Obama will accept the Democratic nomination at Denver's Invesco field -- which can hold over 75,000.

"The Democratic Party is nominating a true change candidate this August, and it is only fitting that we make some big changes in how we put on the Convention," DNC Chairman Howard Dean says. "By bringing the last night of the Convention out to the people, we will be able to showcase Barack Obama's positive, people-centered vision for our country in a big way."

"Barack Obama's campaign for change has inspired millions of Americans and brought people into the political process who might never have been involved," said Convention Co-Chair Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius. "This change in the Convention program will allow thousands of first-time participants a chance to take part. I can't think of a better Convention finale for our nominee who has made reaching out to voters a hallmark of his campaign."

"Senator Obama and the DNCC have truly brought the community into the Convention," said Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. "This decision will enable thousands of residents from Colorado, the Rocky Mountain West and across the nation to witness history first hand. What a way to fire up our grassroots activists as we head into the fall campaign."

Rumors of the switch surfaced on Thursday.

The move from the Pepsi Center convention hall means "accepting the party's designation, historic as it may be, will not be the central focus of his remarks," The Nation says. "Rather, Obama will be putting the convention -- and the Democratic party -- behind him as he launches . . . outreach to Americans who don't usually vote and Americans who don't usually vote Democratic."

This just in:
The McCain campaign announces that John Sidney McCain III will accept the nomination of the Republican Party in the back of a Minneapolis Costco where they give away the free food samples. The McCain campaign further stated that a gathering of old farts, looking for free food they could afford to buy but are too cheap to pay for is the core of McCain's base. With the rallying cries "Why should I pay for your kid's school?" and "Get off my lawn!" they hope to gather a crowd of several hundred. Or so.

This seems funny but...it needs to die. It needs to lay low, it needs to fade away. What a great boost for the struggling company though.
Those things are soooo last summer.

Kerry had the flip flops and now.......the crocks? What are the reugs up to? Are they trying to make this stick? Sadly.......the media will do it for them , ya know? Oh...the idiots...LOL..the media have become republican sheep. Really, the right have their base, they are the sheep they eat anything, eat it all up. The sheep believe...anything.... Now, That base has been reduced to ...what...29% ? Can't win an election with those numbers. So...the media is stepping up doing it's part to reach the masses. And...again sadly, the average person trusts the media.
Also......how pathetic is McCain.....evryday he tell us what Obama will or will not do. Hump...how about he starts telling us what he would do.

This is scary!
We all know that the school system has failed. The kids aren't being educated.
But, we have to look back at the history of the thirties!
This is Nuremburg!
Peter Guggenheim is planning to record this event - therefore he is Obama's Leni Reinfenstalh.
What will the movie be called - The Triumph of Hope instead of the Triumph of the Will?
Be afraid folks. Be very afraid.

This one is worn out. The voodoo is gone. We've had enough of being told the Boogeyman is out to get us.

Try "Baby Killers" or "Gay Marriage" or "Raise Your Taxes". But I suspect they won't work either.

Delle:

Let me see if I've got this correct; man is going to give a speech at a big stadium and so it's a Nuremberg rally? You suggest that we look back at history, namely the thirties; perhaps, it would be instructive for you to take your own medicine physician and read a bit of the history of Hitler's Germany and how it came to be so.

This isn't 1932, not every good orator is Hitler, the problem wasn't that Hitler was a good orator and a large rally does not make it Nuremberg. If you studied some history instead of pretending to know something about it, you would know these things. OH btw. you've already violated Godwin's Law, you lose.

Delle: You say that "kids aren't being educated" and then "This is Nuremburg". You misspelled Nuremberg, which makes your post wonderfully ironic.

You've got your talking point down pat, you just have no idea what it actually means. Just like that doofus who couldn't explain why what Chamberlain did was appeasement, although he repeated the words over and over.

Talking points are no substitution for honest debate (or honest thought for that matter). And trying to compare Obama to Hitler (merely because he gives a speech in a stadium) disrespects the millions who were slaughtered by him and the millions more who fought against him. For the party that so loudly proclaims itself to be patriotic, spewing out pre-packaged garbage like this diminishes the sacrifices of those who actually fought tyranny.

Right wing puppet masters keep trying to find some line that will stick. And idiots like you keep carrying their water. It would be funny if so much weren't at stake.

In response the Republican Party today announced that McCain will also be giving his acceptance speech in a different venue. It will the held in the Larry Craig Memorial bathroom. A spokesman for the Rep Party gave the following reasons 1. To bring the Campaign closer to its constituency and 2. To allow McCain the occasional break as he normally can't go more then 10 min without a pit stop.

Me too.

It's gonna backfire.

Here we have a candidate with very little experience, who has an undistinguished record as a legislator, who is running on character, which really means his golden throat since there is little else to go on. We don't know who he is and where he really stands.

I had no idea he was for the death penalty or for tearing down the wall that separates church and state or for gutting the constitution to save us from terrorism. Now I'm waiting on his real positions on gay marriage and abortion.

You need to get use to the idea of an "inclusive" government--an America that represents ALL the people!. Until now, this country has demonstrated an "us" and "them" attitude. So, what's wrong with giving all Americans wh so desire, an opportunity to participate in the convention events? Don't worry about your illness, healthcare for ALL is on the way. You'r recover from your sickness.

I'm curious, when did Obama say that he was for 'tearing down the wall that separates church and state', I must have missed that speech. He IS talking about faith-based programs and as a non-theist, I would prefer that he wouldn't but that's not a deal breaker NOR is it 'tearing down the wall...'

Actually, he said that all of them would have to abide by Title 7... and FYI the first amendment does not mention separation of church and state... that was brought in through some judicial decisions.... do your research....
The constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Both the free exercise clause and the establishment clause place restrictions on the government concerning laws they pass or interfering with religion. No restrictions are placed on religions except perhaps that a religious denomination cannot become the state religion.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:08 PM on 07/07/2008

So let's put this idiotic right wing talking point to bed once and for all.

If we follow the moronic logic (speeches at big crowds = Nazis) to its conclusion, we give up some of the finest, most inspiring speeches of all time. Scrap Kennedy's "ask not" speech. Ditto FDR's "Nothing to fear but fear itself". King could not "have a dream" or talk about the promised land. There would be no "day that will live in infamy", and no instance "that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth".

When people are in crisis, great leaders inspire. Just because McCain can't seem to do that, don't fault Obama for it. And just because he inspires many in a nation desperate for change doesn't make him a Nazi.

I know you trolls are just repeating the spoon-fed swill you are being served by your right wing masters, but can you try actually THINKING about what they instruct you to say before you run out and blindly repeat it over and over?

Conservative think tanks are smokin' trying to figure out how Obama gets a crowd at his speeches - and he doesn't even have to use our military as a backdrop. Or use the crowd that was wheeled into the community room at the local old-folks home this morning (make sure you gather up ALL of the canes and walkers before the cameras roll!)
