republican convention with one final example of his arrogant, bumbling, grammatically incorrect, uninspiring, fear mongering, lies infested speeches. McCain can then take the stage and prove that he too is equally willing and capable of making a fool out of himself and exposing his hypocrisy to a world-wide audience.

ALL I CAN SAY as one of those awful, godless Libeals, if Mr.Bush wishs to speak to the GOP on
opening night, how wonderful!! I believe he should speak any night he pleases, and above all
he should be locked in a dead body embrace and then full arm waving with a flag the night it
closes---no amount of money could win us such happy advertising to be rid of BUSH III.
TWO IS ENOUGH--THREE IS TERMINAL.

The GOP is a lot like my uncle, sticking with W when he was frontrunner, or the Yankees when they were frontrunners. He says, these days, he 'doesn't watch much baseball.' He doesn't much follow politics these days. Here's hoping he doesn't follow politics or baseball for many years to come.

I can picture the front row seats filled by George Bush, Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Tom DeLay,
Dennis Hastert, Mark Foley, Newt Gingrich, Dick Army, Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, Ahmed Chalabi,
Charlie Black, John McCain, Ray LaHood, Karl Rove and representatives from Airbus - Europe. Jack Abramhoff couldn't be there do to another appointment. In the second row there will be Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, Bill Kristol, Monica Crowley, Dick Morris, Anne Coulter, Ralph Reed, Grover Norquest, Sean Hannity, Fred Barnes, and Oliver North. These are the people who will run the country if John McCain is elected president.

This kind of thing just cracks me up. For 7 years the Repugs have made a demi-god of Bush. No position of his was too stupid for them to support, no blunder so heinous to disavow. Our country going down the tubes economically and morally because of Bush policies? Just keep supporting him and spin every story. Wrap ourselves in flags and hope for the best. But now? Now that it's going to cost them votes? Why, by all means lets throw him under the bus. NOW they're embarassed by Bush. NOW they don't want to be associated with his policies.

These guys claim to be patriots, but it's clear that's a crock. All they care about is power, money, and more power. Let's not let them forget that they have steadfastly supported Bush throughout the 7-year deconstruction of the Constitution and our nation. Never again.

Every time I see a story about alleged Democratic disunity, I wonder why the fact that Republicans are in disarray is not being reported more. Huffpo is the rare exception.

Everyone needs to stop crying about Al Gore and time travel and what if's. Bush is gone, gone, gone and no one should feel bad for him. He was given the maximum responsibility and acted like a little kid with a fire hose, soaking everything straight through with corruption and with absolutely no care or respect. He should be there to receive the heckles and to show his shame. The GOP ruined the last eight years and they deserve to be humiliated.

While I agree with your general sentiments, tommyboy, I think mere humiliation is scant, unduly light punishment for ruining the last eight years. And, sadly, I fear that this ruination will not quickly and easily come to an end come January '09.

This is easy. The GOPers just call their buds in the MSM and don't have 'em cover/film the speech. End of problem. Spins away.

every good convention has at least one animal act, let curious george dance and sing all he wants, it will
only serve to further general distaste for the GOP. what can he say, and whatever it is, it will be another
work of science fiction like the marionette himself.

Maybe he could wear a turban and ride into the convention on a giant, decorated elephant. It would suit his delusions of grandeur and he's such a buffoon, he'd be glad to do it.
