Lieberman

Wednesday morning, Brave New Films and its allies will deliver a petition with over 43,000 names to selected members of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, asking them to strip Senator Joe Lieberman of his rank and committee chairmanship when the 111th Congress takes its seats in 2009.

"We CANNOT tolerate a leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus who supports George Bush and McCain's War in Iraq. We CANNOT tolerate a Democratic chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee who endorses and stumps for McCain," the petition reads.

Lieberman's spokesman responds: "Americans are tired of this type of old, petty, partisan politics. Sen. Lieberman will continue to put the country's interests before partisan interests."

Read the full petition here.

The American people, and the citizens of Connecticut, can thank themselves for their stupidity with regard to Lieberman and the Congressional stalemate.

But then, most Americans are uneducated and stupid. Just look at how many voted for Bush, twice.

Only 33% of Democrats voted for him in CT 2006.

50% of Indies and 70% of Repubs, these are the ones to thank for Lierman's win!

Then again, they're the same ones who gave us Bush, so what do you expect?

Yea, I'd like to know how many of those 43,000 signatures are from residents of Conn.? Was glad to see Lieberman rejected in the primary... shocked and disappointed that he was able to subsequently win reelection against the Democratic nominee as an Independent. How crazy is that.... I'd be embarrased if I were from Conn.! Aloha

I'd like to know just which "Americans" he's talked to. The vast majority of Americans do not agree with is stand on the Iraq war, they did not want him anywhere around the white house and said so in both the primaries and general whenever he ran. Even the people of CT told him to get lost, but he just needed the power trip and whatever else he gets from his senate seat, and wouldn't go away. I hope that when payback comes from his dem colleagues, it is all he deserves and more. And it will come, Joe, you aren't all that you think you are.

Maybe parties shouldn't matter in America but where we are now in American politics they do, Liberman should have nothing to do with the Democratic party. It may be a broad party but he does not fit.

We have just 6 months left of this administration and the same of this senate. It is all lame-duck now and since neither side can control the issues, (disregarding the democratic capitulation that we are so used to now) it is time to throw liebeman overboard and render him completely useless. He is going to caucus with the repugs next year anyway, so now is the time to get rid of him and show that his insubordination will not be tolerated one more minute.

Lieberman is a traitor to those that brung him, much less to just about every other American left standing.
He has the blood of over 4,000 trusting American soldiers on his hands and ... I could go on and on about the thousands of disabled soldiers and over a million murdered Iraqis, displaced, with their nation shattered. He just wants to kill more Palestinians and Iranians and anyone else who doesn't kiss his powerful ring in the M.E. using our soldiers to do his fighting for him.

The Democratic Party deserves to loose this election and it deserves its reputation for incompetence and lack of integrity if it keeps this cretin in his prestigious positions in the Senate.
Is he being watched? What's he cooking up to do us in as we speak?

Approximately 1 million Iraqis dead, most of them young children.
4.5 million Iraqis displaced (internal and external refugees)
Unknown number of Iraqi wounded
Approximately 30K - 100K Americans wounded
4K+ American military dead
Uncounted number of American civilian contractors dead or wounded
Growing number of American military committing suicide

Joe Lieberman's four children, although within the age range to support their father's war, have preferred to remain in their high-paid cushy jobs at home and let others do the fighting.

Hello from Connecticut. Listen we cannot apoligize enough for this mess with Joe. What a national and international disgrace! Unfortunately he cannot be recalled, hopefully he can be rendered harmless throughout the rest of his term as a democrat/independent/wh@re. He is lower than dirt, dung, and pond scum combined here in Connecticut. But even with that said I always have to remember that many here felt the same way about GW and look what happened. Oy vey!

There is enough blame to go around.
Almost every state democratic party apparatus has a member or two that do not reflect the membership.
When the time comes I just hope that the good citizens of Connecticut can fix the problem. There has been enough blame fixing going on.

The voters of Connecticut did see through him. He LOST the Democratic nomination and ony won in the g.e. because of some dodgy electronic voting. And did the DLC support it's own Democratic candidate? NO!

He did not win the general because of electronic voting.

He won the general because Republicans crossed over and voted for him.

This man has proved himself to be not only a liar but one who puts his own career above his constituents and country. My biggest issue is why the voters of CT didn't see this one coming...

Lieberman is just the ugly face on a Democratic Party that has sold its soul to the Evil One. Invasion of the body snatchers. Even mild-mannered Nancy Pelosi has gone over. And I'm starting to worry about Barack Obama.

the voters of CT will be responding to Joe with the same two words come election time. I know Joe is not up for election this November. But what is going to do for four long years until people of CT dump him?

The Democratic Party is mortally weakened by the what the late Paul Wellstone called the Republican Wing of the Democratic Party. People like Lieberman, pro-torture Feinstein and Schumer, or pro-war Emanuel, reduced the Party to a quiet support team for the Republicans.
