Bush Home

Even with the GOP convention nearly two months away, some in the Republican party are already worrying about how to handle the presence of President Bush, who is scheduled to speak on the opening night of the event, the New York Times reports:

This year, of course, Mr. McCain is trying to escape from Mr. Bush's shadow. Most Republicans say Mr. Bush should play whatever role Mr. McCain wants him to. Some, like Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California, simply wish Mr. Bush would keep out of it, though few would say so openly.

"I don't think there are a lot of people who want to see him at the convention," said Mr. Rohrabacher, who is especially irked with Mr. Bush for his stance on immigration. He said the president "should stay home from the Republican convention, and everybody would be better off."

Mr. bush is the epitome of a miscreant. He has ruined this once-great Nation. I am a longtime registered Republican and I have nothing but disdain for the abject fool.

Bush and all his "cowboy" buddies have robbed and shredded the constitution and should be ashamed of himself for allowing it to happen. Just like Scott McClellen said the people believed in Bush and what did he do? Believed in his buddies more and look at this country! It's shameful!

The "ranch" in Texas is little more than a political prop. I doubt very much that, after January, the people of Crawford will see very much of George W. Bush. This is the only time in my life that I can imagine a former American President who will have to fear for his own safety after leaving office.

NO!!!!

He's from New England. The Bushes are NOT TEXANS. They are aliens and only stopped in Texas and Florida for the power. If they had another son who they could pose in California, they would. The problem is that the remaining son(s) are even more incompetent and couldn't even be passed off as well as the dolt George Jr.

Sane Texans hate the Bushes.

With any kind of luck (and intelligence) Democrats ought to be able to run against George W. Bush for the next 20 years or so.

Use him to ensure a Democratic majority. Whenever the Republicans get uppity they can wave the Bloody Shirt.

Like Dems did for 2 generations after Herbert Hoover.

Only G W Bush is a far worse President than Hoover. Hoovers crimes were of ommission. He failed to act. GW'.. are crimes of commission. He acted to gut the Constitution, get involved in an illegal immoral war, WHICH HE LOST. (which is always the worst crime of a politician)

Gutted the economy, turn the Federal Government over to the highest bidder. Allowed private corporations to loot the treasury. etc etc etc.

If the Democrats can't use this for the next 20 years they are fools,

Even Reagan and (god help us) Nixon had some image of themselves as public servants, no mater how misguided. With any luck, we'll never again see this toxic combo platter of ignorance, cynicism, and malice.

Of course, with bad luck, we'll never see it, or anything, again. The planet would be toast with McCain in charge. But hey, no pressure.

The Romans probably thought they had dodged the bullet when Sulla died.

But it was Julius Caeser who used culla's precedent to destroy the Republic.

These losers still agree with and worship the chimp. Its just that the poll numbers are pretty hard to deny and they are trying to slink away from him without taking a clear and strong stand against his policies which they have never done. If he announced he was invading Iran tomorrow and using the exact same game plan used in the Iraq invasion these fools would be cheering from the rooftops. They will never turn on their dear leader or stop drinking the kool-aid. I would bet not one member of the GOP stood up and took a stand against rice's statement yesterday. Its finished for them. Their shi+ stinks to high heaven.

What's funny is that Republicans aren't more ashamed of themselves than they're ashamed of being associated with the man they elected, enabled and protected, while he proceeded to be the most negligently incompetent and destructive president in United States history. Republicans think they need to separate themselves from George W. Bush when they're most obviously damaging association is with the word "Republican". Voters know that without the unwavering lock-step support of Republicans Bush would never have been able to wreak the havoc he has on the lives of millions of America's citizens and millions more innocent Iraqi citizens. Voters know that Republicans have turned our country toward elitism, corporatism, militarism and facism. The word Republican is now an epithet in America's vernacular. That's why so many once proud Republicans are now calling themselves Independents. That's why so many sheepish Republicans are going to stay home on November 5th due to their disgust and embarrassment for ever having been blind and stupid enough to be fooled by leaders so completely bankrupt of ethical and moral integrity that they would betray the best interests of the American citizens who elected them. John McCain won't garner 200 Electoral votes and he'll lose the popular vote to Obama by double digits. Not because he is a Bush supporter, but because he is a Republican.

Bush definitly needs to be at the Repug Conv to pass the baton and get a goodbye hug from McCain. Now that will make for a great photo-op. Since the both of them were pilots, perhaps they could arrive by heliocopter and appear on-stage in their jump suits. I would like to see McCain jump to the ground from the door of the heliocopter.

Are you sure about that?

Are you sure Dubai doesn't have an extradition treaty with the USA?

Are you sure they are not signatories to the World Court?

I think the condo must be in Paraguay.

No, that won't work. They got rid of their dictator.

O where, o where is a poor war criminal to go?

I heard an International lawyer who specializes in War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity on NPR the other day. According to him, it might be in both Bush's and Cheney's best interests if they don't go on vacation out of the country. He says they're vulnerable to being detained for crimes against humanity. If any member nation puts out a warrant, any other member nation has to detain them. Pinochet, the past president of Chile had this experience. He went to London for medical treatment assuming he would have no difficulty because he is a friend of Margaret Thatcher. Spain put out an international arrest warrant for the crime of torture and England detained and held Pinochet for extradition. This happened in 1998 and set a precedent that blows an ill will for those who torture--even if their name tags say president and vice president. France and Switzerland also issued warrants for Pinochet's extradition on the same charges. The U.S. didn't cooperate, possibly because of support/involvement in some of Pinochet's activities that could have proved embarrassing. Google Pinochet London for more information.

Considering the extent to which the system had been rigged (DOJ, Circuit Courts, veto power and pardons), exactly how effective would an effort to impeach have been - even with complete unity on the Democratic side?

I agree that the case for impeachment is evident. But the mechanism to prosecute has been compromised by the Bush Administration. The potential for prosecution still will exist after Bush is out of office and this mechanism has been put back in order. Is this something Obama will pursue? I think he's been clear about it. But for him to pursue accountability using the same methods this president is using to conduct business is not a legitimate means to an end. And I sincerely believe he's cognizant of that.

Restoring the Constitution and bringing the violators to answer is not a quick process. Obma will have to be very measured and considerate in his efforts. He has given me no reason to suspect he will be anything but. I would encourage you to check out his site to see what his plans are. With the courts system in the shape it is in, it will take time to achieve the accountability we need. But it cannot happen overnight, and we of all people need to check the mlestones leading to this end rather than expect it all at once.

Not sure who is interested in a bimbo desk clerk who had no CIA secrets(she would’ve blabbed them in her book for a buck), a former spokes hole who did know nothing and tried selling that nothing in a book(Scott) or the ideal that our constitution applies to Osama or our brown friends from down south. Treason is stealing state secrets such as Bubbas intelligence on Iraq. Impeachment is not the vehicle obviously after the whole country knew bubba lied about his Monica and was impeached with no term left. Pardoning felons was also real smart. Obama looks like he is going to finish Carters dismantling of our free market economy.
