Many times I get upset with Chris Matthews because he's always interrupting his guests when they're trying to give him an answer. This happens more times than not but every so often he will insist on to direct answer to a direct question and won't let go until he guess the answer. This is a good example on how just firm with Chris can be when he wants. Have to admit I enjoyed this one :-).

Once again Barack Obama has been vindicated. First calling the war a mistake because it would interfere with our efforts in Afghanistan. Second calling for strikes in Pakistan with or without government permission and now, a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. He has the intelligence and wisdom necessary to lead our country.

This is huge for Obama. This puts a bullet in McBush's new ad http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/08/mccains-new-ad-beautiful_n_111390.html

"John McCain doesn't always tell us what we 'hope' to hear," says the narrator, with a particular emphasis (and pause around) the word hope. "Beautiful words cannot make our lives better. But a man who has always put his country and her people before self, before politics can. Don't 'hope' for a better life. Vote for one."

Couldn't have said it better myself McBushie! That's why I'm voting Obama!

"....... his country and her people before self".Very commendable but I would have been a teensy weensy bit more impressed if he could have put his first sick wife before self also.

Chris totally owned the guy supporting McCain! I would just like for one republican to tell me what "victory" in Iraq means. They want us gone, we want us gone, the oil guys, and the pander bear are the only ones who want us to stay! Bring our troops home now!!

You can't win an occupation.

Anyone too stupid to accept that our efforts in Iraq is NOT a war, should go exchange places in Iraq with someone who "gets it".

I do not even think it is an occupation any more.......that gives it too much kudos.
It is daylight robbery ......... simple as...........and the Iraqi Govt. are calling them on it.

I feel so so sorry for the troops, they have been sent as soldiers and used as muggers...... ,

I watch the show today as well but I was upset that he didn't check the republican guy who came on after the Vets. The republican guy says Obama before said he would not listen to Generals on the ground and know he has changed his position this is absurdity. Chris needs to bring on democratics with some back bone and call BS on the republicans sometimes.

Exactly laire. That flip-flop smear was debunked (with video of the fall debates) the night before on Countdown. Obama has always said he would listen to the Generals and remain flexible, but that he would give them a new mission of getting out of Iraq.

What a mess. All of the Iraqi's we don't kill, we'll put on reservations. Then we'll take their oil, after that we'll make them part of the United States.
We don't have the economic resources to occupy this country forever.

I saw this live - it was great!

Pete just made himself look like an idiot trying to twist this in McB's favor. Basically, it's a completely impossible task and I hope all the other shills try to do it as well - it shows the incredible hypocrisy of the far right.

Pete's probably pretty pissed that the $15MM these idiots are spending is going for nothing. Very easy to offset the message - the President of Iraq just endorsed Barak's approach, if not essentially endorsing Barak directly.

BTW, it is debateable that this is the result of the surge - the Iraqis had made some good strides on their end in terms of resolving in-fighting and got a major opposition group to join the security forces.

That that, "my friends".

It's about time that Chris Matthews showed another side of the story. I was beginning to give up hope that he would ever challenge McCain. Now Chris needs to fully attack McCain's delusional economy and constant flip-flops. Just as passionately as he has been constantly attacking Obama on everything since Obama became the presumptive candidate. I know the man did not want to be seen as an Obama supporter (even though through the primaries he was in love with Obama). But come on, people can get tired of the Obama bashing. The people just want the truth of what is going on in both the "D" and "R" camp. We are all sick of the MSM spin that does not come remotely close to the reality of what the people care about.

I saw that show. It seems like lately Chris is getting tired of and frustrated with repub talking heads who must stand in front of a mirror and memorize their talking points word for word before they get on TV. When asked to deviate any little bit from their memorization, they are unable to. I'm glad that an occasional interviewer is calling them on it, because it's been quite annoying to viewers for a long time. I now turn over immediately whenever an interviewer has no control over his/her show and lets people say whatever they want rather than answer the question.

This was a great show tonight by Chris. I'd like to see Chris debate Sean Hannity.

Why argue? The military is the people's army and the majority of the people of the United States of America wants to get our troops out of Iraq now. It seems the Iraqis want that too.
