***UPDATE***

Read Carol Kreck's blog on her ordeal with the McCain campaign and the Secret Service.

From The Denver Post:

It was Sen. John McCain's staff who asked security at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts to remove people holding protest signs at the venue -- not U.S. Secret Service agents, who were not involved in Carol Kreck's ouster from the galleria.

A video of the incident circulating widely on the Internet shows a DCPA security guard saying that he was told by the Secret Service to remove Kreck, who was holding a paper sign that said "McCain = Bush."

But Thursday, after two days of being vilified by bloggers, letter writers and others, the Secret Service emphatically denied involvement.

"Contrary to some recent reporting, the Secret Service had no involvement in Ms. Kreck being removed from the area," said Malcolm D. Wiley Sr., spokesman for the Secret Service. "It was not done at our request or suggestion. Any assertion to the contrary is inaccurate and inconsistent with our established policies and procedures."

Read the rest of the article here and watch the video of Kreck being escorted out by police for carrying the sign:

Enuff of this gestapo crap. WIll someone take this case to court? Sue the Denver property who got the gutless police to enforce a dubious propertry right that infringes on a constitutional prerogative. If the property has a problem with what was a perfectly benign sign/protest...do not have political meetings on your property. That too is their right.

Just think, McCain is so eager to follow in Bush's footsteps he didn't wait until he was elected to start stripping away civil liberties!

McCain is going to want to do anything he can to make this go away because he doesn't want the discovery investigation for this trial because the attorneys would ask not only for verification of who made the initial complaint but also documentation given to the rent a cops and Secret Service concerning who and what can come in. And I bet it would verify that McCain simply wants do his straight talking to only Republicans that won't ask him any hard questions.

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/06/muslim_women_sh.html

And quoting the article:

“Aref told the AP she had defended Obama against the rumors that he was Muslim.

Sitting elsewhere in the rally, she said it was difficult for her to accept Obama's message of unity among races. "As he's saying it, I'm thinking, 'Well, wait a minute, I was obviously ... profiled and discriminated against an hour ago,' " she told the AP.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement saying such actions are "not the policy of the campaign."

"It is offensive and counter to Obama's commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run. We sincerely apologize for this behavior," the statement read.”

Read closely. She as ALLOWED IN the event, just not allowed to sit behind Obama, AND his campaign staff APOLOGIZED.

Where is the McCain staff’s apology for suppressing free speech?

yeah, it was probably not the bet way for the obama campaign to deal with the right wing extremists massive propaganda campaign to spread lies to scare bigoted people into not voting vor him. But in the case of mccain bush connection it is a valid political point.

they dont get disrupted because the democrats just keep talking and let free speech rein. It's the republicans who cant tolerate dissent or anything that interferes in appearances that anyone is not in lock step like in the old nazi rallies. .

I would be just as angry if some conservatives were removed from a Dem event for carrying a sign as I am about this woman being removed from McCain's event. The point is that she has the right to do what she was doing. Protesting and otherwise being involved in politics is not a luxury in this country; It's an obligation.

It's too bad that the Republicans are too obtuse to grasp the implications of their presidential candiacy's behavior, in this story about Carol Kreck.

They tried to blame the Secret Service at first, but that fib didn't work out too well, did it?

Idea;

If McCain comes to YOUR city ... make the sign "McCAIN=BUSH" -- Walk with the sign on the public property surrounding the event.

If McCain continues to strip American's of their Constitutional rights to Freedom of Speech -- eventually the MSM will have to report about it.

I haven't seen or heard of any reports of Obama having these sort of "heckling," issues. On the other hand I've lost count of how many McCain has had. I guess maybe when you've heard his bull from another for nearly 8 years it just doesn't wash anymore. Hope he loses and loses well, as in a landslide victory for Obama.

Republicans do not attend Democratic Party events to heckle and disrupt. Free speech includes the right to speak from a political podium without being shouted down by jerks and thugs. Republicans respect that right; far too many Democrats do not.

So silently holding a sign McCain = Bush is on par with heckling and disrupting? Fact is, right wingers do not attend Democratic events because:

1. When they open their mouths they prove their ignorance.
2. They are afraid to confront Obama, who will talk circles around them.
3. Their ideologies only ring true in the GOP echo chamber.

The only thing Republicans respect is 100% compliance and sycophantic worship of their bankrupt ideologies.

Lets see, its a campaign rally at a private venue where no one is allowed to enter with a banner even if it said "I Love McCain". So the lefties send a little old lady with a tame protest sign knowing she'll get stopped at the front door. Next thing you know, screaming headlines about the little old librarian being brutalized by the McCain goon squad. And she just happens to get a HuffPo blog a the same time. Give me a break.

Decider, who says "its a campaign rally at a private venue. . ." needs to get its facts straight before deciding. In fact the Denver Performing Arts Center is a public owned venue which is subject to all the free speech rights protected by the Federal and State of Colorado Constitutions, or at least those not yet evicerated by the GOP. The City and County of Denver’s Theatres and Arenas Division owns and operates the three largest theatres in DPAC, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, the Buell Theatre and Boettcher Concert Hall. These and the other facilities of the Complex are managed and booked by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA). Decider, how about using a neat little invention called Goggle to verify a few facts next time. When you start your opinion with a blatant and obvious inaccuracy, no one buys anything else you say whether it has merit or not.

The campaign rented space from the DCPA which rents its space from the DPAC which is owned/operated by Denver. It was therefore a private event and subject to the rules of its sponsors. One of the rule was "no signs."
