Pelosi: House Judiciary Committee May Hold Impeachment Hearings

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said this morning that the House Judiciary Committee may hold hearings on an impeachment resolution offered by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio).

Kucinich is expected to offer a "privileged resolution" this afternoon calling on the House to look at whether President Bush should be removed from office for lying to Congress and the American public when he sought congressional approval back in 2002 for taking military action to invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein.

Pelosi has said previously that impeachment "was off the table," so her comments this morning were surprising, and clearly signaled a new willingness to entertain the idea of ousting Bush, although no one in the Democratic leadership believes that is likely since the president has only six months left in this term.

Sorry Nancy, too little, too late!

You made an egregious error of judgment when you proclaimed; "impeachment is off the table". You were not forced into that asinine mistake, it was your choice.
The responsibility of your office is to protect & defend the Constitution & you have violated that trust. You & other quisling "Dems" have given cover to the Bush admn. & enabled them in continuing to trash our Republic time after time. That is unforgivable.

When we elected a Dem majority House & Senate, we expected YOU to do your part....you did not. When we asked for accountability for numerous crimes of the Bush/Neocon admn, you thwarted our efforts & did not support the courageous Dems who did. You gave aid & comfort to our enemy...the Bush regime, when Bush himself called our Constitution "just a Goddamn piece of paper". When Bush demanded a FISA bill that gave both the Telecoms AND those in his Admn retro-active immunity, you capitulated and made a mockery of accountability for criminal acts. The message sent is that accountability is "off the table".

Even now when "Bush's Brain", Karl Rove, thumbs his nose at Congress & refuses to appear & testify, you sit on your hands & do nothing. You have proven yourself, along with some other "Dem" "leaders", ineffectual & weak, or in collusion, in the face of clear and present danger.

I used to like, and respect, Pelosi until she said that crap about "impeachment not being on the table".
Freaking lawmakers ARE SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT THE LAW. . . When they don't - then we all should care enough about this country to put people into office who DO CARE ABOUT THE LAW.

Pelosi will go down in history as having failed the American people by saying years ago that impeachment was "off the table". Anyone who has respect for the Constitution would see how imperative impeachment is, in terms of restoring the Constitution. Bush and Cheney should be impeached and every piece of legislation they sponsored should be rescinded. Otherwise, the next president will have imperial power, the separation of church and state will not exist, individual rights will not exist, women's rights will not exist, and we might as well not even have a Constitution.

History will show that a bunch of crooks and robber barons took over and bankrupted America through crooked elections, manipulation, lying, control of the media, and bribery. And it will be evident that Pelosi and Congress stood by and let it happen. Pelosi swore to uphold the Constitution and she has not done it.

It will also be evident that the American people had no recourse because all three branches of their government were responding to big money instead of to the people they were elected to serve. The people could not turn to their representatives because those representatives were corrupt, and they could not turn to the media because the media was owned by special interests. When people complained, there really was no one to listen.

The Bush administration is presently getting away with everything it did. And it continues its agenda (see FISA). No one stops them.
