I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Fox News desperately needs a fact checker in its graphics department. MSNBC's David Shuster caught this gem from a Fox report on the Iranian missile tests. The graphic that Fox used to identify the Strait of Hormuz put the strait in the wrong location, and misspelled "strait." For good measure, the Fox reporter also mispronounced "Hormuz."

Watch it (the segment is about two minutes into the video).

Who do you think you are, arguing with "The Most Important Name in News?"

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:37 PM on 07/11/2008

Maybe, but Fox has more more democrat viewers than CNN and MSNBC together. It's a free country folks, people can choose to watch whatever they want. We Dems have a speaker who wants to start to use the 'strategic supply' how clever. I would think that would be more real news.
Mc Cain Democrat, Please next time nominate someone I can vote for. I hate voting against my personal interests, but I will for my country, anyday and everyday.

A vote for Obama is a vote for your personal interests but a vote against the country. That makes no effing sense and you know it. Please explain how 4 more years in Iraq, war with Iran, tax breaks for the rich, more deregulation, more debt, more deficits and the myopic policies of Bush as carried out by McCain help the country or you or ANYTHING.

That's the problem. Your personal interests ARE LINKED to the country. They are not separate entities. The welfare of the individual is inextricably linked to welfare of the nation and vice versa. Only a lifelong Republican would be so shortsighted as to not understand this concept.

That is correct.

I'm still waiting for Keith Olbermann to show enough guts to actually invite a guest who isn't a bobble head - someone who will actually disagree with him.

There are plenty of those on Faux news. The nice thing about Keith is not having to listen to babbling idiots. Go watch something else if you are unhappy with America's best news man! ;))

If MSNBC is gonna criticize Fox News for its wrongly located, pronounced and spelled graphic on the Strait of Hormuz, the MSNBC ought to get its own grammar and spelling correct, which it didn't. The MSNBC newscaster correctly pointed out that the word "Straits" is not supposed to have an E in it, which the Fox News graphic did. He also should have pointed out that the correct characterization of the waterway is not "Straits," (plural) but "Strait" (singular).
Check any good map to confirm that. The MSNBC man went on to say that ""the actual Straits of Hormuz is farther south." He is also correct that Fox News had the location wrong. But he again wrongly called it "Straits" instead of "Strait." And if you look back at that sentence, he used the wrong verb ("is") with the wrong noun ("Straits"). If you're gonna go around correcting people, you ought to get it correct yourself.

Furthermore, it's not what I'd call "further south" of where Fox located it either.

WOOP! WOOP! WOOP!...

Usage Police. "Further" means "additionally." "Farther" means "more distant."

Fox News sure is an effective organization. Drives the distant left drones nuts. Scrutinizing every moment in a desperate search for a nit to babble about is just a joke to us normal people.

The funny thing about Huffington Post drones is how often their "me too" comments essentialize to something like "I've never watched Fox and I never will. They're always wrong." ROTMFFLMMFAO!

To that extent that being a 23 percenter constitutes being normal.

This is just sad, but nowhere near the worst of Fox News. It's time to pull their license. Lying on the people's airwaves is an FCC violation.

From Wikipedia:

Described as "an indifferent student",[4] Hannity dropped out of New York University and another college numerous times for lack of funds, and later decided to pursue a radio career.[3] In 2005, Jerry Falwell, chancellor of Liberty University, awarded him an honorary degree for speaking at the commencement ceremony.[5]

Fox News tries to dumb down the audience so much that those who work there have gotten so they know nothing either. One daily loses points off their IQ by watching Fox.

A couple of weeks ago there was a blog about an employment ad in the classifieds, paraphrasing : "Fact Writer for Fox News Channel....".

Now we know they hired another incompetent!

A Factoid factotum. -Fox is creating a whole new job category that soon every MSM will be clamouring for.

(It is frightening how many people think factoid means a piece of trivia when in actuality it means something false, made-up or spurious.)

What?? How /dare/ you suggest Fox News hire a fact checker! How dare you insist they have /anything/ to do with actual facts! Shame on you!! If they only use facts, how will they goad us into blindly following the Bush Administration??

No, no, no. They don't want a fact checker. Remember, they just ran an ad looking for a "fact WRITER". In other words, somebody who creates facts, makes them up as they go along, calls anything the GOP tells them a fact. Are we clear now?

FOX News is propaganda, nothing more.

Calling FOX News a "news source" is like calling crack cocaine a "nutrition source".
