Matthew McConaughey's Girlfriend Camila Alves Gives Birth To Boy

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have named their newborn son Levi Alves McConaughey, as the new father explains on his website:

"'Levi' was another name for the apostle "Matthew" in the bible...they were, in fact, two names for the same person...our son was born at 6:22pm, and this particular 'time' represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in the bible; "if thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.'"

Matthew McConaughey, 38, and his girlfriend of two years, Brazilian swimsuit model and handbag designer Camila Alves, 24, welcomed a son on Monday night in Los Angeles. The boy weighed in at 7 lbs., 4 oz. and is the first for both.

McConaughey broke the baby news on his blog back in January:

Got some blessed news... a celebration of life and bounty... a newborn conceived.. yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together... 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far... we are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life... from moms and dads, to family, to community, it takes the best will and support from everyone to raise the healthiest children we have in society... wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution... thanks for bein fans of me and my work and now this new and miraculous chapter in my life, as me and Camila and our child do our best to just keep livin... wow, McConaughey

Given McConaughey's laid-back attitude to just about everything, I was kind of hoping they'd name him Dude. Then when the kid was running around the beach or the mall, he could yell out, "Hey....DU­DE!"

What's with all this " he was trapped" talk? Birth control cuts both ways. If men don't want to be fathers they have options. Personally, I think unprotected sex, by either partner, signals the wish to procreate. I never trust my partner to cover the bases.

She looked gorgeous a couple of weeks ago at the Battle in Seattle screening party in Malibu that they attended. Even so close to being about to pop - they came out and showed their support for the film. Superficial or not - that baby is going to be gorgeous!!
