Bush Home

Even with the GOP convention nearly two months away, some in the Republican party are already worrying about how to handle the presence of President Bush, who is scheduled to speak on the opening night of the event, the New York Times reports:

This year, of course, Mr. McCain is trying to escape from Mr. Bush's shadow. Most Republicans say Mr. Bush should play whatever role Mr. McCain wants him to. Some, like Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California, simply wish Mr. Bush would keep out of it, though few would say so openly.

"I don't think there are a lot of people who want to see him at the convention," said Mr. Rohrabacher, who is especially irked with Mr. Bush for his stance on immigration. He said the president "should stay home from the Republican convention, and everybody would be better off."

I notice a conspicuous lack of trolls here defending him.

They must really be embarrassed.

You are absolutely correct. They have evaporated, dissapeared and are nowhere to be seen. Even the RW talk hosts are off fighting other battles. Nobody, but nobody wants to be associated with GW.

Guess what? You aren't the only one who doesn't think McCain's stable. Google Phillip Butler McCain and read his article on why he won't vote for McCain. He was at the Naval Academy with McCain and spent 8 years in a North Viet Namese POW camp. McCain was in the same camp for the last five years. Butler is a highly decorated Navy combat veteran pilot who was awarded two purple hearts, two legion of merits, two bronze stars and two silver stars and went on to stay in the Navy until his retirement. Butler say that he honors McCain, who received a silver star and a purple heart, for his service, but has substantial reasons for believing that it would be dangerous for America if McCain became president. Highly recommended read. It appeared in the publication "Today In the Military" and comes up on Firefox under Butler McCain. Very interesting perspective, especially on POWs.

Rohrabacher is right that Bush is a disgrace on immigration and should stay away from the GOP convention. Unfortunately McAmnesty is just as commited to open borders and national suicide.

Not only should Bush attend and give a televised speech to an applauding crowd - but all those Republicans who made the brand what is is - Tom Delay, Larry Craig, Randy Cunningham, Cheney and so many others alas already forgotten should be seated right behind the podium - to remind all of the values this remarkable party stands for even to this very day.
Americans should immediately write or e-mail their incumbents or local GOP candidates - and request - nay demand - autographed photos of their own Republican politicians shaking hands with America's most memorable president. No expense should be spared for this lavish affair. Recreate the flight deck and island of the Oriskany or Forrestal as the stage with a huge mission accomplished banner. After an array of enthusiastic CEO's of America's largest oil companies proudly list the many accomplishments of the remarkable president - the successor is introduced.
The lights dim - and a Douglas skyhawk swings down to the stage - bounces several times amid
spectacular pyrotechnics and the new candidate proudly emerges - the crowd explodes.

Larry Craig will be backstage engaged in a three way with Bill Crist and Lindsey Graham. Foley will try to film it but will get bored and head on over to the boy scout campgrounds.

Posted this earlier (for you old-timers)...

Who's sorry now? Who's sorry now?
Who's heart is aching From breaking each vow?

Who's sad and blue? Who's crying too?
Just like I cried over you?

Right to the end Just like a friend
I tried to warn you somehow
You had your way, Now you must pay
I'm glad that you're sorry now.

Thanks so much RaraAvis17: that recording brought back great memories, but also brought a few tears. This is my opinion only, but the singers of our days were actually singing and not yelling as the one do now. Oh well, thanks again, it meant a lot to me. The lyrics do seem to speak to Bushy, but I don't suppose he will ever hear that song sung. Too bad!

This is shocking President AWOL.
After all the money you’ve stolen from the American tax payer to funnel it into their bottomless pockets they still want you to stay home during the November coups?
Talk about ungrateful.
After all the middle class kids you’ve sent to die in the Iraq Oil War to secure their bottom lines, so their blue-blood, born to privilege, republican kids could stay home and not work they’re trying to keep you away from the convention.
I guess they don’t need Y’ALL anymore AWOL Boy.
Truth be told, nobody needs you anymore AWOL Boy.

See, if you had just learned to read, and learned not to be such a gutless republican coward, you could have joined the party of REAL AMERICANS.

Having a Republican National Convention WITHOUT the leader of the party being featured prominently???
Unthinkable!
Bring him on!

Why? He's been absent in conscience, competence and compassion for the majority of his Presidency. Why should he all of a sudden wake up?

Oh noes, the Decider stay home? He should be front and center speechifying, endorsing and hugging the Candidates, lots of photo ops. The Reptilians wanted him in office, they got him, and now they can live with and enjoy all the disastrous glory he can bring them.

It's too late baby, all though you really tried to break it, too late baby-apologies to Carol King.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/08/senator-graham-mccains-po_n_105916.html
Senator John McCain has aggressively tried to distance himself from Bush in an effort to avoid being tagged by Democrats as running for Bush's third term. However, as Think Progress notes, McCain's chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.
Stephanopoulos asked Sen. Graham if McCain's tax and healthcare policies are essentially "an extension or maybe an enhancement of the Bush policies." Sen. Graham answered, "Yeah, absolutely."
