Obama responds to the RNC's "Balance" ad attacking his energy policy with an ad tying McCain to Bush.

"McCain and Bush support a drilling plan that won't produce a drop of oil for seven years," the ad says.

[WATCH]

Obama's ad will air in the same battleground states hosting the RNC version: Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

This is why I'm so glad that he's decided to allow us to finance his campaign. My family makes sure to give every month so that we can do our part. I want him to always answer their smears asap.

As a Canadian, I am so proud of our health care. Canadians or Brits, or all industrialized countries would not do without it. Americans have many misconceptions about it (planted by your government, no doubt). I called my doctor yesterday morning and got in yesterday afternoon. Yes we do have a choice about what doctor we go to. Yes, if warranted, we are sent to a specialist. Because of a lack of doctors, like everywhere else, we do have waiting lists. However, if your case is urgent, you are put at the head of the list. I recently had an angiogram and angioplasty, all the heart tests leading up to it etc. cardiologist and hospital and never paid a penny for it.,except for the $50.00 a month I pay the BC. Government for my health care. As I have Duel Canadian/British citizenship, I know the Brits are extremely proud of their health care too. You do pay more taxes, but believe me America, you never have to worry about going into debt to be well cared for.

The NHS is the greatest British achievement of the twentieth century.

My best friend is Canadian. She used to live here in TX and realized that she couldn't afford all of the procedures that she needed for her arthritis. She decided that it would be best for her to move home, find a job and have her surgeries done there. She said that all she has to do is pay for $500/year deductible and all her meds and surgeries are covered. She would be devastated if she would've stayed here. She'd probably be confined to a wheelchair. I think it's really sad that the healthcare industry here has brainwashed people to believe that Nationlized Healthcare is the devil. Some feel that as long as they have healthcare, uninsured people be damned.

Drilling offshore or in ANWR could increase our oil by 10 to 20%. The Danes, per-capita, use 1/2 the energy that we do and live comfortably. Americans are natural pigs when it comes to energy, so even if we tried we couldn't cut our consumption to the Danish level. But, using the same existing technology, we could easily cut our consumption by 20-30% without major changes in life style.

Our choice, continue punching holes in the ground with last century's technology, or using existing conservation technology to achieve the same basic result. The GOP solution creates few jobs, in Alasks and offshore oil rigs. The other approach would create millions of jobs all across the nation retro-fitting buildings etc. And that does not include the new jobs from new technology spin-offs.

China, India, Brazil, etc don't have an ANWR. They will concentrate on conservation and new energy technology. Has 8 years of George Bush ruined our confidence? Or are we going to rise to the challenge? This isn't about pristine coasts or Alaskan wildlife - it's about US.

The media is giving McCain a big assist by repeating his incorrect accusations of Obama without further comment and nitpicking every single thing Obama says. The 5 days the media hopped on the GOP bsahing of Welsey Clark was 5 days away from Obama. The art of distraction is alive and well.

we need to do something 5 years 7 years...who cares...do something please...we didn't address the problem in the 70's...and BO's response is it won't help for 7 years? Well if it will help in 7 years or 30 years then do it!

I agree let's do something. Let's move to non-gasoline cars. Lots of great alternatives waiting - electric, hydrogen, natural gas - so that in 5 to 7 years we don't need the wells that McSame is so eager to drill.

I like your long-view thinking, Ruby. It's not something that Americans normally excel at.

My long-view, however, is a bit different. Long term, oil is not the energy answer. It won't likely go away, but there are other much cleaner fuel options that can be developed with the right leadership. We should try our best to ween ourselves now, when there's real incentive. It will be painful, but our grandkids will thank us.

This offshore drilling is all a distraction by the Republicans to keep us from investing on laternative fuels.... they already have the OK to drill offshore in many areas but they haven't done it yet because it is not really in their best interest to do it now! The Oil Companies are making megaprofits from the current situation... what makes you think that they would want to change that sweet deal?

I am surprise people can't see this!

wow, I want to be like him when I grow up. Except without the crashing 5 planes, finishing 5th from the bottom at the Naval Academy, dumping the sick wife for a hot rich chick, participating in the Keating scandal, punching congressional members in the face, calling wife a cu*t in public, helping pass legislation that favors lobbiest, breaking the finance reform law he helped to write, renoucing almost every centrist stance of career to pander to conservatives, embrace homophobic/zenophobic preachers to court evangelicals even though I don't believe a word they say. Yep, leave all that out and you got yourself a genuwine American hero, yes sir.

Don't forget not paying his taxes, gambling addiction, chasing skirts, his wife stealing prescription drugs, his son belonging to an openly prejudice country club, not releasing his military or psyche record so we can find out if he suffers from PTSD.

Ummmmm...you forgot frequent soul hugs from his BFF GWB, the fact that he probably was born OUTSIDE OF THE PANAMA CANAL ZONE, thereby invalidating him from becoming President as per the US Constitution, and the 31 "missing tapes" he made, ala "Hanoi Jane", between beatings and bowls of hot, steamy fishhead soup. Oh, and the Taxpayer-fronted gas bill from the "Straight Talk Express".

i have an advice for mcbush. (1) dont go negative first from RNC or your campaing, cos ur negative will bounce back on you, Why? Mr bush. (2) keep your mouth closed on attack why? cos you voted with bush 94.8% and you know the rating of Mr bush. (3) ask your wife to keep positive message about Mrs obama and hillary clinton so women can take another look at you.

great rebuttal to an ad that was full of l i e s

It was a very weak rebuttal. Obama didn't articulate ANY specific plan. It was all vague platitudes and not action items.
