LA Times:

McCain, who is about to become the GOP nominee, has made several statements about how he divorced Carol and married Hensley that conflict with the public record.

In his 2002 memoir, "Worth the Fighting For," McCain wrote that he had separated from Carol before he began dating Hensley.

"I spent as much time with Cindy in Washington and Arizona as our jobs would allow," McCain wrote. "I was separated from Carol, but our divorce would not become final until February of 1980."

An examination of court documents tells a different story. McCain did not sue his wife for divorce until Feb. 19, 1980, and he wrote in his court petition that he and his wife had "cohabited" until Jan. 7 of that year -- or for the first nine months of his relationship with Hensley.

Although McCain suggested in his autobiography that months passed between his divorce and remarriage, the divorce was granted April 2, 1980, and he wed Hensley in a private ceremony five weeks later. McCain obtained an Arizona marriage license on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first wife.

Well. Here's ANOTHER story that will never make the mainstream press. It really gets sad after a while.

That's because it is not news. This is an old story and basically a non-issue.

The old "statute of limitations" defense? It happened a long time ago so who cares? Sorry, that doesn't wash anymore. You repubs are willing to bring up anything from the past you care to, and so can we. This stinks, and time hasn't made it smell any better.

Mr. McCane.........your first wife went through hell for you while you were in the Hanoi Hilton and right till you came back. You promptly dumpt her like the day's garbage because you met a rich woman. Mr McCane, How in the world can I believe anything you say? Just because you are an old man who knows nothing about today's technology is in no way reason to elect you President. The President has to at least be aware of America's shortfalls......you sir, admit that you know nothing about economics or what is wrong with the country....you do however stress the importance of war. Maybe war is the number one issue in your mind, but the American people would like peace and the chance to rebuild America before you totally destroy it with your wars.

I'm not a McCain supporter but he was married for two years before being shot down. Spent 5 1/2 years in a prison camp being tortured. He returned home as a different man in 1973 to a woman who I would assume had also changed during those years. None of us can even imagine being apart from our spouses for that long much less under those circumstances. They divorced 6 years later and McCain has stated, "My marriage's collapse was attributable to my own selfishness and immaturity more than it was to Vietnam, and I cannot escape blame by pointing a finger at the war. The blame was entirely mine." What more do you want him to say?

This isn't a new story. If he were the maverick that he once was, and we didn't have a strong Democratic candidate, don't you think that this would be a non-issue. No one seemed to care back in 2000 when he was running against Bush.

BTW, I am an Obama supporter and I would not consider voting for McCain under any circumstances but you people are out of control with your self righteousness.

It's relevant not because McCain cheated. It's relevant because at 42 McCain was chasing skirts and boozing (and who's to say what his relationship was with his kids).

At the same age Obama had already served in the statehouse for about 6 years. He reached the U.S. Senate a couple of years later.

McCain was clowning and wasting time until he finally got on course. To compensate for his own failures he tries to denigrate Obama as "inexperienced." The facts are that Obama has had his head on straight for decades. That it took McCain so long to get his act together is no one's fault but John McCain's.

No, this goes to the heart of character and what you can't see behind the person. For better or worse, that means changes for better or worse. He is a scumsucking pig in my book.
And I'll stop there you don't need to be bitter to know this is as low as you can go.

McCain is an adulterer. The records prove it. And a liar, of course. And, apparently, a man with no 'family values' whatsoever.

Should a one time, Mistress, become the First Lady of the United States?

No Way!

This question was often discussed when Rude Rudi was running for POTUS.

The question is a valid one while considering having the McCains in the White House.

"Should a one time, Mistress, become the First Lady of the United States?"

Do you even know what a "Mistress" is? It's the woman in a long-term relationship with a married man, who generally supports her.

A lot of men -- who think they are the King of France -- like to refer to any girlfriend they've ever slept with as a "mistress" -- especially when they don't give a hang about the woman's privacy. The correct word for that relationship is "girlfriend." Before she married him, Cindy was McCain's girlfriend.

The correct term would be adulteress. Whatever the term, the concern is the same. No Jezebels in the white house please.

McCain is nothing more than an opportunist who will do or say anything to get what he wants.

Whether it comes to leaving his wife for a younger richer model or saying just about anything to attain the presidency, McCain has shown he won't let morals get in the way of him achieving his goals.

Look at some of the things he's said so far in his campaign:

He sure as hell has no judgement what so ever making Phil Gamm his economic advisor and co-chairman of his campaign. Gramm is a totally unscrupulous scumbag both personally and professionally. If the truth were known he is probably the most dishonest individual to have ever used the congress for personal enrichment.. And, he is no more a Texan than Bush.

Please, McCain is infinitely more electable than Bush. Get it?

Has bush ever made a comment that is original and intelligent? You have elected a group of people who have lied about the reasons for war, bankrupted your economy, invested your savings not on your expertise in technology that would make you strong, but on the natural resources of states that are hostile to you, making you more insecure financially and militarily.

And you did it twiice.

He said he named all the Philadelphia Steelers or something and HE AGAIN LIED, because in his book, he said it was the Green Bay Packers, I believe. I would guess that men that had been tortured and held captive in extremely bad conditions (even worse than Gitmo) for several years, sometimes make bad choices on their return to normalcy. I had a hard enough time getting back from sea after a six month trip. We will never know about m_ccains situation, and if his ex-wife had issues also. Why not judge folks on their actions, and not what you read in the gossip columns.

Sorry Rump, this dude was making bad decisions back then as now. His ex wife was recuperating from a bad car accident while he was recuping from being a POW. He could have scored massive points politically back then with the Reagans, but left his wife with zip, because she was disfigured from her accident. He was conniving and petty then as he is now. His mind is shot and his faux paus are happening on about a 10/1 basis compared to Obama.

Dumping his wife for a younger (and richer) model isn't worth judging him on??

And in this case, the gossip columns are also pointing out that his book contradicts his statements.

that's it make excuses for his bad behavior, leaving his wife who was critically injured and had to have 4 inches removed from her legs, did not walk for years, and was faithful while he was locked up - for him to return and dump her for a woman with bucks and influence.... class act - ummmm... you too... you find nothing morally offensive because he is your candidate.

Sure their is. The left's "concern" about the military. The left's "belief" in science as they whine about nuclear energy, their fear of genetic processes in food production, and their incessant belief that "wilderness" is not a religious belief of the same manner as the evangelicals belief in creationism.

Funny: "wilderness" is not a religious belief of the same manner as the evangelicals belief in creationism - We can go out and SEE the wilderness - no one has ever seen God.

Even funnier : The left's "concern" about the military - How many defermments did Cheney accrue?

Funniest: The left's "belief" in science as they whine about nuclear energy, their fear of genetic processes in food production, - Isn't it hilarious that McCain thinks radiactive waste isn't a pollutant.

I don't care about what aids the McCains use, none of my business. However if the man cannot keep his word, is a rather continuous liar, has the position of the day on any subject, that does concern me. McCain breaking his word abandoning his family for the new girlfriend/wife and lieing about it. That does matter because it speaks to his character. It seems McCain opens his mouth and out come lies. I will not vote for a man who is such a continual liar. Every day a new lie. Today it is about his time as a POW. The man has no honor, that is a major problem. That is important.
