Brave New Films: Sorry FOX, We Won't Let You Trash Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama has come in for particularly poor treatment on FOX News -- from the "terrorist fist jab" to "Obama's Baby Mama," along with scores of comments on her supposed bitterness. In a new video, Brave New Films catalogs the racism and misinformation in FOX's anti-Obama attacks.

"Not only are they smearing Michelle Obama with racist stereotypes, but then they offer a feeble apology that they believe gives them the right to slander her again," the group says in a press release. "FOX's long history of racism is nothing new, but it has been particularly egregious when it comes to their coverage of the Obamas. Racism and fearmongering have no place in our country or its politics, despite what FOX would have you believe."

I too think of Republicans as mean and hateful people. who seem to care nothing aboutt humanity--they are all about themselves. This is an outrage, and I have signed that petition. I don't watch Fox "news" but I went to the website, watched the video hosted there, and signed the petition.

I signed too, but I have to say that we need one against CNN too. Last night they kept showing a backdrop of Obama meeting with a group of black men over and over during a story on Obama. The suggestion that Obama is only going to be concerned with the interests of the blacks? CNN is just as racist as Faux News.

Sure Fox News is scum, but what about the Fox network itself that offers fine televisions shows such as House, The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. These shows all offer pretty scathing attack on so many things that are bad about America, and yet they are only available on Fox. The problem with your proposition is that Fox News is propagating lies and slander, and it cannot be tolerated simply because it also "offers fine televisions shows" on its network. Fox News is antithetical to the values of our democracy, and we have a moral responsibility to speak out against it and if possible, to silence it. I understand that some may say that this flies in the face of the first amendment, but Fox News is no different than having the Klan present themselves as a credible news show, and then use the platform given them to incite racial hatred and division. In fact, Fox may as well put on their sheets and hoods and show themselves for who they really are.
