Karl Rove refused to appear before a House Judiciary subcommittee, ignoring a subpoena from Congress for the second time. The chairwoman of the subcommittee, Rep. Linda Sanchez, appeared on Verdict with Dan Abrams tonight and blasted Rove, calling his claims of executive privilege "ridiculous" and saying Congress should take action to put him in jail.

Fight fire with fire: when dealing with Executive Thugs, jailtime is the only thing that scares them.
Bush & Rove et al have been treating Congress, the legal system and the Senate like little squares of white paper on a roll.

It's time they got wiped back.

When reading this article, and thinking about our constitutional crisis, a few analogies come to mine:

A college teacher of mine once said that locks are for honest people!

A "southern gentleman" had a duel with a "crooked fellow". The "gentleman" explained all the protocals of honorable "dueling with pistols" etc. The "gentleman" went over the mutually agreed term that both combatants would start back-to-back, count ten paces, turn, and fire their weapons. This all went very nicely until the "crooked fellow" turned at count seven, and shot the "southern gentleman" in the back! And this is so indicative of what's been happening with the "honorable" congress vs. the Republican Criminal Enterprise. They, the enterprise, have no respect for the rule of law. But ironically, they use that respect, and adherence to the law by others, as a shield against accountablilty. With the democrats, it's not showing up to a gun fight with a knife. It's showing up to the beaches at Normandy with boxing gloves!
One cannot give honor to others, who have no interest in giving honor to themselves!

I will be watching this carefully, and house members who do not show backbone will not get my vote.

It would be amazing wouldn't it? Unfortunately, I don't think it'll happen. But I have my fingers crossed.

This is more serious than Watergate.

As Wilde said: Democracy the bludgeoning of the people, by the people, for the people.

Pathetic.

To repeat, how the he\ would Linda Sanchez know that executive privilege does not apply?

The supreme court doesn't seem to agree.

"... the valid need for protection of communications between high Government officials and those who advise and assist them in the performance of their manifold duties"

"[h]uman experience teaches that those who expect public dissemination of their remarks may well temper candor with a concern for appearances and for their own interests to the detriment of the decisionmaking process."

Q: How is this government different from the Politburo?

A: There is no difference.

Each party panders to it's perceived base, says anything to get elected, then goes along with whatever big business and the military want, deliberately excluding the needs and desires of the population as a whole. Each party is taking money under the table, cutting deals, selling secrets, dealing drugs and weapons, bribing judges, extorting money, protecting racketeers, and plundering in general.

Two parties which are really just flapping, vestigial organs of a corrupted, bloated plutocracy run by a small group of cartels. Was this the intent of the founding fathers? If so, what then must we do to give the people more of a say in the decision making process?

The plutocrats have almost all the money now, and all the guns, and they are building more and more detainment camps and prisons every day in America. Department of Homeland Security wants us to wear electronic shock bracelets on the airplane flights. Slavery is not far off.

Well put, except that the elites dont really have most of the guns in the US. There are tons of rednecks out there with literally hundreds of millions of guns. An estimated 60 million people in the US own over 200 million guns, and these are just the guns that are legally owned.

This represents at least some modicum of protection against the government, when reality smacks the average redneck hard enough in the face. We aren't there yet, but if conditions get bad enough anything is possible.

After all it was Jefferson who said, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it"s natural manure."

Lets call it. "Just desserts."

Arrest him. Put him in jail.

Then let's watch the Roberts court trip over themselves with bizzare intensity to get him out.

It'll beat the OJ trial and any another reality show.

The precedent has now been established.....the deed is done

The executive branch IS in fact ABOVE THE LAW....and Mr. Reed and Ms. Pelosi et al. have placed it there.

Know what? The NEXT administration will be also.....and the one after that.

Meet the new boss..........

Both Parties are sick to the core. They will do nothing. With 98% of Republicans and at least 50% of Democrats willingly submitting to the pressures of big money, Media and special interests, only the 3rd party can represent the interests of the People.

Go to jail for what? Breaking the law? That's funny. Hasn't Ms. Sanchez heard the news? We don't live by the rule of law any more. She should seek clarification on that from all her worthless, duty-shirking, blank-check writing colleagues.

Congress could have been dissolved years ago for all the good they do.

I love the way these things drag on forever.

When will all this happen, Congresswoman? "Oh, in several weeks, or months, or, hey, it doesn't have to happen this year...?

(The Roman Senate still sat for hundreds of years past the time anyone paid the slightest attention.)

Welcome to Thr Republic In Name Only

'Dissolve congress' ------- I quite agree given the so-called "representation" we've been given. They seem to be far more interested in 'representing' big business (limited at that) and 'their own' personal interest , than the publics'.

With the technology options at our disposal today , we now have the capability of "representing ourselves" , directly. The "populists" views have consistently been correct over the last few years , while our "representatives" have 'consistently been on the 'wrong' side of the issues of our time.

Hey , what the h*** , it might be worth a try --- it worked for the Greeks and what we've got now sure isn't working.

Go ahead, I dare you liberals and leftists, throw him in jail, then go for the fairness doctrine. It's starting to sound a lot like Hugo around here.

I'm not sure how you're lining up the jailing of a US citizen (he is a citizen, just like the rest of us, right?) for contempt of congress with the ridiculous "fairness doctrine" for media, but if you want to make it just about what is "fair" then I'll put it to you like this: If I get a subpoena from The United States Congress, demanding I show up and give testimony, then I'd better show up by gum, if not then I'd expect to be arrested and put in jail for contempt. How is Rove's subpoena different from mine? It isn't. It's the same. Unless of course, he's some kind of new "super-citizen" to which the laws of our nation do not apply, or a member of the royal family, oh wait we have no royal family, that's right. Is there a new "super-citizen" designation none of us are aware of?

And the Hugo comment? Are you actually saying that the righteous call to enforce the laws of The United States of America is to be likened to the rantings of a socialist dictator? HUH?!

In all sincerity, you obviously consider yourself a patriot, and as such, you (maybe more than any of us) should disgusted and angered with the contempt, disrespect and criminal disregard which Karl Rove has shown for our Constitution and body of Law.

By the way, I'm neither a leftist nor a liberal.
