Chocolate News: David Alan Grier To Host Fake News Show From Black Perspective

Get ready for a black, tongue-in-cheek version of "Dateline."

"Chocolate News," a new sketch comedy series on Comedy Central, will made its debut in October, just in time for the presidential election. The show, starring David Alan Grier, will pretend to offer news from an African-American perspective.

Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, Mr. Grier said that if Barack Obama wins the presidency, it would be a windfall for his show. "That would be like a monumentous occasion culturally and comedically," he said.

Robert Morton, an executive producer, said the show is "figuring out how to do some sort of live topical presentation the night after the election."

"We just have to," Mr. Morton said. "It's too good to miss."

Enough already with the "fake news show." Brian Williams has a fake news show. Katie Couric has a fake news show. Jon Stewart has a satirical comedy show. Presumably that's the kind of show Grier will also have.

ABC is in a class with Fox. LIke Fox, it doesn't even try to seem like news. They're unabashed about their existing solely to promote Republican politicians and policies. All TV news is worthless. People who watch are harmed by it. The thing is, Brian Williams is particularly fake because he pretends to have a legitimate news show, and people believe it. Katie Couric's show is as fake as a purple and pink Barbie camper. Rush Limbaugh Freedom Corner indeed. She ought to be shunned.
