Washington Independent:

In a sign of continued weakness in his home state, an online poll shows Sen. John McCain trailing Sen. Barack Obama by 3-percentage points in Arizona. The poll also shows the candidacy of Libertarian Bob Barr is having a significant impact on McCain's campaign by siphoning off conservative voters nationwide.

The Arizona poll was part of nationwide Zogby International poll that put Obama ahead in total electoral votes with 273 to 160 for McCain. The poll found 11 states with 105 electoral votes too close to call -- including Arizona. McCain's campaign in June included Arizona among its list of swing states.

(Matt Mahurin) McCain not only faced problems with Independent voters, he is losing a small, but potentially lethal voting block of the GOP right to Barr. The former Republican congressman from Georgia is pulling just enough voters in many states to shift the balance to Obama. Whether this bloc will remain in Barr's camp on election day could determine the outcome.

TRUE STORY..!!!

Just this morning in Red Lodge Montana, I heard an 90 year old man and an 89 year old man talk politics..

They asked each other who they were voting for..

The 90 year old man said he would NOT vote for John McCain because he (John M) was to OLD..!!

The 89 year old man said he LOVED Barack Obama and see's him as bring real respect from around the world back to back to America..

This is no joke.. I listened intently and thought how interesting for them to have on world preception and age .

This race impacts everybody even us in Red Lodge Montana..!!

and 90 year old men think this is NO Country for Old Men..

If I were from Arizona, a republican and knew that he is now the #1 most absent Senator in the 110th congress, I wouldn't be too fond of him either.

He even beats Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD), who took several months off while recovering from a brain hemorrhage.

As a born and bred Zonie, internet abbreviations like "LOL" don't quite cover this one:

"A month after emerging victorious from the bruising Democratic nominating contest, some of Barack Obama's glow may be fading. In the latest NEWSWEEK Poll, the Illinois senator leads Republican nominee John McCain by just 3 percentage points, 44 percent to 41 percent. The statistical dead heat is a marked change from last month's NEWSWEEK Poll, where Obama led McCain by 15 points, 51 percent to 36 percent."

Once again and maybe it will post this time. I wouldn't pay the polls any attention this early in the game because the repubs like to play games with their "smoke screens" and make things like the way they really aren't.

The race for the White House is getting a bit closer. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Barack Obama’s lead over John McCain down to a statistically insignificant single percentage point, 43% to 42%.

The repub people from AZ that we work with really hate McCain and have hated him for a long time. I'm not suprised that Barr would make gains there because he's more to their taste. They won't buy any of McCain's flip flopping, and they don't need MSM to get on board to know about it.

Well thats what happens when the last time you decide to show up to work was 4/8/08 missing 76 possible advantages to vote in the Senate. just like any other job you get fired! i live in AZ I see McCains work or lack thereof. Out dated inefficiate infrastructure, polutted air, wide open boarders, failing school system, lake of economic oppurtunity, housing meltdown...the information is out there folks check it out for yourself

I'm not surprised... McCain has never run against a serious candidate here, has worn out his 'favorite son' status, and has been caught in too many scandal/change of story situations.

The media wants a horse race. Big surprise, it won't be. Barack Obama will be our next POTUS. We are ready. The young vote all goes to BO. the Democrats are fired up. We had unbelievable numbers of Dem voters in the primary. Both HRC and BO rocked the vote. Much more of the same to come. We aint seen nothing yet!

I know it's a bit early to get overexcited about a poll, but wow is this bad news for McCain. I have a feeling that things are being thrown against walls in his Arizona staff office right about now.

This has to be the biggest example to date of the trouble that McCain will have with Latino voters and independents, which make a sizable portion of Arizona's voters. It seems also that there are many voters who actually want him to pursue pork barrell projects and don't see it as a virtue that he doesn't pull federal dollars into his home state.

This could be huge, but it's early enough that cautious optimism is warranted.

Apparently a lot of highways in AZ are in bad condition because he refuses to bring home the pork to fix them.

Of course Barr will stay in the race. McCain is going to lose anyway, so why not make points for Barr's future? Barr will be a household name like Ralph Nader.

And then Repubs who used to admire him will start to hate him just like many Democrats (including me) started to hate Nader after he helped elect Bush in '00. This should be fun to watch.

While this poll is almost certainly an outlier, the fact that McC's home state may be in play says volumes. I don't think McC can keep his weekly series of gaffes under wraps for the entire election...

I predict that McCain will make a gaffe so big, that even the MSM can't ignore it. Unfortunately, they've managed to ignore his almost daily screwups to this point.

Yeah, but after 8 years of George, people are used to it.

It's only when a Democrat makes a gaffe that it is noteworthy.

It wii have to be mighty big for the MSM to talk about it!

Maybe they will publish anything good they can find that he's done ......just so they don't look so stupid for not reporting "real news" these last few years.
