Bush Home

Even with the GOP convention nearly two months away, some in the Republican party are already worrying about how to handle the presence of President Bush, who is scheduled to speak on the opening night of the event, the New York Times reports:

This year, of course, Mr. McCain is trying to escape from Mr. Bush's shadow. Most Republicans say Mr. Bush should play whatever role Mr. McCain wants him to. Some, like Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California, simply wish Mr. Bush would keep out of it, though few would say so openly.

"I don't think there are a lot of people who want to see him at the convention," said Mr. Rohrabacher, who is especially irked with Mr. Bush for his stance on immigration. He said the president "should stay home from the Republican convention, and everybody would be better off."

Oh no, he'll be there, and he'll be giving a speech, and it will be all about "terrorists" and "terrorism" and "terror". Then, when everyone is all good and scared again, McCain will come out and coddle everyone with the American flag. The mainstream media will cover it extensively, and there you go. Also, for good measure, expect an orange alert around the time of the Democratic convention, to deaden the bounce.

Is Orange enough. I can't keep them colors straight. It's gotten to the point of "who cares." They'll have to cook something up as "credible" threat.

Or, they'll announce the capture of whoever is Al Qaida's #2 man of the month. Or maybe they'll find an Arab guy in Minneapolis who planned on farting during the RNC. Oh wait, they already have the 9/11 conspirators trial all lined up for September. Right.

Bush was elected by a majority in the last election. The sad thing is only 37% of registerd voters voted. that means he was elected by 19% of registerd in this country. We need to get off our rear ends and VOTE!!!!!

"Bush was elected by a majority in the last election" after hundreds of thousands of valid votes were "discarded".

Why aren't people protesting about the Republicans throwing out legislation that would have demanded paper trails, getting rid of the easily rigged voting machines?

Obama needs a large enough margin to prevent a 2000 or 2004 repeat.

McBush needs to be defeated, overwhelmingly.

All of this is so sad and disgusting to think that this kind of corruption is part of America's political system, yet I also fear the possibility of illigit voting apparatus. Where are the President Carter's who watch over our elections to referee and review them? Why (in the land where that holds democracy dear and that choses promote it across the world) are these concerns a reality? WHY?! It is so sad!

If we could only go back in time and get Al Gore elected... imagine where the world would be right now. Imagine ....

Al Gore was elected. Just not by large enough margin to keep Bush from stealing it. That's important to remember this fall.

I bet the number of times the pugs mention Bush's name will be far out done by the number of times the pugs mention the name of Reagan. The high point of the convention will be the appearance of Nancy Reagan. She'll get more TV time than both Georges.

Oh, but history is gonna vindicate him. We don't want him around now, but a hundred years down the line, Bush is going to be named a national saint.

That WAS meant tongue-in-cheek.... right?

If not, you need to do what a baby puppy does after being alive just a few days...

Reports are that the Dems have invited Bush to address the Obama Convention and Bush will agree if they promise to hoist a mesh netting so that he won't be hit by rotten tomatoes and flying beer bottles.

Stay at home on his multi-acred "ranch" with house keepers and cooks? No, make his ass go to the convention where thousands of Americans that he ignored can have their say.

Me too. Somebody hit him with a heaved rotten tomato! There are Republicans mad enough to do it. Their Frat boy messed up BIG TIME. I say the Republican Party should be toast for A HUNDRED YEARS if there IS A GOD and TWO HUNDRED YEARS if there ISN'T. This sorry Administration committed crimes against the nation that will be a stain for two hundred years. A total idiot.

My dream is that W would come out to Riverside Co. so I could heave that tomato! But he is too scared to face the American people without screeners and operatives mixed in with any crowd. But I can dream...

Make no mistake ... Dana Rohrbacher's comments were a sign of desperation. This fall he's up against Debbie Cook, the very popular former Mayor of Huntington Beach. Rohrbacher is concerned about his own neck, his own race, and nothing more.

During the first term of the Bush administration, Rohrbacher was trying to position himself as a future Newt Gingrich and was happy to be the lapdog echoing anything the White House said. But he's been forced to drop that strategy because Bush's unpopularity may cost him what was considered a solid Republican House seat in Orange County, CA.

The bottom line with Rohrbacher is that he's a blowhard and a bully. He's not afraid to talk nasty, but if he gets hit back he starts crying about it. The OC race is going to be interesting. I hope Debbie Cook creams him.

I hope she does too Egbert. This is the year Orange Co. and the Inland Empire should start turning Blue, not that it will matter...McSame is toast in CA.

There is absolutely nothing Bush could say or do to help McCain at the convention. If he talks about McCain's military record, he'll only call attention to the fact that his own record is fraudulent. If he talks about Iraq, he has two choices...either focus on the surge (which McCain called for in the beginning, only to be rebuffed), or the political situation (which is still awful and for which McCain has no answer).

If Bush talks about the economy, it will draw attention to the bear market in stocks, the real estate crisis, Bush's failures, and McCain's ignorance of economic issues. If Bush talks about family values, McCain will sound more like a Democrat, thus infuriating his right-wing base, or contradict himself, which will compromise his reputation as a straight shooter.

Rorabacher is right. Bush should stay home. But I promise you he won't, because he's the "decider."

In point of fact Rep. Rohrabacher is an embarrassement to the state of California. Having said that, he has made a good point. Bush should go on vacation and just keep his mouth shut for the remaining of his time in office. Knowing the Repugs he will not miss the opportunity to speak (I use that term loosely) to the nation and mumble on and on about tax cuts and offshore drilling. What else can these idiots talk about. Oh yeah, that are for the working man. LOL

The Reeps really have a hot potato burning their hands. Maybe they should require him to stand in the corner while he is staying home during the convention.

Bush is only a puppet, a figure head, merely an embodiment of the darkness that inhabits that space in every Republican where there once was a soul. If Republicans deny George W. Bush a prominent place at the Republican Convention, you should also cover every mirror and any other reflective surfaces because to look at George W. Bush is to look at yourselves.

Everyone else should wear necklaces of garlic just to be safe. When these people look into a mirror, there is no image. Nothing. Vampire souls do not reflect in mirrors. And these people are vampires who feed and have their being in the blood sacrifice of others.
