The word on the street is they want to buy the Statue of Liberty next. After all, Lady Liberty already is wearing a burka without the headcovering-- which could be fixed easily enough.

In 3 weeks they start gold-plating the top of the building. Diamond encrusting will follow.

From today's Washington Post Express:
"800: The price, in millions of dollars, an Abu Ghraib investment firm reportedly paid for a 75 percent stake in New York City's famed Chrysler Building."

Wow. Abu Ghraib sure has come a long way in a couple of years! That's SOME typo...poetic nonetheless. Someone's intern should be fired.

Nothing crystallizes the Bush administration like this.

I was going to make a "I just know they're going to stink it up with their weird food" joke, but I see the real racists have already spoiled the fun.

So I'll just say that I hope the repatriation of Nermal was part of the deal.

Well, American corporations won't need office space in it. They moved their head offices out of the country...that way they can have business as usual with Iran and all of America's enemies or whoever they choose, not to mention...they don't have to pay tax here and nobody can complain that they don't pay taxes. They just siphone money out of the country and leave the country deeper in doo-doo with every deal they make.

I hope to see 4 humongous klaxon loudspeakers near the top of the Chrysler "minaret" situated for the periodic daily call to prayer. Sweet!

People...relax!

First get the facts. Yes, a group from Abu Dhabi bought the Chrysler building but here's the kicker: They bought it from a GERMAN corporation. The building hasn't been owned by a U.S. company for years.

To be outaged by this is nonsense.

Just wait until they buy the telecoms.

That sent a chill down my spine. A foreign country could basically close down it's intelligence service after buying one of the TelCos.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with a foreign company purchasing real estate in the US, the purchase of the Chrysler building is particularly sad. This building is an American icon. Being built during the Great Depression, it represents America's strength and ability to work its way out of economic turmoil. The sale to a group from Abu Dhabi just emphasizes our growing impotence to control our own destiny. Our wealthiest people have sold us out to save their own pathetic wealthy asses.

While I'm sure it will remain the beautiful art deco landmark that it always was, I'll never quite look at it the same again.

With all the corporate hate rantings on this site, I thought this might invoke a celebration. They are all evil. Right?

No, not evil. Just selfish and short sighted.

WHO should(????) own this--or any other building--in a so-called, market economy? External ownership of an asset is the natural consequence of U.S. ownership of assets external to its territory. Besides, what are these countries to buy with the PETRO-DOLLARS U.S. drivers of SUVs and monster pickups so lavishly exchange for oil?

"Murkans" are spoiled with a sense of entitlement derived from the chance history of the now-depleted assets of their country and the victories of the U.S. in two World Wars. However, what's "Murkan" civilization done lately........but indulge themselves.....?

Bush makes you fear muslims but yet he's the first to do business with them. I see a man with a hand in the terrorists pocket. He uses terrorism to do what he wants. Now watch the repugs talk about how this is a good thing. I guess so. Now they won't have to crash airplanes into our buildings, they'll just blow them up. Hell they own the building. I can't wait to see the demolition man so that you repugs can see how dumb you are. REPUBLICANS= I AM MY ENEMIES KEEPER.

He's a "middle man". That's how the Bushes make money.

What makes you think this Abu Dhabi group has anything to do with terrorism, and who let you into the Democratic Party?
