McCain Campaign Had Protestor Holding "Bush=McCain" Sign Removed From Event

Read Carol Kreck's blog on her ordeal with the McCain campaign and the Secret Service.

It was Sen. John McCain's staff who asked security at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts to remove people holding protest signs at the venue -- not U.S. Secret Service agents, who were not involved in Carol Kreck's ouster from the galleria.

A video of the incident circulating widely on the Internet shows a DCPA security guard saying that he was told by the Secret Service to remove Kreck, who was holding a paper sign that said "McCain = Bush."

But Thursday, after two days of being vilified by bloggers, letter writers and others, the Secret Service emphatically denied involvement.

"Contrary to some recent reporting, the Secret Service had no involvement in Ms. Kreck being removed from the area," said Malcolm D. Wiley Sr., spokesman for the Secret Service. "It was not done at our request or suggestion. Any assertion to the contrary is inaccurate and inconsistent with our established policies and procedures."

What's the big deal? Obama had two muslim women in traditional garb removed from one of his rallies and he presents himself as being proud of his muslim roots and "open-minded"!

In the case of the muslim women, it was campaign staffers who were afraid of a possible right-wing set-up to put Barack in the company of muslims in a photo-op, since there is so much Islamophobia in the U.S. these days. As a resolution, the campaign staffers were given clear procedures to follow that do not allow them to screen people from campaign events like this, and Obama apologized personally to the women.

To respond to this as effectively as Obama, McCain should apologize to Ms. Kreck and see to it that it doesn't happen again. I don't think he's he's done those things. He has reinforced the common perception that he and Bush are the same in a lot of important ways, however.

Here's a question for you. Volunteers for Obama's camaping wouldn't let 2 muslim women sit behind Obama - Obama apologized to the 2 women IMMEDIATELY. No one's Freedom of Speech was denied by Obama - In spite of that, the MSM ran that story for 4 or 5 days STRAIGHT with all kinds of talking heads giving their opinions on how much it will HURT Obama's campaign.

... YET ... McCain's campaign DENIES this woman her 1st. Amendment right, McCain ignores her & refuses to apologize ... and ... no mention on the MSM.

Thank you to the Secret Service for clarifying. Its abuse by Bush in the past has been bizarre and ridiculous, at least to the extent that they took orders from him or his staff to create or enforce "free speech zones".

Her sign was perfect, clean, not profain, and should have made the RepublicRats proud! It cuts to the core of the hypocrisy which Bush and his Reich deny, ... but secretly know. That "McCain = Bush" brings the cold hard truth to the light of day, ... first that even RepublicRats have disdain for Bush, ... and that McCain is a pitiful third candidacy of the same sort of idiot for president. They hate to even face the truth themselves out of shame, ... but they hate worse the expectation that they will be out in the cold in January of 2008!

I do love this country, but what I love most about it are the examples of courage I see in folks like that librarian in Denver who takes her right to speak seriously, and will not back down!
